I like going shadow cannon turtle + DT on this map. DT have the upgrade that lets them aoe ground and disable structures, makes them chew threw ground structures and units rapidly.

Just for the defense at night don't forget that the shadow pylons can recall units to it's location =P better than waiting for them slow ass void rays to get back

I'd recommend you to use the dark pylon's recall ability in situations like this, when you have to pull back at night, less problems :) Anyways you have nice stategies, kepp up with this pace :)

You should soak up extra minerals with photon cannons instead of centurions. As far as I'm concerned, that's the entire purpose of the dark pylon range mastery. Cannon defenses can be set up much faster than void rays, and can be done simultaneously with stargate teching. I like to refer to Vorazun's turtle tactic as "shadow cannons." It's not as good as Karax turtles, mostly because her cannon range is inferior (detectors can spot cannons from just outside your range and settle there, safely protected, and large hybrids and banelings can cause a lot of damage) but, Vorazun can supplement this build with units to cover her weaknesses. Void rays on hold are particularly good at this due to versatile attacks and growing range, and make a great army composition for pushes as well because they can fly right over the top of the cannon walls.
Here's the key to the shadow cannon build: quick start your economy to the max (which means deploying dark pylons rather than building regular pylons as much as possible in the early game), and place your pylons strategically. A pylon right next to the nexus will cover your probes, enable mineral-line cannons, and power all your initial tech structures, and as soon as it comes off cooldown you can set up the second one for your defensive line. Use the minerals saved from these 2 pylons to start a forge and gateway at nearly the same time. As soon as the forge is done, designate a probe to be your defense builder, move it to the expected attack angle (which should already have an operational dark pylon), and start using your extra minerals to build up cannons there, without ceasing to tech. The key to building an effective shadow-cannon wall is to use two dark pylons (or a backup pylon if you have to hurry) so that attackers won't disable your entire wall at once, surround the dark pylons with buildings to keep melee attackers away completely, and then push cannons as far forward as possible to counter such long-range targets as siege tanks and tempests. You can deploy 3-4 units to snipe detectors if you'll be paying attention, but parking an army of void rays over the top will not only serve the same role but also cover the wall's weakness to hybrids.
The thing I love about this particular build is that it is the fastest effective start to Vorazun's forces and it gives you the necessary time to put out the real force--and then complements that force perfectly. Since Vorazun's most effective builds are extremely gas heavy, cannons can consume excess minerals without swelling supply counts and provide much needed stable defenses that can handle all but the worst aggression without many problems. This is particularly useful on defensive missions such as Temple, Evacuation, and this one.

Awesome Valtur! I really like this strategy you talked about here. I am going to try this out and see how it goes! One note, doesn't completely surrounding a dark pylon undo its cloaking properties? I thought I recalled having tested this before, I am not sure. Overall, sweet strategy though!

It does not. The only limitations I've found to dark pylon cloaking are the range, and the fact that the pylon itself does not get cloaked even if you stack dark pylons together. Well, that and the fact that every passing detector unit can ignore the cloak. But that being said, most detectors aren't also attackers and are pretty fragile. There are exceptions of course, but for the most part you can snipe detection with ease and then slaughter the rest because with a wall of cannons at the edge of the full range upgrade, only Thors and Siege Tanks and similar long-range units can even hit the pylons, and everything else gets stuck on the blocked path like little ants screaming that a leaf fell across the path #Antz

Great video on void rays is this build easy without having to rush in weak units like melee units

Why pylon when you have a free one on f1

I generally like to save the energy for times when I need it most. Forexam ple, when I need Shadow Guard or Black Hole. The Dark Pylon is very good though and it has its strengths.
