This bring back some memories. I taught myself to rebuild my 96 4x4 Tahoe transmission 13 years ago. It had 285k miles and I was still driving it. It would slip going to 2nd and 3rd @ 75% throttle or more. It also didn't have any engine braking. The aluminum forward clutch housing was cracked and losing pressure. The forward clutches were almost weld togather. I used a steel forward clutch housing from a used 4L60e. I had been using it to learn on. The transmission work on the first try but the pump was leaking and it had a 3rd gear shift flair. It took me a year to figure out the part store sold me a 4 cylinder spacer plate. The 3rd gear check ball hole was too small and I had to drill it out. The transmission last 3 years until I sold the truck.

If you don't fix the problem's gm created and you go by factory oil clearances you have built a shit box just as the factory did union labor is why if you don't understand how it works you can't make it better fact.
