    Maybe I missed it, but how long did you cut the pieces? Guesstimating about 5".
    Starting to collect advertising signs that have been trashed. Don't believe I'm saying this, but I'm looking forward to the next election.🙂

    I heat from either end and let the colors run. Quench when it "looks good". And then clear coat.

    Great Idea!! Another source for these could be flower stands. The ones they use for funeral flowers. I use them in the garden for tomatoes,beans and such. Flower shops and graveyard usually have some they can't use anymore and will let you have them. Be Sure to ask...!!

    Another great video! I just made some of these and I AND my wife are very happy with them. I cleaned them on a wire wheel, filed the edges before twisting and then I used Sno-Seal on them. It doesn't darken near as much as beeswax. Looking forward to the other form of these. Thanks, Gary

    I collect political signs for target holders to sight in rifle scopes, getting some trigger time in on my service weapon or just plinking with a .22. Never thought about recycling the metal stands in this way. I'll give it a go closer to Christmas.

    brass brush?

  • @dancrampton
    @dancrampton 6 років тому

    Going to do this! Couple of ideas: Try buffing them to a high shine. Also, try brushing them with a brass brush.

      I use brass brushing on a lot of things, but thought I would try a different approach on these. To buff it will require sanding progressively finer to 600 grit or finer prior to buffing for a truly high shine.

      Thanks. I will try to keep doing a balance of both since some prefer one format over the other.

      It's all personal preference. I do enjoy your videos and buy the way I was a firefighter for 20 years so we have two things in common!
