SOLD: 1973 Volvo P1800 ES

- Sold here was a very appealing 1973 Volvo P1800 ES. The car is personally owned and was tastefully modified by the former in-house mechanic at The Murphy Automobile Museum in Oxnard, California.
The vehicle has been refinished with the stock Volvo color which is very handsome. It is further enhanced with earlier Volvo newly chromed side moldings plus chrome bumpers which really set the car off beautifully. Power comes by a 1973 engine modified with carburetors and paired with a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The vehicle stops with 4-wheel disc brakes. The interior dash has been changed with an earlier model dash without the woodgraining. Porsche seats have been installed.
All-in-all this Volvo is striking and a real head-turner. I believe whoever purchases this fine automobile will be thrilled upon delivery.

There was never an 1800es with black bumpers...and they all had chrome side pieces.
Sorry Flyte, the owner is correct. The trim is retrospective and he's done a great job of it - and thank goodness he deleted the ghastly US-spec side indicators. If it was for sale now I'ld be Very interested in it but we are buying one out of the UK right now, so that's an opportunity lost.
@@ZoomStranger Looking at this video again... Yes, it does look better without those icky side markers. I think I'll take mine off also. And I really like how he put in a chrome grill instead of the black plastic ones that came with the ES new.
I used to own an ES back from 75 - 81 and the bumpers were always factory chrome. He did retro-fit the bumpers from the 60's that had the wings, but they were always chrome. Not sure what year the wings went away, but am guessing it was 66 or 67.
The side trim is also retro from the 60's models, but the 73 had chrome side trim just a different style.@@ZoomStranger

Lol, I had one same colour with the Bosch fuel injection, my wife wanted to move it on as well. That body style was highly susceptible to rust and when I started to see rust coming I got rid of it.
