Mujinga Kambundji upsets Felix, Thomas in 200m at Prefontaine Classic | NBC Sports
/ nbcsports - Спорт
Allyson Felix is one of those athletes you can respect even if you're rooting for another country. So many of the Jamaican sprinters, Usain Bolt included, have a great deal of respect for her. She's the example of what the great American sprinter is
Definitely
She is a sweetheart. Very respectful
Yes here inJamaica, nothing but respect for her.
yep, certainly one of my favourites. She's always seemed to have some fundamental maturity and depth of character to her.
Jamaican parents. Well mannered.
They did that. Allyson running just to run at this point in her career. Love it.
She completed her campaign. She’s just doing side missions for the heck of it now 🤣. One of the greats easily!
@@ErnestNebedum right no seriously lol.
@@ErnestNebedum doing it for the cheque 😌
Yep, one of the all time greats.
She lost it is what it is
Felix has one of the best smiles on the planet. And congratulations to the winners.
She is a 100% class act as well. Congrats to Kambundji on a great race.
Both finished last in the race, but Felix showed much more class than Sha’Carri Richardson
@@qidongxu7339 she showed class period. Shakari showed none. Smh
She truly does 😍
She’s gorgeous!!
Props to Kambundji for beating a quality field only 1 hour after running in the 100m.
TRUE! Not an easy feat. 👏
She, her sisters an Ajla Del Ponte should get to rank up a lot of medals in the near future.
She was inspired by Elaine.
@@garagesale8003 Her sister Ditaji has just had a heart breaking crash in the U20 W 100m hurdles finals in Nairobi where was expected to contend for gold.
What was the time?
Allyson Felix had a great career and was part of history so big ups to her.
Most definitely. Love Felix and her great smile i always root for her, Gabby, or Jenna if there aren't any Jamaicans on the field ❤️
None of these other women will be running at 35 years of age. And none of them will have a near tragedy with a preeclampsia pregnancy. Felix is in history books for track excellence. Period.
Some of them might be, you can’t limit anybody. Shelley Ann is running at 34. Ta Lou is the same age.
@@yvonneplant9434 you can’t just generalize all of these women and say they won’t have a track career by the age of 35. You never know.
@@Zyairewest
They can have a track career past 40. Like Merlene Ottey did. But your ability to seriously threaten for GOLD. Deminishes alot after 33.
I love Kambundji's energy. Win or lose she always gives her best and has a wonderful smile and camradarie with the other runners at the end. She always looks happy to be in the moment.
Your right im happy for her win❤️
Shes a bright soul
Finally Mujinga medals. She was in every heat in the Olympics in the 100 and 200. She was also in the 4x100. That's the "never give up" spirit that everyone should aim for. Congrats.
She has medaled on the International circuit this a Diamond league event not considered as a. Championship medal race, but that was awesome of her I loved it especially after placing in the 100m and came back and beat a decent field! Nice job.
Yah...GOOD 👍
she is running natural as in no steroids. you can tell looking at her body. A natural winner will NEVER dominate track and field. She works hard and shes pretty
@@RamboTheCEO You aren't making sense. What do you mean by a natural sprinter can't dominate Track and Field? Once you train hard and discipline yourself then you have a shot at it
@@RamboTheCEO Sounds like garbage. No logic. Some runners are simply more gifted than others. Period.
"Upsets Felix" Felix wasn't there to win. She was there to say "Thank you"
@Abhishek Bais Lane filler !!
Yep. But she still likes to compete and show the young'uns what she is still able to do. She's a treasure!
@@dereckdean578 You spelled ‘class act’ wrong. She was gracious enough to step in after that pompous clown that got smoked in the 100ms dropped out of the race .
@@knowledgeheist9600 its NBC hype that made Allyson and that same hype is destroying Sha'carri
@@dereckdean578 Poor comparison. One is hype and one is substance. The latter having an exceptional career where she is one of the most accomplished and decorated athletes ever, male or female, starting with her Olympic silver medal at age 18. Sha’Carri is responsible for the things she says or does, not sure why we are allergic to holding people accountable for their actions.
I’m so happy for Kambundji’s win. She’s always getting 4th or 5th in these big events. Good for her 👍🏽🙏🏾👍🏽🙏🏾
Lmao. Its kambundji not kambushi 😂😂
@@funtube6439 oops. Lol
I was saying exact same thing, she can never get a win
Yep happy for Kambundji finally getting gold against a field like this.
Kambundji is fast and beautiful!!!💯💯💯
She doesn't have to run anymore, she is already a LEGEND. Well, through sheer love for the sport may be.
As I Jamaican I can tell you, we love Felix ❤ badd
So happy for Kambundji. She's always in finals and works hard.
Yes Kambundji!! It was a long long time coming! Even in her victory, she remained sooo humble. She earned that win. Congrats!
I don't even care about the race, I just really admire Allyson Felix.🙂
Right. Her fine self!!
@@lilvictor245 and her mom😂
I always enjoy watching Allyson Felix run.
Kambundji has been knocking on the door for a long time. The door finally opened.
That's some deep quote i'm gonna steal
Sooooo happy for Kambundji. You don't understand how many times I've seen her announced in races just to have to tip her hat to someone else - to include a time where she dropped the baton at the gun of a 4x100 much to the dismay of her other 3 teammates wondering what happened. She finally crosses the finish line first. Now, we just need to get Ta Lou one more victory before she retires.
Love Ta Lou always a bridesmaid 👏🏾👏🏾
Was hoping to see the gorgeous Sara Atcho, but she's not in this class of these athletes... anyway, the lovely young Thomas will do just fine!
Agreed.
@@dsweet2000 Yes, Ta Lou needs a big win, too.
Ta lou needs a new coach
Thank you Allyson Felix for all what you done for American Track and field. Also congrats Kambundji for getting the win.
AF has nothing to prove anymore, I am so proud of her! She has perform so Great as a Olympian over the years. Thank you for the achievements you have shown the world…🙏🏾👋🏾🙏🏾👋🏾🏃🏾♀️🏃🏿♀️
Facts
What a weird title. NBC should be ashamed. Everyone knows Allyson Felix has absolutely nothing left to prove as the most decorated Olympian ever. This race for her was for fun.
Uhm. The use of "upsets" in the title doesn't mean NBC is claiming Felix was emotionally disturbed.
Thomas and Felix were favourit, what is shameful saying they were upset. No one expected Mujinga Kambundji to win, thats an "upset" won't you say? They also race for prize money!
@Bali Singh at this point she is only a lane filler who NBC continues to overhype . Their commentators need to give it a rest and she needs to hang up those sprints.
@@RickMentore Felix was a "crowd" favorite. She was not expected to pose a serious challenge
@@ClockCutter Lol @Gabriel Yulaw knows that. They mean it wasn't an upset because Allyson wasn't looking for a win she's just racing for fun.
I’m just glad anytime I can see Alyson run knowing it’s some of her last races
She’s looks amazing too!
Congrats to the lovely Mujinga Kambundji! A well deserved win.
Not really an upset. She's been there in both the 100m & 200m finals it seems always. It was her day.
Yeah she like Degrasse she been doing her thing for a while
@@HEAVYCHEVY409 right!
Glad to see her shine today!
Considering Thomas's recent performance, it is most definitely an upset, Thomas can run 21.6-7
True....wasn't an upset...look at her time.
I really like the humble and hard-working Kambundji. She just gets a little better every season - great that she and Del Ponte get to challenge each other so closely
Alja ran at a meet in Berne yesterday and won the 100m in 11.04. I think both Kambundji and del Ponte will be at the Diamond League meet in Lausanne next week.
Kambundji was flying all throughout the Olympics. Was darn near in contention for a medal in every event when I was watching. Congrats to her for winning this race 💪🏽
Always so happy to see Mujinga Kambunji take first. Such a well deserving person who just competes. Great job to all the athletes
I think it sucks that they didn’t interview Kambundji but regardless, props to her for winning!!!
Exactly! - when she was headed in the tunnel, that dude even waved her off - he should be ashamed!
American ignorance at its best.....what you expect
@@aj2kj615 they'd rather interview a last place loser cursing on camera

@bernard martin They said that about Mujinga Kambundji too.
I'm really happy for kambundji. A very attractive and persistent young woman. Lots of respect to her. I knew that she was gonna do something great at some point 🤗
Late bloomer at 30. Plus she has 2 other opportunities in her country this summer at Diamond League. Lausanne and Zurich.

I have the greatest respect for Felix. She has class!
She may have Class , but she was beating here . Give a classic Congratulations to whom that deserved , the Winner- KAMBUNDJI .
I've been seeing Kambunji run for a while now and it's good to finally see her win a race against an international field.
Felix is Jamaica darling we love her here very humble sweet person she is welcome anytime we just love her
Gabby is a class act ❤️ this is how you lose in grace and celebrate the accomplishments of your peers
I've been watching you for a long time champ! You've worked soooo hard to get here.🏆 congratulations Kambundji!!
Was not expecting that finishing order......congrats ladies.
Every time I've watched Felix run, when the camera zooms in on her, she has one of the most intense game faces in all of sports. You can tell she is centered and focused. Take a bow, a sprinter of elegance and grace!
LMAO! Dead last...just like Richardson.
@@christansdad Felix is humble. She had a great career and is one of the most decorated females in track and field. She wasn't out there trying to prove a point.
@@FreeformThoughts804 Felix is not humble at all. You are confusing "relatively quiet" and "humble". At the end of the day, she is a sore loser that performed at a mundane level in individual sprint events and only achieved fame due to American depth at 100m and 400m allowing her to accumulate relay medals. Shaunae Miller-Uibo has been much better than Felix in individual events and would probably have 70-80% of Felix's medal total at a much younger age if the Bahamas had depth at 100m and 400m to allow her to accumulate relay medals.
Freeform Thoughts so if not to place in the top three (3) why was she there.
The commentators sounded shock & disappointed on Kambungi’s win... she was ahead on the turn but never mentioned!
Its the time they ran. That was slow for them. All of them looked like they didn't wanna do that race to me. So after watching the 100 we get a 22s 200? pfft I turned my TV on to watch a 22 200 meters? really?
I agree with you.
I noticed that too.
Yes I totally agree with you.. U notice the female commentator only gets excited when the usa athletics are being introduced or win a race.🙄
It's because she wasn't expected to take the win. If you follow pro international track and field, you'd know that she's a very talented athlete, but so far in her career has not been dominant. Hats off to her for hanging in there, working, and improving, but she's not ever really considered a massive threat.
Sha’carri Richardson, that is how you respect and show humility to the sport and your fellow athletes. Thank-you for great years of running Allyson Felix.
Don’t do that. She’s as humble and as confident as she should be. It’s weird how people as well as other runners try to humble her. Focus on Felix
Sha'carri comes across as a child ... if she wins at the moment I don't even care. I hope she grows up a lot in coming years
@@TheWannabmodel she isnt humble at all! But she got humbled!

Kambunji congrats so happy for her always makes the final and she never quits simply awesome
So sad Allyson was last, but she was great in her prime and a joy to watch.

Im happy for Allyson Felix. Amazing and brilliant
Happy for Kambundji ❤️✨
My congratulations to all the eight women in this 200m race, especially kambouji who won the race.l dove my heart for Allyson Felix with her broad smiles. She had contributed enormously to world athletics championships and her memories will remain evergreen in our hearts. She won the highest number of medals in Olympics history and has been the most decorated and respected athlete in the track and field. Kudos to you Allyson. Please hand over the baton to Athin Mu and Gabby Thomas in the spirit of continuity.

She works hard. Happy for her.
Kambudji congrats she has been consistent like Talou.
Kambunbji was amazing and relentless in winning this race with the competitors she had to deal with. It's her time mow.
All these comments about Felix should not have ran…please please please! This is the Diamond League, which is the elite league for track & field which means with Felix status they pay her just to show up and had she placed in the top 3 then she would have got mega coins. As long as they are still cutting checks... Allyson run girl run!!!!!!!
Good job to all! Congrats to Kambindji!! Was hoping she’d do well! 👏
Felix, Gabby and Dina, what great talent in this race. Awesome job to all the ladies including the winner.
Congratulations Kambundji❤️
Kambundji was competing in the 100 finals 1 hour earlier. This makes this win even more impressive! More to come...

Mujinga Kambundji, Finally. Just like André de Grasse. Very happy for her, she ran a relaxed race. Ato Boldon is forgetting that Kambundji is a Olympian herself.
She may have upset Thomas but Felix has fallen off more in the 200 than the 400. Felix didn't quality for the Olympics in the 200. I don't think AF was really a favorite to win here. She's still the GOAT though.

Congrats to Kambundji. No one was expecting Felix to win or place high, so, therefore, no upset. I believe they asked her to run the 200 because they weren't doing a 400 and this could be her swan song to perform at the venue, as we don't know if Queen Felix is going to return to run next season.
