One of the R5s biggest issues was that they're apparently easy to hack if captured, as demonstrated on the Rise of the Resistance ride at the Disney theme parks. K-3VIN looks out for all the other Droids that he works with, and he is not afraid to Fight against anyone that Attacks him or his Friends. K-3VIN is the big Enthusiastic, Yet Sarcastic one, who is not afraid to Laugh at any of his droid friends if they fail at something while trying to make a Point. Those are all my Droid Characters.
Mace Windu’s astrometric in cannon during the Clone Wars is R8-B7. So wouldn’t up to the R8 have been recognized in cannon? Even Ashoka and Plo Koon had an R7 and Kit Fisto had a R6.
great video of the r-series! I didn't see the one that was behind the counter in Watto's shop taking oil bath it has a distinct Dome that looks like an older simpler version of an R2 that's the only place I've ever seen it in Star Wars Canon.
@3:20 "Countless innocent droids lost their lives during the terrible attacks on the first and second Death Star" ... As usual, the adorable R-series gets all the "in the wrong place, at the wrong time" war-casualty sympathy. Yet nobody ever mourns the hundreds... NAY, THOUSANDS... of amusing, friendly and sentient table-saws, the roving packs of monastic vacuum cleaners, or our friends, the harmless, easy-listening-music-loving toaster ovens. WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE OTHER INNOCENT APPLIANCES??!?!
Thank you for pointing out that the destruction of the Death Stars were 9/11 times a thousand. Yeah, that's right: Disney has us rooting for victorious terrorists. It would be great to see a movie made in the perspective of the Empire, or the vast majority of its citizens.
haha i like to keep it balanced that's all there were a lot of good imperials that just aren't mentioned. While the Death star was definitely a military target we often forget millions of people died, many of them just support staff and non-combat personnel.
You also have to think about the 2 billion alderanians that were killed by the Death Star and how the power of the Death Star's power could have been abbused to kill even more people
That's all on Leia, she honestly should have just given the base to them instead of lying... Also Alderaan was quite the military target and many citizens supported the Alliance, Leia could have been a little less selfish and think about this: When she lied about Dantooine, what if they believed her and actually blew it up? Yeah, all on her for killing the people that DIDN'T EVEN CARE FOR THE ALLIANCE REMOTELY. See what I mean, no matter how you put it, either someone was destined to die at the hands of the Death Star or Leia would be responsible.
Even if she gave it up, they would have nuked Alderaan anyway. Tarkin had a hard on for his battlestation, and any chance to use it was a good one. That would make a good song though, "Sympathy for the Empire"
there wasn't really a series for him. C-#POs were really all identical in look, bout the only diff model Cybot Galactica made was the M-3PO, which had a distinctive non-humanoid head. Rogue Squadron had one they affectionately nicknamed "Emtrey"
C-3PO is a custom build. Anikin Skywalker used junk parts to personaly manufacture the robot for his mother Shmi. C-3PO is truly one of a kind. Sort of like HK-47. And I do think C3PO was spying for Darth Vader. And Vader new everything the whole time.
Win 10 is more secure, utilizes the more powerful hardware of current day, but prefers using it's OWN programs instead of anything else you might want to install, and requires you to pay money to utilize Office. Oh... and Narrator. Now imagine an R5 or R6 unit like that that.
The R6 is canon because it’s head is an option at the droid depot in galaxys edge which is a canon park and I think they’ve showed up in some of the newer movies
I would definitely scour every source possible to obtain an R7..! Effective sensors and emp-resistance is very useful, but most importantly it is pretty!
3:52 Jedi would replace/upgrade their R4 bodies with R2 heads. So best-of-both-worlds: smart computer and all the fancy electronics, tough and durable R4 chassis. Leaving behind the half-disembodied R4 droids, half-lobotomized R2 droids, and maimed worst-of-both-worlds hybrid machines for some other sucker.
the Q9's ,Ssi-ruuvi and t series droids were all in play for thousands of years . I love the T series droids because they look like dogs with wheels . When was the first droid made in the star wars universe?
Minus the hyperspace navigation, we're probably not far off that sort of technology ourselves. As soon as AI gets smart enough to understand how various mechanical systems function it'll be able to diagnose problems and execute repairs. We can already do that with software so hardware shouldn't be that difficult. Very much looking forward to a point in the not-too-distant future when every household can have a little robot that can fix our cars, computers, washing machines etc. Just need a company that can invest in the idea.
What if the Jedi Temple on Coruscant wasn't built over the ruins of the Sith Temple, but was instead it's own entity? How long would Palpatine have been able to hide/would there have been alternate ways to maneuver around the Jedi while he plotted?
I sexually Identify as an R2 Unit. Ever since I was a boy I dreamed of electrocuting droids and helping destroy disgusting storm-troopers. People say to me that a person being a R2 unit is Impossible and I'm fucking retarded but I don't care, I'm beautiful. I'm having a plastic surgeon install rocket boosters, sensors, and a hologram projector on me right now. From now on I want you guys to call me "R2D2" and respect my right to turn droids into scrap metal.
In the Star Wars RPG, I considered playing as an R9 droid character. Instead, I played an assassin-security droid hybrid with zero memory wipes as an independent bounty hunter before joining the good guys... the robot Han Solo. It was that or a cyborg guy with what I wanted... I chose well. Star Wars does not have memory limits to their droids and computers in the RPG. I did not have rights outside of the Rebels, I even had heroic standards by them, but I was also ignored mostly in Empire space as "just another droid" because I was cosmetically a mere security droid.
My guess about R2 and other unit designations is that they can't possibly be individual to each unit from the factory, cause there aren't enough combinations especially if they're all named 'Model number, one letter, one digit,.... it just couldn't work. So, rather, I think every customer may have their own registry: for a small service like the Naboo Royal Guards, R2-D2 could simply have been given that number cause he was the 262nd droid they'd bought, or the 28th, or something. :)
R6 units are canon as seen in TFA and also don't forget about the R0 units like the one Poe used. The black with orange marking R0-H2 and Jessika Pava's R0-4LO.
I love that Star Wars is so expansive that it has a patent-infringement lawsuit as a major part of its history

Finally, their is TH-34, nicknamed Thea, who is a TC protocol Droid with Feminine Programing. She has Red arms and Legs, a Green Head, and a Brown Body, and Blue eyes. She is very cautious and always watches her step. She often complains about how dirty the ships are. She helps to keep some assembly but a lot of times, the Peace is Broken and TH-34 has to call on B-0B for guidance and assistance.
Last but definitely not Least is K-3VIN ( Nicknamed Kevin ). K-3VIN is a Reprogrammed Ex-Imperial KX-series Security Droid. He has a Brown Right Arm, a Tan colored Body, Head, and Legs, and an Olive Green Left Arm. K-3VIN has a Sarcastic but also Enthusiastic Personality, and he can also be Serious at times. Being the Biggest and tallest of all the Droids, he feels he has the Biggest Responsibility. His Troubling Past Haunts him, and he doesn’t want to remember his Imperial Days.
*facepalms*
They went to silicone heaven
YOu made that reference, bravo.

I remember hearing Jedi Master Kit Fisto call his R6 droid by name in the Clone Wars episode "The Lair Of Grievous".
Love the way this guy does his videos, he convinced me this is totally fact !
I love how they literally made a smash with the R2 and then just went what if this but... For every subsequent model basically
Awesome..I know it's an older video nut I love the R series an collect the figures Its good to see someone else who knows the series
What about the T3 series?
Revan's T3-M4 was a pretty awesome astromech
Doesn't it count?
Reza Rastegarian
RIP T3-M4 you shall be placed in history as the bravest and most awesome Droid ever.
I absolutely love all of the droid lore in Star Wars
Thank you for pointing out that the destruction of the Death Stars were 9/11 times a thousand. Yeah, that's right: Disney has us rooting for victorious terrorists. It would be great to see a movie made in the perspective of the Empire, or the vast majority of its citizens.
No DS's a Legitimate military target. WTC was a civilian target. The high death toll on DS1 & 2 is an incidental, it's a feature of WTC's destruction.
@@reggiebuffat
And WTC wasn't a movie.
3:22 Imperial sympathies confirmed... Always nice to find fellow pro-Imperialists.
haha i like to keep it balanced that's all there were a lot of good imperials that just aren't mentioned.
Sounded more like sympathy for the droids to me than sympathy for the Imperials, which I don't mind.
Even if she gave it up, they would have nuked Alderaan anyway. Tarkin had a hard on for his battlestation, and any chance to use it was a good one.
That would make a good song though,
"Sympathy for the Empire"
I need one w bluetooth and wifi and can order pizza. Great vid as always!
Love this channel, every time i see a new video it just makes my day :)
+Dakota Killis awesome! Thanks
I would like to know more about c3po's extended family
he has none, he was maid by anakin
nope, he's a protocol droid, Anakin found him in a scrapyard and fixed him up. others like him can be seen on the tantive and hoth
there wasn't really a series for him.
His brain is from an old Packard bell the metal is from a drive train of an old Chevy truck and the voice is from a speak and spell
R-5’s have bad motivators
*Buh-dum tsh*
And that’s a fact
and just combust i would just fall on the floor if i lacked motivation not just explode
Finally, something that isn't just a book synopsis for all those people that can't read!
So the newer R4 was a downgrade from the old R2? It's just like Windows 10!
+James DeLano haha I wouldn't say complete downgrade just different the R5 was like windows 10
Windows 10 is the best Windows so far. In terms of security, usability and looks.
Windows 10 is great
It's not a complete downgrade. It's just a weird sidegrade.
Win 10 is more secure, utilizes the more powerful hardware of current day, but prefers using it's OWN programs instead of anything else you might want to install, and requires you to pay money to utilize Office.
Oh... and Narrator.
Now imagine an R5 or R6 unit like that that.
You should do another video like this one BB Droids
Customer Service: “Hello, how can I help you?”
Me: “Hi, I think something’s wrong with my astro droid, it’s nav computer crashed me into an asteroid!”
R2 began his journey as an astromech droid of Queen Amidala's Nubian J-type royal ship maintenance droid team.
Awesome Video!!!
Dylan I'm with you, I like him he certainly does his homework and on the whole it's usually interesting
thanks yea research is usually pretty fun a lot of times I end up learning a lot myself
He most certainly does not.
Lol Wedge Antilles the droid killer at 4:26
always great stuff!
+Jason Schultz thanks!
Awesomeness so cool
Thank you
I love R2D2 was a lil atromech in the original trilogy but in the prequels was a legit badass.
The R6 is canon because it’s head is an option at the droid depot in galaxys edge which is a canon park and I think they’ve showed up in some of the newer movies
Did you hear about the AMC pilot live action Jedi series ? Think Walking Dead but with Star Wars !
it's funny you should talk about that, the next episode i'm doing is going talk about zombies and star wars
Wait....wahaaaaaa
Generation Tech You mean Death Troopers? 😀
This channel is just awesome
+Peter Perez your awesome
Generation Tech your star wars knowledge is impeccable.
terrible attacks on the death stars........great episode as usual
I would definitely scour every source possible to obtain an R7..! Effective sensors and emp-resistance is very useful, but most importantly it is pretty!
me when a character dies: BAHAHAHAHAH!
me when an R type unit dies: NOOOOOOOOOOO!
(rest in spaghetti, R4. Never forgetti)
So BB-8 was like the cousin everyone liked to hang out with.
R2 Unit: Hey, how ya doing?
R5 Unit: Everything sucks.
+Boisegang yup
The fourth droid from the left in that pic has a bad motivator. That's always been my problem, too. Laying in bed reading UA-cam comments all day...
0:37 I like the white, silver and maroon astromech R-series droid next to the grey and yellow one.
the Q9's ,Ssi-ruuvi and t series droids were all in play for thousands of years .
Wedge Antilles liked his R5 astromech droid because it's head was big enough to block laser fire heading for the cockpit...man, expendable much? OwO
this info is insanely in-depth, how do you get all this info?
+antongamerHD ok R2d2 but remember Disney might sue you and or claim ownership on your person
:(
The R6 IS actually now canon. It was added to canon in The Force Awakens, alng with the R0 and BB models. R7-R9 are still legends.
My R5 is in the shop AGAIN! But I got a R8 as a loaner
Fun fact (I know this was made in 2017), 2019 Episode 9 made the R6 canon since Snap Wexley used it s his astromech.
I love R units I'm not a big BB fan.I loved going to Star Tours at Hollywood Studious and make my own R6 units which are my favorate
Did thrawn get taught the high precision jump by vader?
Protocol Droids here we come .
Every time I go into a store with auto doors I always say to myself "Enjoy your trip through this door"
3:18 to 3:26 making the rebels sound like the bad guys there.
R2D2. The real hero of starwars!
R6 units are canon as seen in TFA and also don't forget about the R0 units like the one Poe used. The black with orange marking R0-H2 and Jessika Pava's R0-4LO.
I always liked the look of the R5 and R6
RIP T3-M4 you shall be missed.
R2 D2 is overpowered
my star wars persona pilots a Naboo N1 starfighter and has a modified R4 in the Droid socket
Didn't mace windu have a r8 unit in the clone wars show? So that makes the r8 unit canon. 👌
