Hands down my favourite monitor I've reviewed too, but yeah it's expensive and not quite my cup of tea due to being an UW - still magnificently. Great review bud!
So I'm having a really hard time justifying an upgrade from my LG 32gk850g-b now discontinued. I only game in 1440p with my 3060ti and I'm worried that a jump to a panel like the LG will push the card too hard and ruin my FPS gaming experience. The LG VA panel have been rock solid, no dead pixles for the years that I have been using it so reluctant to change. The only major gripe though is the 8hr OSD pop up bug in the firmware/g-sync module. Would be delighted to see the back of this if I do decide to upgrade.
With the Alienware 34" QD-OLED selling for $1000, or less when it's on sale, and the Samsung G8 QD-OLED (with its amazing "True Black" 400 nits) going for $900, why would someone consider the Philips?
Honestly with this display maxing out at 250 nits at SDR is just smart especially considering what you are dealing with. I'd rather that then having the windows logo burned in after like 2 months.
I bought the Gsync Ultimate Alienware QD OLED one at Micro Center a few months ago for $780. It was open box, it said it had a scratch on the box but was just a smudge on the rear plastic I end up removing with some goo gone. This display is incredible.
Biggest negative is the pixel refresh which is broken and the software is so poor and badley needs an update from 1995 interface. I bought it and it's the most anoying monitor I have ever had :(
69👍 nice🤩! The monitor is beautiful and aesthetics amazing! I’m not sure why Philips called the Evnia lineup an e-girls monitor for 💩🤦♂🤦♀🙈? Many people like the white / white-silver look on their pc setups.
Great Video!!!! Nice to see another entry to what is my fav combination of specs. I think it is overpriced and also those vessels look horrible even more with white accent. Better option IMHO is the Dell Alienware AW3423DWF...
Good advice. I was dead set on a monitor this Black Friday, and it's going to be hard to put away the itch, but it would be stupid to jump in on QD-OLED right now, at the tail end of the first generation, when the second gen is about to hit.
@@gobbledygook5000 We’re just so close to the first one releasing. Alienware will be available in January, with Asus I’m not sure on the month but they said Q1. The wait should be worth it bc a Generation 2 QD OLED monitor might be that End Game monitor. I’m currently waiting just like you seeing all these amazing deals currently lol 😂
I've had this monitor for 4 months now and used for 1650hours according to the osd. It's 100% pure garbage. First it's a big clunky pile of plastics, instead of metal. it is 10x thicker than a full all in one iMac, which is embarrassing. The fan makes a ton of noise above 18c, almost like a Windows laptop lmao. The resolution is extremely poor. The colors are poor. The blacks are poor. The usb hub stopped working correctly after 500 hours and requires maintaince every now and then. And after 1600hours the monitor just goes on and off on it's own. Living it's own live. It doesn't matter how much money you spend on Windows pcs / hardware it is still the same old windows pc garbage from 1999. Now I compare it next to my Studio display. It is just awful. I game less and less and might as well sell all this ancient pc hardware. It is so awful compared to Apple. It really begs the question, why is ALL pc hardware so god damn awful. I've had 4 monitors in the past 12 months, all of extremely low quality doesn't matter what they cost or how these pc nerds praise them. They've clearly never seen a Studio Display or a Mac in general.
How can the blacks be poor? This is an OLED Monitor, black Pixels should be completely dark. Are you talking about the same Monitor or a very similar Philips Monitor with the VA-Panel?
@@waltergraf3977 i am talking the same monitor and yes black are about as good as the imac, poor for an oled, compared to my iPhone oled. Think. QD-oled is just bad for blacks. It's more grey than black. Juist typical awful pc hardware.
@@WybremGaming Thank you for the information. I've now done a bit more research. It is indeed the case that QD-OLEDs turn grayish in dark picture areas under bright room lighting and do not remain black. Normal OLED panels don't have this problem. Only very few reviews mention this.
What about the fan? Is it noisy? I saw an option to turn it off. Can the monitor work with the fan turned off? Is the fan audible in "silent" mode? The price 22.05.2024 is £648. And I wonder the reason for such a drastic price reduction. Thanks
5:50 This is a Severe False Representation of what it actually is. This is RGB mode and when its set to Video mode it basically is White glow with a very tiny bit of color and slow adjustments. I bought this thing because of the ambiglow and sad to say its very bad.
I do need some advice about watching 1080p videos on 1440p monitors that no one is talking about ! Tried some high-spec 1440p models but all of them were blurry, shockingly worse than 1080p native monitors while playing 1080p videos. Then I unfortunately learned that the scaler won't be able to precisely transpose the 1080p image onto the 1440p screen. Meaning, blur and other visual artifacts make the video look substantially worse than 1080p native monitors and it's not related with bitrate or compression etc. Mainly watching 1080p shows, movies (not streaming on youtube/Netflix etc) and have a huge archive... Tried 4K monitors/TVs with 1080p videos and they look just fine, equal to 1080p native ! 4K is exactly four times 1080p resolution; this means that for every pixel in 1080p, there are four pixels in 2160p, so you just make each pixel four times bigger. Looks exactly like a 1080p display. I want to upgrade to 2K for games, web & work but "to watch 1080p videos blurry with artifacts" is holding me back. 4K is hard to drive and it's expensive but definitely clearer than 1440p ! - Should I skip 1440p & invest in 4K monitors ? Can you do a video about the elephant in the room ?
I've been keeping an eye on this monitor too. was hoping it wasn't as expensive as id the irish tax ad on makes it a no go., i'll wait for it to come down in price i guess
I don't understand how, in 2023, we still have burn-in. How can a *MONITOR*, not a TV, have burn-in? It boggles my mind. what if I watch UA-cam everyday for a few days in a row, I guess I'm gonna have a row of tabs burned on the top of the screen forever? Also I guess if you use your monitor for any productive tasks you need to run away from this?

No DisplayPort 2.1
No HDMI 2.1

You don’t need to tell the world, no one cares.
Producer companies should care.
Otherwise (as a customer) I won't buy their "under par" monitors.

That's a simplistic take.
