  • Deus Ex's bionic limbs are being made for real. Eidos Montreal announced that they are working alongside Open Bionics and Razer to bring a series of affordable bionic hands to market.
Open Bionics will use 3D printing to bring these limbs to market, and will be providing its blueprints and designs royalty free, allowing consumers to modify and create them at home.
The use of bionic limbs is a central theme within the upcoming Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, whose protagonist, Adam Jensen, is equipped with his own bionic arm upon which Open Bionic's new prototype design is based on.

My arm just fell off. Oh well! Better get a replacement, because stitching it back would just be stupid and cliché.

i doubt it makes sense, our limbs are very advanced technologically speaking, a robotic arm might be more strong or resilient (not sure about it though) but even then if you want better performance just take an exoskeleton no need to lose a limb

well I'm guessing your relating this comment to masturbation which is natural at the age of 16 or above the age of ten however I think he just put it their for showing his support to people who have deformities or lost a limb due to medical situation but if you were thinking ideally then in a idealistic mind the child or teen would be doing their best of enjoying life as a kid and a teenager which to have a good life you have to work hard and commit to your craft aka work if you don't show your bosses you can handle extra work they will just think you are just trash and put you on till for the rest of your life in my eyes

As a die-hard science fiction fan since the time I could read, this has been a long time in the making and it feels absolutely brilliant to have the notions and ideas I had as a child vindicated in this manner. We are a hop, skip and a jump away from a future where replacing a body-part isn't only viable, but actually desirable. All we need is to figure out how to replicate all the smaller nuances, such as the sensation of touch, and even in that regard we're not too far off.
What a time to be alive.

I for one have my left hand crushed in a machine press and struggle with even every day tasks think that it wouldnt even be possible. My hopes were lost and seeing this i can have something to look forward to in the future. I wish i could have the opportunity to try this project to see if it could better my life.

This is pretty cool. but what I want to see with it is what this one guy did with an old mind flex kit he rigged. He made a BCI for it and hooked it to a 3D printed arm and hooked up the wiring. Based on thoughts as normal, he was able to move the external 3D printed hand using his brain. My thought is if you manage to filter the frequencies to get the ones for the correct arm or hand, then moving your prosthetic will be as easy as moving a normal limb. It'll take time and all, but with practice and relatively cheap materials (again an old mind flex) you can build up and make it amazing. The future is already here, just have to put it into reality using ingenuity
