Always live in hope that Clifton might do a small musical visit to England to see the man in the flesh.Very unlikely I suspect but would be good to shake his hand.Great rendition.
Love this ol' tune. Pretty risque for its time. I've known a Sally Ann or two in my 50 yrs. He must have been pretty impressed by her to write the song! 😊
Mighty fine! I’ve heard the clawhammer style and the three-finger bluegrass style of banjo playing, of course, but never the thumb and forefinger finger style you played in this video. Thanks for introducing me to it.
Brother, you just my 2 year old daughter and I toe tappin and hand clappin. I couldn't help but let out a "woooooooo!" This is the sound of the hills and hollers I live in.
@CliftonHicksbanjo I hear ya. Haven't picked up my banjo in months. This week in my kids school his classmates were learning all sorts of sounds and starting to work with instruments and the sounds they make and the teachers sent home a letter asking if any of the parents played any instruments and I was well. Shit I guess I'll have to pull out the ol Buckbee and resting and shake off the rust and brush the dust from me and that old thing. Needless to say while setting it back up I was going through a lot of your catalog trying to get my bearings back til about 11 pm. The kids all enjoyed it and a few other faculty members heard it and came in to watch and was able to pass the banjo and let each member of my kids class have a chance to play it while also learning alittle about banjo heritage with how old that specific banjo was where banjo came from and why it's such a special and personal instrument. Played a few tunes for the kids like cluck old hen, old Joe Clark, don't get trouble in your mind and another I wrote. Just a little taste of what you get to sharing your knowledge with people all over the world even though mine was to a class of 4-5 year Olds it was still pretty magic and after that somehow I've managed to gain even more respect for you and what you do and just like to say thank you again for still educating folks about the banjos importance and place in the world.
Such Grand Memories of playing music with a mess of friends in the Pequea Inn along the Susquehanna River in the 1970s. Many songs that you play Clifton! Kind Thanks! Peace, Abundance and Joy! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
I have a feeling I'm going to be falling asleep to and waking up to this voice every morning and evening for at least a year. I can't get tired of this. I think I'd do a murder to be able to see him play live, good thing that's not in the cards 😂😂😂
Hey Clifton been a minute ! Checking out some ive missed off till mrrw loggin pulled some muscles no better way to rest n recover hot coffee an hot strings this am !
Thank you. Xou mentioned Boone. I haved something to tell you that i believe you will enjoy hearing. I will hit xou back up snd zell you about this little old man in one room block house. Love you're legacy, Clifton. What style of playing is that, looks like two-finger, clawhammer, and frailing all at once. How are you so precise with that style?
Please pray for our beautiful Palestinian and Lebanese brothers and sisters. America has always had a rich history connected to those places wether it be the Bible or naming towns Palestine, Carthage or even a section of Appalachian Lebanon . Only has it been since the 50s that discrimination and real “anti semitism” against middle eastern people and the hatred upon western white folks has started due to the zios
That UP STROKE is savage! Sharp as an arrow steady as a train. What you are looking for, Clifton has already found.
Unreal man
In 100 years, archivists are going to convert "The Clifton Hicks Videos" to 3D holograms for future generations to research and enjoy.
God willing!
Hopefully I'm there to see it!
Always a pleasure Clifton
Gets the foot tapping! I like Tommy Jarrel's version aswell, fascinating to see how different these versions are, just shows it's a living tradition.
Such talent. I am stunned Cliff. Wonderful.
I keep wondering, one f or two. I seem to get it wrong.
01:05 Really channelling old Stringbean there! :)

I've always called that style up-stroke or up-picking. Learn it here: ua-cam.com/video/y6p10I_8n3s/v-deo.htmlsi=ZO686U4g-u4Ld4pJ
Terrific corn!
😊👍 Nice.
Toe-Tapping Good!
Goddam son, where’re you hidin the rest of the band?
Hi Clifton, I love your stuff, quick question are the cords on a banjer the same as a guitar?
Depends on tuning. For standard tuning the four bottom strings are dgbd on a banjo and dgbe on guitar, so there are some similarities.
Do you prefer the LaBella True 17 or Aquila Nylgut 1892?
They're pretty similar. I think the best option is ordering individual strings directly from LaBella.com
@@CliftonHicksbanjo Thanks for da info, keep up the good work love all the videos you do.
😊
Giddy up
Great rendition but hard to best your Weymann version.
What kind of corn is that? Indian?
