I have laid awake at night wondering the same thing. What chills me is that the free press will be squashed immediately if he takes power and the citizenry that supports Democracy will be cut off from unbiased information, so that it would be harder to connect with fellow Americans who want to uphold democracy.

David makes the argument I have been making for years. It isn't the people at the border that are the issue but that those people have to flee the horrible conditions they were in. I'd happily pay a $1 more for a cup of coffee if it made a difference. The greatest sin Americans have is that we don't want to feel inconvenienced but being slightly inconvenienced could actually make a world of difference for many people. President Biden made a historic apology recently to Native Americans but the apology for how our policies in Central and South America over decades done direct harm to their people is long overdue and that apology needs to be followed with actions to help our Southern neighbors.
