  • @peters6119
    @peters6119 5 років тому +65

    The commentator was acting like every event was the biggest thing ever. There was so much hype right from the 100m. Mayer has so much balance across the entire decathlon. The only event under 850 points was the 1500 and his PB of 4:18 in the 1500 would have been 825 points but he didn't need to run that fast to smash the WR. No other athlete has ever matched his consistency across all the events. Same total score both days. This is a great WR.

    • @cf_judge_dennis
      @cf_judge_dennis 3 роки тому

      True. Since your comment, Niklas Kaul exceeded 800 points in every single event of his decathlon at the world championships in Doha and to my knowledge, he is the only decathlete in history to do so. His total result was far from 9000 points, but the consistency is impressive nonetheless.

    When I watch it recapped like this it clearly shows just how close to a perfect decathlon this was. If not setting a personal best, he was within just a few points. Days like this come once in lifetime for most athletes. Having the chance to witness this as it was happening was something very special. I've been in the sport for many years and always followed the multis... Daley, Jurgen, Dan, Dave, Roman, Clay, Trey, Ashton and now this kid. I wonder just who can tap into a two-day performance to match or better this one. Unbelievable.

    • @marcusblixt7310
      @marcusblixt7310 5 років тому +3

      Chris Holloman Yes! Truly incredible! And that’s what made him beat Ashton Eaton’s WR. Overall Ashton still has better personal records but he never got that almost perfect decathlon like Kevin got here!

    • @marcusblixt7310
      @marcusblixt7310 5 років тому +1

      Ragnar Lodbrok Interesting! But when I counted together their records as points Eaton came out with a total of 9544 and Mayer with 9366. How did you calculate your results? Because if you just took raw numbers and calculated how many precent better ones personal record is in relation to the other persons then that would be misguiding as for example a difference in .5 meters in the shot put would equal a difference in 60 points . But a difference in 60 points in the 400m would only be a difference of 1.17 second which is procentally less compared to another 400m time (which are around 45-50) than between two shot puts of the same point difference (16-18m).

    • @marcusblixt7310
      @marcusblixt7310 5 років тому +1

      Ragnar Lodbrok Okay! Great analysis then! Shows how great of an all round athlete Kevin is. Always loved Eaton tho, he’s one of my all time favorites! Both of them are tremendous athletes and inspirations for young athletes like myself!

      For me kevin can do better when you see and listen to his after world record video he can do better, he has got only 26 and he can do better in some event 400 m , and 1500 m where he explained that he was afraid injuries otherwise he could have done 10 seconds less in 1500. he can progress in javelin and pole volt where his best is 5. 60 m . For me he can progress a lot in throws events because he is still young and can improve his technique.

      “And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family?
      Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else awas at hand?...

      ‘We shall unleash the Nihilists and the atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute atheism, origin of savagery and of the most bloody turmoil.
      Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in the public view.
      This manifestation will result from the general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time.’

The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." ― C.S. • @santeenl
      @santeenl 5 років тому +2

      What is this for a stupid idea? I think football should be 2x1 hour and every team should be only 6 players and 3 should be only at the defending half and 3 others should be at the offensive side and the first team to score 5 points wins regardless. This is basically what you are saying about decathlon.

    • @christose9247
      @christose9247 5 років тому

      soccer should have a modified offsides rule where you can be 1 second ahead of the ball even if you're past the last defender.
      offsides kills plays. it is designed to stop people from camping near the goal but it instead it creates another problem of offsides net which is a massive bore and disallows proper breaks. instead we have the dominant form of play being lucrative touches and jukes that can be beaten simply by not being a stupid defender.
      the other problems I have with soccer isn't so much one with gameplay but in how ties are resolved and how strongly incentivized players are to provoke fouls once they realize the ball is dead and they won't be getting a scoring opportunity because of either how far ahead of the rest of their team they are, how far into the corner they are, or how many defenders have dropped.
      it's an art to making falling flat on the ground seem like someone else's fault and it's silly.

      Yes, but the throws were not Eaton's strength. His strengths were the 100, long, 400, hurdles.... the speed events. Mayer can't compete with Eaton in those events, just like Eaton could not compete with Mayer in the throws.

    I understand that the 1500m is such an unimportant event and they don't focus too much training on it but its funny seeing these crazy good athletes run times that would be considered decent for high schoolers, regardless an amazing accomplishment! congrats Mayer!

    • @carter87.86
      @carter87.86 Рік тому

      It's because none of them have a 1500m physique and it's the 10th event. A world class 1500m runner would struggle to run a respectable time after 9 events in less than 36 hours, Kevin said he could barely feel his legs and get any speed from them in the pole vault, he ended the high jump and pole vault still with attempts left to preserve himself. It's not realistic to expect fast times

    bien joué a kevin mayer . beau record mondial qui n'est pas facile de prendre a ashton eaton
    . mais j'admire plus les performences mondiales de l'americain surtout au 100m , saut longueur
    saut hauteur , 110mh , 400m et 1500m .
    disons que le head to head jusqu'a maintenant est en faveur de l'americain qui domine 6
    epreuves contre seulement 4 pour le francais .
