How often should you clean... you fill in the blank. We've got lots of ideas for creating cleaning habits to make your life easier and your home cleaner. ua-cam.com/play/PLh1fKdNH3piQ-CM6xOPa4Mr7MY-qrGXJa.html
The FlyLady promotes “Swish and Swipe” every day. With just soap, (“soap is soap”) like a shower gel you don’t like from a gift basket. I like the drip dry into the toilet trick.
I swish and swipe, but no soap. Works great
Great tip. Thanks for sharing. I hadn't considered gel from a basket I don't like. LOL. Thanks for watching and joining the collective conversation. 💛
I’m not handling the stick of the toilet bowl brush unless I’ve cleaned the rest of the toilet. Laying the seat over that brush shouldn’t be done until you’ve wiped that toilet seat down. And once the rings have started seems impossible to get out.
Love the Fly Lady💕
I came to the comments to say this!
About 3 years ago I discovered The Fly Lady system for maintaining my home. One of the daily chores is the Swish and Swipe. It is a quick - about 2 minutes total - swish and swipe of the bathroom. I have a non-toxic and environmentally safe cleaner that I spay the sink and toilet with - I also use the spray in the toilet bowl. I use the brush and do the swish (similar to your system), and then I wipe down the seat etc. Then weekly I do a deeper clean - I pay more attention to hidden areas. Then once every 5 weeks, I do a really deep clean. I spend 15 minutes a day for 4 days in the bathrooms. I start at the top and work my way down. I clean the top edge of my door, the light fixtures, the tile walls, top to bottom of my pedestal sink, and a thorough clean of the toilet and tank. At no point do I spend more than a combined total of 17 minutes in my bathroom. It is spotless and a joy to use. It is also easy to do a quick Swish and Swipe before guests arrive. It is truly amazing how easy it is to maintain a clean home if the chores are broken down into small manageable blocks of time.
Wow, this is very specific. Thanks for sharing these great tips. Yes, it's true having systems you follow do make cleaning a breeze. Thanks for the reminder and good advice. 👍😍
Swishing the toilet, especially the waterline, daily, REALLY WORKS. This is so much better than having a cleaning person come every two weeks. That’s because having a clean toilet and a clean kitchen sink has a positive effect on ME. I feel better. Those two things help me feel better. They inspire me to tidy and clean other parts of the house.
The problem is that I get grossed put by toilets with rings! The one at my Weight Watchers center is the worst!!!
I totally agree - I love having a clean toilet and sink. Maybe your local Weight Watchers could benefit from this video, LOL.
I hadn’t thought of brushing the toilet every day,. I’ll increase a bit. My husband and I brush ours a few times a week. I keep a spray bottle of diluted vinegar and a little dawn by the toilet to wipe it down periodically.
I started regular brushing because our guest bathroom that is seldom used was being forgotten. I have found I can touch that bathroom up so quickly that I am not even missed. I can run for a quick potty break, brush the toilet and wipe down the sink and be back for my turn during a board game. 😂
It’s been so nice to have the bathrooms better maintained.
Now to tackle teaching teenagers to do this in their bathroom. So far they don’t see the vision. I’ve had to pick my battles. 😝
@@RealityofaSecondLife 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
LOL. Ah, teenagers, they are such fun. 😂😂😂 I love how systemized your tidying up process is. That is fantastic. 👏👏👏
Don't forget!!! Clean the toilet brush and holder once a week, too! I put diluted bleach in mine, let it sit for half an hour, then pour it in the loo, scrub round whilst flushing, dry the container with paper towel and let the brush drip dry.
Great tip. Thanks for sharing this.
Great tip
So happy that I found this channel. I have a very small home but because there are 4 of us, it gets so messy and dirty quicker than anything. These tips are gems for me.
So glad that you found us too! Welcome, we are happy that you are here. You got this Pamela!
I have been asking myself this question for weeks. Thank you. Growing up no one ever taught me this stuff so I am so appreciative of simple videos like this.
Thanks for hanging out with me here. Don't worry about not learning this growing up - you probably learned a host of other valuable life lessons. We'll catch you up. 💛
Such a great idea-no chemicals on a daily basis and things are clean! Everybody needs to learn this.
Yes, the chemicals can be used once a week. Other than than that maintaining it is simple and chemical free. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to drop me a line. :-)
I guess cleaning the toilet daily is like brushing your teeth. You've got to remember to do it until it becomes a habit. When you don't do it, something feels amiss. I want to thank you for your amazing videos. As a bachelor living alone, cleaning has never been a top priority so your videos have been a kick-in-the-butt to do at least some basic housecleaning.
Hooray! Thanks for sharing this. It's true, tidying up a bit, wiping up after you eat, cook, shower, get dressed... little by little the house is clean and stays clean.
I learned recently to use Oxiclean powder. Sprinkled some in, let it sit then came back later, brushed and flushed. Rings gone and also the hole down in the bottom of the drain that I usually need an old toothbrush to get. And it smells good too.
There are so many ways to clean a toilet. I love that you have a system in place and are using it. That is the key, frequent cleanings. Thanks for the inspiration.
The cleaner ph information was great to know. I’ve always used a powder cleanser weekly and have done the daily swishes for years. You’re right - it works!
That's awesome to hear! Thanks for dropping me a line. :-)
I clean my loo everyday. I usually will use a little squirt of hand wash or shampoo, especially those ones I haven't finished because I don't like them or I'm bored of them. I use the chemical cleaner once a week. My loo and handbasin are cleaned everyday. I love cleaning the bathroom, and mine is always immaculate. It's the one place in my house that is always like that!!
Oddly enough, (and this is true for most everyone) we will spend multiple times a day in the bathroom. So having a clean bathroom creates a welcoming space rather than a place that reinforces ick into your day. Thanks for the great tips. 😍
I saw you use the toilet brush drying method on a previous video and have used this tip ever since. Surprising how quickly it became a habit.
Thanks for watching. It keeps the toilet brush from turning rusty and musty. 👏👏👏
@@AskAngelaBrown how long should the brush stay in this drying position? Like until the next day / next time the toilet is used? Or do I need to remember to go back there in an hour and put it back onto its holder?
Thank you Angela for the clarity and confirmation : )
Sure, that's what we're here for.
I do this - clean first thing in the morning. My husband worked for a well-known British sanitaryware manufacturer and his advice is Never use bleach - if you must, then rinse straight away. Don't leave it on the glaze as it eats it away over time.
Yes, bleach is reserved for heavy-duty projects and like you said, rinse it as soon as possible. Great tips. Thanks for sharing. :-)
Amazingly simple. Thank you so SO much.
Thanks for spending a few minutes here with me. I appreciate it. 💛
You offer such good advice and direction, thank you!
Thanks for your kind words and for joining me here today. :-)
Your cleaning videos and advices are incredible appreciated. Thank you
Oh wow, Monika, that is so nice of you to say. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement and support and for spending a few minutes of your day here with me. I appreciate you. :-)
Very succinct, straight to the point and perfect comparisons. Thank you for quality content.
You're welcome! Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!
Thank you Angela. This is a great tip. You're the best! 🙂
Willette
Thanks Willette, this is a great habit to get into daily and your regular weekly or bi-weekly toilet cleaning will be a breeze. No more scouring. Woot Woot!
I love your videos. I can't believe I just watched a video about cleaning a toilet and it was enjoyable. I never knew you didn't need to use the big heavy toilet bowl cleaner every time. My poor toilet eats the buffet almost every day. EEEEEK!!!
Oh no, yes, that is overkill in many situations. If you do a daily tidy up of the toilet you can use far less chemicals in your home.
This is very helpful and I appreciate you sharing this information. Thank you !🚽🚽🚽
Yay. Thanks for watching. It takes a week or so of doing it every morning to get in the groove, then it becomes second nature and just part of your morning cleaning routine. 👏
Another fantastic pro tip! Love that you pay attention to details/methods for doing things right with least caustic products. I go very easy on the harsh chemicals like toilet cleaner but never thought of using Comet (although always have Bon Ami for sinks)
Thanks so much, I apprecaite it!
I love your tips, thank you!
Thank you for your kind words and for hanging out here for a few minutes with me today. 💛
Life changing! I will definitely be doing this from now on.
That's awesome to hear, let me know how it goes :-)
Love this kind of video on basic everyday cleaning video. It's really common sense, but I can implement this into my routine. Thanks
Thanks for watching and yes, the routine is simple. Ten seconds at most and gives a brief sense of cleaning accomplishment to start the day. Thanks for accepting the challenge. I'm proud of you. 👏
Awesome feedback!!!
Thanks for watching and for taking the time to drop me a line. It's great to have you here.
My mom always used Comet. I don't know why I never transitioned to it but I will. I guess I am a sucker for advertising and the nuclear approach to cleaning! I love your channel, please keep up the wonderful tips. I have severe RA and learn so much from your content. While I'm not your target audience I do learn lots of tips and tricks that keep me motivated to keep moving and keep my house in order. So once again thank you!! Stay Safe!!
Thanks for watching and it doesn't matter if you are our target audience or not. We are thrilled you've joined us just the same. You are welcome here, always. 😍🙏💛
Great advice, and it is VERY environmentally friendly.
It's true. A daily quick scrub doesn't require any chemicals and can be done in a few seconds. Doing this daily removes the need for heavy-duty acids on your weekly clean which is also environmentally friendly. 👍
Silicon toilet brush and “lifted” container allows it dry faster and not gross. I clean after every use. Great suggestion on comet. I use dish cleaner or something natural. I’ll use bar keepers friend because I think it’s more environmental friendly and less harsh.
Yes to both of the things you mentioned. Mr. Siga has a silicone brush amzn.to/3EaPjlZ like the one you mentioned with the lifting capabilities so it air-dries out the back rather than leaving your brush sandwiched between the rim and toilet seat. Thanks for mentioning it. 👍👍👍
Genius tip! I never saw silicone toilet brushes in my country but now I need one 😂
I always learn SOMETHING! Love it. The Comet 1x a week. Thanks!☺️
Yay! Thanks for watching. And any powdered cleanser will do - Comet is a good, and inexpensive choice and readily available in most shopping centers here in the USA.
Great video! Thank you 👍😺
It's so great having you here. :-)
I can do it and it's so easy. Thank you for the great motivation
Yay! You've accepted the challenge. Hip Hip Hooray! The world now has one cleaner toilet. 👏
Yes I have wondered how often a person should clean the toliet.Im glad you answered that question.
Now you know...lol. Thanks fir taking the time to watch the video, I appreciate it!
Great advice 👏👏!! Using Comet is such a great idea.
Thanks for watching. Comet works really well for maintenance cleaning. It's inexpensive, readily available all over the USA, effective, and not as risky as other stronger chemicals that have drips, dyes and the chance to ruin things like bath mats or towels if it accidentally spills.
Hola, Biggest thank you from Perú, South America. Before Covid I had staff to take care of everything, your tips are simply great.
Hello and welcome from the USA. I am so thrilled you've found me here and delighted you spent a few minutes of your day with me. 👏👏👏
I clean our toilet every day in the morning after I use it, as you suggested. However, I never realized just using the plain water which is in the bowl for simple cleaning. Great advise and I’ll try your method. Thanks
Let me know if you like it! I appreciate you being here :-)

Great idea!😊
Thank you so much for the feedback!❤
Thank you! This probably sounds crazy but it's changed my life. I don't do it daily but a few times a week. I got one of the brushes with the under rim brush and this is revolutionary. I didn't know that existed.
That is awesome! Kudos to you...keep it up!
Gracias!!!🥰
👍
I'm starting this method today❤
Great!! Let us know if it helps!🙂🙂🙂
🙌 Awesome! Thanks for sharing that! 🙂
I’m using these disposable pads. I don’t like them and will try this method. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for spending a few minutes of your day here with me :-) Let me know how this method goes for you!
Since I’ve only ever had one bathroom, I try to clean it every day. Every day I give it a quick wipe down and three or four times a week, I clean the floor, behind the toilet, and the entire toilet apparatus. Once a week I scrub the sink with comet and the rest of the week I spray it with some sort of spray cleaner and wipe it down. The tub I don’t really worry that much about. I give it a quick clean as needed but once a week I scrub with comet. So, I basically do what you are recommending. Lol!! I try to follow the Fly Lady, and she said to fill a toilet brush container with some water and some shampoo, body wash or something soapy that you either don't like anymore or you decide that's what you're going to use, and keep your toilet brush in it and every morning, take it out and swish your toilet with it. I haven't done that yet, but, I do clean my toilet with something every day. Where I'm renting now, sometimes the toilet gets this pink stuff on the bowl, so I spray it with Lime Away or CLR and it goes away. That's a on a need to basis.
Thanks so much for sharing your cleaning tips, I appreciate you : )
thank you... have loved your vids. i came to see what you used on toilets to see if i could do things better. alas, we can't do it this way... ever since the dif droughts in cali we've done the "if it's yellow, let it mellow" to conserve water... sigh. that said, i can certainly do a brush down once we flushed. thanks for all your tips maybe that will help w/the mineral build up.
Thanks for watching the show and leaving a comment. 👍
My new favorite cleaner is Dawn platinum dish soap diluted 3/1 it cleans every thing and a little goes a long way. 💕
It's hard to beat Dawn. It's safe for most applications and does a great job as a degreaser. Thanks for sharing your tip.
All this advice sounds good! I do brush my toilet everyday !
Thank you for watching the show.
I was seeing so many videos of pple dumping 3 or 4 different products into the bowl to clean the toilet. I kept reminding myself that it's 1. Dangerous 2. Wasteful 3. Expensive.
I can definitely get behind a daily brush and switching to comet on my weekly scrub. Thanks for such great content!
Thanks for watching and for your vote of confidence. The main reason people use so many chemicals is they are hoping to replace elbow grease so they don't have to scrub. The key is to "maintain" the clean so you don't have to use the chemical or the elbow grease. 👏👏👏
I do clean my toilet at least a little pretty much every day -- but definitely not at the beginning of the day! I'm as far from a morning person as it's possible to get and always, without fail, feel my absolute worst of the day when I first wake up. I definitely can't handle chores then. I can barely manage fixing just myself up for the day. So instead it's around the middle or end part of my day that I'll clean my toilet or do any other chores.
It really doesn't matter what time of day you choose to clean it, just getting around to it everyday is already excellent! I'm very much a morning person myself, and I find mornings the best time for me.
This is totally off topic, but I have that bidet and it’s awesome!
That is so cool. Thanks for sharing that. They are becoming quite popular here in the states since covid and the global toilet paper shortage.
This is awesome! I kind of went off toilet brushes, due to the state of some clients ones and the yucky water they store it in, that's needs cleaned! 😬 My pet hate lol! I was using an old scourer and gloves. I never thought to leave to drip dry! Will do that! When I have those tiny slivers of soap bars, I pop them in the cistern! I found that somewhere!
Thank you for your feedback and thanks for watching. 🙂
Angela thanks so much for all of your expertise. This post was quite timely for me. I just bought a Kaboom Scrub Free Continuous Clean. Before I open the box and install, I'd like your thoughts and perspective.
My thoughts is that there is a danger warning on the front of the packaging that warns of being corrosive and harmful to skin and eyes. If you don't have to use harmful chemicals in your daily cleaning don't.
@@AskAngelaBrown Thx.
Always appreciate your cleaning advice, thank you! Learned to use Comet from my Mom (& I'm kicking 73), so that 10, less environmentally harsh rating was good to hear. What are your thoughts about using Comet regularly when cleaning the bathtubs & sinks as well?
Comet is a great product and if used properly can be used without harming or scratching tubs, showers and sinks. They key is to use the non-scratch scrub sponges (in BLUE) amzn.to/3DNnkc7 and stay away from the yellow and green ones that have stronger scrubbing power and can scratch your appliances. Thanks for watching and for checking in. :-)
@@AskAngelaBrown 👍
Yes
Thanks for watching!
I have been doing this for years. It is so easy. It makes such a difference!
Why does my hubby still think it's a once a week thing?😂There are times I have let it go a week...just to see what will happen and I HATE skipping this step. I notice yucky stuff starting to form very fast...he isn't bothered by it at all!
LOL. Ah, the day will come when you will skip things (not to see if your husband notices) but because a life-altering event or a priority shift will change your plans. The silent husband who "lets it slide" is a blessing in disguise. 😍🙏😍
♥️
My LEAST favorite chore, and you made it so simple. A practical solution!
Exactly! The more you do it, the easier it is every time you clean. Makes cleaning the toilet super quick and not time consuming at all.
Thank you for this great video. I would like the same video in a shorter version dedicated to teen and young adults of the house.. without the part with the food unless their focus will change... (i don't know the powder, i have a green liquid in a bottle that works perfect.. when it is used) 😅
Hi Isabelle, thanks so much for your comments and I agree this would be a fascinating video. When you make it, please tag me, I'd love to see it too. :-)
Thanks for the tips! What do you use for the spray cleaner?
Hey Sean, this is the spray I used in the video: Resolve Urine Destroyer Spray Stain & Odor Remover. You can find it here: amzn.to/3HLKQZm
That was great tips I am going to try that what gets rid of the black line where the water comes out inside the toilet it was like the since bought are codo ty
What does the water inside the toilet tank look like? That might be the culprit. If you clean up under the rim daily you'll be able to keep it from turning black again once cleaned.
I use just a drop of my favorite dish soap into the toilet and swish the toilet daily. I wash the rest of the toilet with my weekly cleaning schedule and right before any special time when having guests.
Just curious, but where in the bathroom do you store the dish soap for the daily use? And is this a process for each bathroom in the house or just the one that is used the most?
@@AskAngelaBrown
I keep a small bottle on the ledge of the bathtub of Dawn dish soap. I put a drop in the toilet daily and swish the toilet. I swipe the counter top down daily. I use a microfiber cloth weekly in the shower. Once a month I use a mixture of Dawn, white vinegar and water on the shower walls and tub to clean the water marks. I use this method for each bathroom.
@@AskAngelaBrown
I also have the responsibility of cleaning a public park and rental banquet room restrooms. These are done daily and after and between rental functions. Swishing toilets and urinals frequently helps for maintaining a fresh clean appearance. Keeping the trash can emptied between functions helps with odors.
@@AskAngelaBrown
I watch your channel all the time for tips and learning how to do things in a more efficient manner. Thank you for all your time and effort in your videos.
@@AskAngelaBrown
If you have any type of cupboard in your bathroom the dish soap could be kept there. I currently have a cupboard over the toilet that I can store the soap in while having company. It's just easy to have it on the tub ledge that's right next to the toilet with this current bathroom layout. They have some new toilet brush holders that could hide the soap container with the brush.
I use comet in my tub but didn’t think to use it for the toilet 🚽. Good video as usual ✨
Thanks for watching. Yes, it's a multi-purpose cleaner that works great in toilets to keep quick cleaning in check.
@@AskAngelaBrown plus it’s inexpensive. I’m redoing my list for cleaning products to lower some costs so I’m happy 😃.
Angela, your cleaning videos are so helpful and I really appreciate them. I do have a question for you concerning the toilet. There is a definite odor of urine whenever I walk into the main bathroom in our home and honestly, I don’t know why. I’ve cleaned everything more than once and used comet, bathroom cleaner, and even some bleach, but it’s still there. I took down the shower curtain and liner and washed them (since by now, I was washing down everything and anything). Do you have any suggestions as to what this might be and what I can do about it. Thanks so much and sorry to bring up such a gross subject but that’s what I’m dealing with these days.
Hi L. It's tough to know why but a urine smell suggests urine in places where it shouldn't be. There are a couple of really great enzyme cleaners on the market, Rocco & Roxie Stain & Odor Eliminator amzn.to/31gvETC and the other Angry Orange amzn.to/3pa3phm. Cleaning the floor around the toilet, the base of the toilet and the walls behind the toilet will help control these smells. If this doesn't work you may want to try an ozone generator. This is the one I use to decompose powerful smells amzn.to/3pflomr (just remove people, plants and pets when using it - like if you're not going to be at home for a few hours.)
I had this problem in my main floor bathroom where the kids use the most. After some research I found good ole vinegar does the trick. I sprayed the entire toilet area down and went to work. Smell was gone instantly. Hope this helps!
Angela, you suggested the Clorox toilet brush system with the disposable sponges. I ran out and got one and even got a big box of refills. You indicated that you could use the wand to clean all over the toilet like under the lid, around the base, etc before finishing the bowl and disposing of the sponge. Well the problem I’m having is that the color in the sponge is such a dark blue that I can’t use it anywhere but in the bowl itself. In fact when some bath water got in the floor it caused the sponges in the caddy to stain the grout dark blue. Is this a new feature? It’s very annoying!
Thanks for your excellent channel. I’ve become a much better and more effective housekeeper at my own home. Just thought you should know about the product you suggested. Have a great day!
Hi TalkShowKelly, The disposable wand is designed for inside the bowl. You can scrub up under the rim but that is still inside the toilet. It's important to note that you can use it in the neck of the toilet near where you flush, but it's not supposed to come out of the toilet around the base of the toilet. The wet sponges will stain anything it touches.
Another important thing to note is that if the toilet has be scratched by a pumice stone and the porcelain coating has been scratched off, the toilet wand sponge (or any colored toilet bowl cleaner) can stain those scratched places as well.
Thanks so much for the feedback. I appreciate you. 🙏
@@AskAngelaBrown any suggestions for getting the staining out from inside the toilet from the disposable sponge wand?
My ocd has an issue with cleaning the bathroom. I usually avoid doing it because it takes so much out of me when I do clean it. Hopefully I will get past this and be able to clean it more. I haven't cleaned the toilet bowl in over a year... Yeah I know its gross. But that's the one thing in my bathroom that I can't get myself to do. How calm you are really helps me and I think I'm going to clean the bowl.
I should note that I do the other bathroom cleaning once a month and the floors get cleaned everyday
Please no hate. My ocd is a bully and I can only do so much.
How is it going? Have a look up the cleaning system of Flylady. Routines and regular small tasks every day. 4 days a week helps. it starts with kitchen clean sink, evening routine , morning routine, load of laundry every time or so and decluttering. Probably spends about 30mins tops on it all every day. I use set my alarm 15mins earlier. It takes about 3 months to see a big difference over the whole house and garden and life but a week is good to see progress! Good luck and you can do anything!!
Yep! I clean our toilet every single day, sometimes twice. Just OCD that way.
I can only imagine how clean it is. LOL. Great habits to get into though, you'll never have a tough scrubbing job on your hands. Thanks for the inspiration. :-)
I have an all purpose cleaner. I spray over the are Use a microfiber cloth to clean the area daily. Also some goes inside the bowl. Once a week i Use a special cleaner. (Toddler in the house, i might do 4 touch ups a Day)
Yes, the rules change a bit when there are toddlers in the house. Thanks for sharing these wise tips with us. :-)
I keep liquid dish soap under the sink in my bathroom for this purpose. Just a drop or two in a freshly flushed toilet. Quick swish and swipe. I'll let the brush sit in the soap for a bit while I brush my teeth (yes, after washing my hands), then I'll flush and rinse it and leave it to dry - Which it is by the time I'm done my shower. And...love Comet. Good for so many things. Just not daily.
I love this. I'm imagining you do all these things. Great details, thank you for explaining and sharing your tips. 👏
Using only water would not feel as clean as the cleaning solution helps to break surface tension. I spray, scrub, then wipe down the seat daily with a basic cleaning solution, nothing heavy duty.
Every few days more thorough cleaning.
Thank you for watching and joining the conversation!!
We don't have a toilet brush, if something stick, we have a big squeezy water bottle, and that can be used to break it up by aiming the jet of water from it. I think toilet brushes are gross, and we got rid of them when we had todddlers around. Toddlers LOVE to play with toilet brushes. I clean the toilet with disposable wipes which are made for the purpose, and dry with kitchen towel after wiping. Bleach once a week. There is no need for a daily clean unless somebody did something to make that neccessary.
Thank you for watching the video and leaving a comment.
And what do you recommend to spray on the outside when you wipe it down?
Under every video we make on the left side under the show description are the words SHOW MORE. If you click on those you'll find links to all the products we use and recommend. As a professionals we use OdoBan Professional Cleaning 32X Bathroom Cleaner amzn.to/3xeUjDv which is certified Safer Choice and Earth Choice.
I can't believe no one has mentioned your bidet. In case anyone is contemplating the purchase, we just got one, $33 on amazon and it is Life Changing. I'm writing this on vaca so am missing it. It strangely seems to keep the toilet cleaner and definitely don't miss all the toilet paper crumbs.
Exactly! I recommend a bidet for everyone, it's a great investment and easy to clean.
I have this same exact bidet, and yes, I agree with you, it is a total Life Changer!! I even will wait an hour to get home so I don't have to use potty without it!!
Hi Angela, what are you spraying on the toilet to wipe it down with?Thank you for the wonderful videos
Good eye, it is 32X Bathroom Cleaner by Odoban. This is the paid link so you can see what it looks like amzn.to/3LxQKii it is a concentrate that we dilute and put in professional spray bottles from Zep.(amzn.to/3y3ZetI) Thanks for asking and for watching. 😍
Thank you Angela, I will be purchasing both today, because I believe those are the same bottles that you spoke of in other videos and I need some in my home.
0:33 thanks for that visual
LOL. That is the creativity of my editor Kristin. The goal is to find images that help tell the best possible story. She gets a thumbs up for that one - you're right. ;-)
Thank you! I have learned I am not cleaning my toilet enough!
Hooray! The key is to spend an extra 10 seconds a day to create a new habit and it will never take you very long to maintain it. Thanks for watching. :-)
I would need to add in cleaning the top rim since I live with men who dribble and drip on the ledge that the brush would be sitting to dry.
Agreed. For you, we'll add in the extra step of cleaning the rim daily. LOL. 😝
What are your feelings on using a tablet in the tank such as t dy tablet or a Chlorex tank tablet to help keep bowl clean. Thank you.
My experience is that tablets in the tank can keep the toilet clean. I've also noticed that the rubber flapper plugs that cover the drain have to be replaced more frequently as some chemicals dissolve them while dissolving gunk. If you don't have iron or hard water or a reason to use heavy-duty chemicals, don't. I've known homeowners that just liked having blue water in their toilet - with no real good reasons other than the color.
@@AskAngelaBrown Me too!!! I loved those tablets but then I saw that they started to dissolve rubber parts inside the tank! I stopped immediately and now I have lots of tablets I need to throw out!
I want to correct one thing you said...a pH of 1 is very corrosive (acidic) but so is a pH of 10...it's just basic (like lye) and is very corrosive also.
Thanks for leaving a comment.
Every day!!!!
👍
Wow, you've got a lot of energy! I'd hate to have to keep up with you for a whole day.
Thanks for dropping by. It's great to have you here. :-)
😮 what kind of a comment is this? Rude. Do better
@@erickalmestar it's not rude, relax! It's actually a compliment!
Thank you Angela. What's the best product(s) for stains under the toilet seat? We just moved in our home 2 months ago and there's a stain that keep building up but no one is peeing on the rim its driving me nuts
Have you tried Krud Kutter to remove the stain? Here is a paid link to learn more about their products: www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/krud-kutter/household-cleaners/heavy-duty-cleaner-and-disinfectant
@@AskAngelaBrown I'll look into it thank you 😊
How often should I clean my toilet brush and how do I clean it?
Hi Kim, I recommend cleaning your toilet brush once a week by simply soaking it in (clean) toilet water with a couple capfuls of bleach poured into it. You should replace the brush every six months or so.
What wipes do you use to do the weekly clean on toilet exterior?
We just use Bounty Paper towels. 4 half sheets to be exact, folded in half so we can use each side on a different area before tossing. It prevents cross contamination by using paper towels instead of microfiber cloths or sponges.
I use 1 Clorox wipe for the outside. I like to disinfect the whole toilet in the weekly clean, so don't need to use a paper towel.
Thank you good video. I need the heavy duty stuff down mine it's a horrible greeny brown colour and the bleach is not working.
Are you on well water? I know lots of toilets I've seen that match the description are connected to wells. Just curious what you use to clean your toilets?
@@AskAngelaBrown No I'm not on well water. I use just standard supermarket bleach. I have asda brand at the moment.
Do you have a septic-safe alternative to the comet? We have well water so it's hard and has lots of iron. I've managed to keep it from staining, but I'm trying to find alternative products.
The septic-safe alternative is to clean the toilet for a few seconds every day not using any chemicals at all. Doing a daily maintenance keeps you from needing chemicals at each clean. For septic systems you can use Comet Natural Cleaner Without Bleach amzn.to/3ocbcMm
Omg I love how she uses a food analogy for cleaning toilets. She definitely loves cleaning way too much! As a professional cleaner though, she is right. 😂
LOL. It's not just toilets - its cleaning chemicals in general. You don't need the gigantic mac daddy version of cleaning chemicals to do a daily routine maintenance clean.
@@AskAngelaBrown you are so right. I was cracking up though. I love your style! I subscribed to get all your helpful info!
Angela, do you have any suggestions specific to the CeFiONtect glaze for Toto models that need deep stain removel? I am having limited succeess w baking soda.
This is a question for TOTO. They have some fancy promises about their technology, and they probably have some proprietary cleaner that won't void your warranty. I'd give them a ring.
That said, if it were a toilet in my house, I would treat it like any regular toilet. Just because a surface has a coating that "repels germs" the toilet is still used in the same way as any other toilet, and it will still collect dust, pee, poop and flushing overspray.
I have extra car soap that I’m using in the bathroom. It’s gentle on all surfaces.
Thanks so much for watching the video and sharing your cleaning tip about car soap.
We have that same Bidet. Do you have any tips on cleaning around and behind the part hanging down in the toilet without disassembling it?
It is self cleaning and the door opens gently. So when you brush your toilet each day, be careful when cleaning behind it, and when you do your weekly clean spray it and hand wipe it with a paper towel. Because of the self-cleaning feature that happens automatically each time you use it, there shouldn't be any build up on it. It's easy. Just be careful. :-)
Thank you. I was thinking of trying an old toothbrush.
Love the happy face
thumbs up emoji.👍😉🚽
Thanks for sharing in the good cheer! :-)
Be aware that no all toilets perform a COMPLETE exchange of bowl water when flushed. I always flush twice before cleaning with bowl water and especially with the advent of low consumption toilets.
Thanks for the tip. I appreciate your comments. :-)
Sounds great 👍
I always thought it was a bit excessive to use caustic cleaners, and to wipe down the whole toilet with a spray cleaner every day for maintenance as so many people suggest.
The challenge is to get people in a habit they will do consistently. Most people won't actually get out cleaning chemicals (it's too much trouble) to clean and wipe down the toilet each day. Or they will rationalize that they didn't get the toilet "that dirty." So the daily buildup turns to weekly buildup and beyond. The daily 10-second habit will maintain the toilet until the next clean. It's perfect, and almost anybody can do it.
@@AskAngelaBrown thank you. You are so helpful .
I have a guest bathroom that is not used all the time so when it sits idle (lol) I pop in a couple of denture tablets in and let it just sit there until my next guest use the bathroom. I heard about this from a friend years ago.
Great tip. We do encourage people to use those restrooms once a week or so for this very reason. Cycle the water through the plumbing, scrub out the toilet and keep the rings at bay. Do you put the tablets just in the bowl or also the tank?
For some reason I had denture tablets, and also figured out to pop them in the toilet for a quick clean before guests come over, but 8 wouldn't put them in the tank. I don't want to stress the rubber, etc with chemicals.
@@AskAngelaBrown I put them in the bowl as I was told by a plumber years ago not to put anything in the tank. Love your channel!!
What would you say to cleaning the tank of the toilet? I just moved recently and the toilet emits like a strange smell like I cleaned the toilet but it didn’t go away it faint, but I think it’s something to do with the tank needing a cleaning itself. Like grime build up or something. I was wondering if you had any tips for this?
I've seen where you turn off your water supply for the toilet, drain the tank of all water, spray either cleaning vinegar or something in the tank, let it sit for a couple of hours, then scrub it off. You might have to do more spraying and soaking depending on the toilet, but, after its cleaned as well as its going to be or completely, you turn your water back on and let the tank fill back up with water, and you should be good to go.
It might be missed splatters between the tank and bowl, e.g. if someone ‘overshot’ the bowl at the back. Specifically if the tank is a separate piece from the bowl. Turn the water off underneath, then flush to empty the tank and remove it. Chances are, there’s some yuck there. Videos here on UA-cam can help you taking the tank off.
@@ProudKansan08 or, just chuck in a couple denture cleaning tablets, when you go to bed for the night. In the morning, flush and the tank will be clean!
HI. I am sorry to be so late in replying. Others have shared some great tips and I hope you got it resolved. Thank you so much for watching. 😊
My toilet broke recently had all these “filthy” issues with bowl rings, water stains almost daily and I bought a Delta brand toilet from Home Depot with self-cleaning technology for under $150.00 and not believing it was going to be any different. OMG, whilst I do clean it, I don’t have to clean. This toilet never gets a stain or a ring and it’s water conservative. Not sure how it’s made or what they applied to the porcelain bowl, but it never gets dirty and it’s been over 3 months.
Oh wow, that's great! Thanks for sharing!
I use powdered citric acid once a week. I let it sit for about 15 minutes, use the brush, then flush. Keeps the hard water build up away and smells like lemons
Great tip, thanks for sharing. Do you use it in a shaker form or is there a tablet you use?
@@AskAngelaBrown I use a scoop from an empty powdered detergent bag. I like the shaker idea!
@@saturdaisy8576 save a parmesan cheese shaker, wash out and fill. Those lids also fit on some Mason jars.
