Note to self: Don't use the built in pre-amps of the Blackmagic Pocket camera... I spend quitte a lot of time to get rid of the noise and hum...
😂
brusfri
They’re not that bad compared to others 😅😅😅
Yeah that's basically any camera's internal audio recording
Dont let Henning know xD rookie mistake haha ❤😂
The Lewitt sounded fuller.
agree
The older voiceover sound was better, but the new one is totally fine for listening and speech intelligence.
Speaking from being a location sound-mixer, your best bet in a room like this is probably a hypercardioid or super cardioid small diaphragm microphone, boomed above you right out of frame. Some good options would be the Sennheiser MKH50, Schoeps CMC641 or DPA 4018. I've also had good experiences with the Oktava Mk012 and AKG Bluelines.
Dude, its totally fine. Nice and clear, good presence. Audio quality is great as usual.
Add slight amount of noise reduction and you're fine. This mic has more natural sound. We can hear the room a tiny bit more, but the old mic had a few weird resonances too. This one sounds better to me. Also, if this is less painful to set up, it's a no brainer.
If you A/B the mics, you notice a difference, but otherwise no one would say a thing. Do what’s easier for you!
Interestingly, this applies to recording and mixing as well. I mean there’s objectively good and bad, but in cases of good or better, the end listener will never know without a comparison.
i noticed immediately 💀💀
@@ProdDJD And did it spoil your experience or did your ears adapt and accept immediately?
@@jamesjames77777 neither, i noticed throughout the whole thing but it didn't spoil my experience, it was just weird because i'm used to hearing his voice more directly instead of with so much room sound, like i'm used to hearing voice-over quality from him and this time it felt like just average for a voiceover setup (well really below average considering some minimum requirements would be to eliminate room sound, but doesn't necessarily decrease quality in this application)
As a dialogue editor for film and tv I prefer this mic. It does require a bit more processing for noise reduction (if you don’t like the natural room ambiance), but it sounds more natural.
It’s good! Instead of making another compressor they’re trying to find out something new! We definitely needs something new to burn up the fire in music art again!
I think this track is too busy for this plugin. Would like to hear it on one instrument.
Directional mic is a bit more harsh and sibilant on phone speakers.
I’d run that sucker through gullfoss then blend it into the original parallel + put something like a UAD studer on the vox buss.
Otherwise pick what’s best for your workflow.
I think this is more of a sound design than mixing plugin. It is supposed to be chaotic and random in a way that facilitates happy accidentss. For mixing, I would rather automate my delay and reverbs.
Hmm too much room in the mic compared to the other technique could it be? I wouldn't mind if I wasn't accustomed to your usual close-up sound though!
Finally a reaction thumbnail from a youtuber that I like
Seems more bother than its worth.
The new mic sounds a little boxy, tbh. But I can live with that.
This plugin work in 5.1 and Dolby atmos? Definitely seems like it’s almost meant for less practical uses but very creative for surround mixing.
The mic sounds a little hollow, maybe boost your low 200hz -500hz a bit feels I dunno 700hz -1.2khz, upper end feels flat. Feels like there is a bit too much reverb is it an omni mic? maybe it is picking up more reflections. None the less totally audible and just fine.. but things do sound a little cloudy but its probably because of an absence of the low end. Again this is my impression, it could be totally wrong was listening on latop which doesn't have good lowend anyway. I dunno on headphones its a little more body, but my mind I was list like reduce the release transients to give a little more focus. I am ready for bed.
The mic sounds allright but I did notice some noise at the end. I bet the plugin got hit by the crowdstrike update when it froze😁.
no one's going to get this in a week
So, I have preferred the sound of the Lewitt mic. But, I imagine you can make some adjustments with the new one to get it to sound about as good.
just wanted to say that you seem a really nice human and it's interesting to listen
"sounds like music in my home planet" died XD
Totally fine from the new sound, a little bit boxy but that's alright
I liked the bass in the Lewitt but I like the clean framing more I think. I suppose a lavalier is more hassle than both.
Something to note is that CPU usage is absolutely insane with this plugin. I tried it out on a project with 5 tracks, I had dimension loaded on 2 of the tracks and nothing else beyond EQ eight, utility and Youlean Loudness meter on each track and i was hitting 80% CPU. I A/B'd the project with motion and it was 100% the cause. Older PCs/Macs beware haha!
I think the new mic setup is not as good as the old one. Too much room sound. But whatever you do it's always good. Thanks!
Sounds are obviously different, but not in a better/worse sort of way. Personal preference for me is the Lewitt (I have a Ray and love it) - voice was MUCH fuller, richer, and clear. The new mic sounds obviously further away, with some room ambience in there, but is clear enough. If I had to vote, I'd say go back to the Lewitt.
Next video we're gonna find out it's just one of the mics he's used before in a different position, aren't we?
It has a weird added noise to it, like a touching type of sound, maybe it can be cleaned up
There are subtle differences in microphone. And for diving into it and sounding that nice , itself says all
I think the audio does sound different but certainly not worse, the space and time saving is worth it.
(btw the editing in this one is really well done, I casually laughed my arse off getting educated about new plugins)
New mic setup definitely doesn't sound as good. A lot more early reflections, probably from the monitor. Of course it works fine, it's easy to understand what you're saying, just a lot further from 'broadcast sound' that I'm used to hearing (running TV through monitors). I wonder if a better mic position could be found, listening on headphones...
As expected, new mic has more room but completely understandable. Works for me.
The new mic (Blackmagic Pocket?) is good enough; yes, the Lewitt sounds better and has less of the om/ambient sound. I would keep auditioning it and see if it holds up over several sessions.
Why not try a UA Audio Sphere LX? it's a great quality mic and it has mic modeling that you can retroactively add to find your ideal model with the best settings for your voice. And you'll also get a fantastic recording mic for tracking just about any source. Not just your particular voice.
9:37 Lexicon hardware is digital btw
Sounds fine. It's you that makes it work, not the mic.
Sounds fine - more extra sound from your hands/clothes but fine. Just back from gigging so my ears are grumpy so sensitive, needs less compression - level rider for speech rather than compression sounds more natural. But yeah - sounds fine!!
I think you have sounded better on different mics frankly. Not to say the current mic isn’t good it’s just a bit flat. You have a lot of inflection in your voice that is part of your charm. The current mic seems to flatten it.
I liked the closer mic better. Had less room on it and thus was easier to process for my brains.
Sounds pretty good for the most part! It's a little more "boomy" than your previous sound but nothing to complain about. Sounds good man! If it's easier for you that's what matters. 🙂
A bit more room sound with the new mic. Does the plugin have presets from which to start?
i can hear the room more through your mic and its sounds a little bit more boomy but its fine!
Can't go wrong with a Lewitt bro! Unless there is something wrong with it. lol Great video Wytse. Keep Pushing bro🤘
Oh no - cloudstrike got Wytse's brain!!!
Could you do a video on Phonolyth Cascade, it's another reverb plugin by an indie dev that sounds really good, plus it would get the dev some more exposure.
Oh, wow. That Darude track sounds like a jazzier redux of an old Paul Hardcastle track.
It sounds 'worse' but not bad and you're perfectly intelligible. Keep it easy
it sounds more natural instead of the earlier proximity effect (I don't like the Dutch FM3 DJ sound, it's to intimidating to my likings)
And about the pluggin don’t know it sounds like normal reverb with other type of controls but usual sounds at least for me
Your mic sounds good to me. I prefer a mic off cam as it gives the host's voice a more natural sound, as compared to those folks who are close mic'd (w mega compression) who seem to want to sound like FM Radio DJ's. I find that FULL overly bass heavy 'voice-over' style incredibly annoying.
I hear more of your room and of the noises your body/hands/mouse/whatever makes, but in a good way. I prefer this sound because it sounds more natural, more like I am there in the room with you.
To me the new microphone sounds a but dull (?), muddy, tubby. The previous was more bright.
I get what the plugin is trying to do. IMO it would be better off with less controls. I would trial it but i am on reaper. I dont need crashes.
Can't you just add a sinewave to an automation channel and use it on any plugin you already have?
The mic gets the job done.
This new mic makes it easier to understand what you are saying.
Me remembering the very first video I saw from Wytse "this definitely isn't sandstorm, I should message him and tell him, can't believe that slipped by him in editing, crazy"
Reminds a bit of Portal. And your new mic works just fine.
Comment for da algorithm
Streak count: 251
The audio sounds good imo. as long there are no loud background noises, theres no problem.
It seems a little bit gimmicky.. like a lot of 3d sound modelling it will probably make your mix sound less defined and more confusing in 90% of applications
I prefer the lewitts. This sounds lofi
probably BabyAudio's Spaced Out is much more practical, though less flexible - but do you really need so much flexibility in movement?
Sounds amazing. RIP CPU. Unusable. New Fangled's new delay is the same.
On my Samsung 21 they sound EXACTLY the same. 😎
I trialled it. Uninstalled after i turned a snare into alien chipmunks. Preferred your old setup.
Don’t need our approval. If it sounds good to you and works for you, that works for me =]
just a little bit more noise.... but if you wouldn't tell us, nobody would notice it :D (watched on my phone)
Love your videos, love them love them …. But idk if I can hear Sandstorm one more time 🥴
I'm still getting mic bleed it sounds like "Sandstorm" by Da Rood
The Lewitt was so much better than this setup. This is quite roomy and the compression worked so much smoother with the Lewitt!
Thanks for making me laugh. Not at you, but the absurd claims of plugin devs, and their enigmatic interfaces. I guess morphing controls are all the rage, but I never thought what I really wanted was to be able to morph between reverb types or spaces all the time, unless you want to simulate vertigo and car sickness. Lol, at least you have a sense of humour about it. (totally agree btw about complex reverb plugins, they are a nightmare)
Your microphone sounds great, although I am deaf so what do I know!
The new mic is fine. We’re not watching your videos to enjoy your vocal skills! 😂
New Mic has less low end but clarity is fine. just losing your voice a little when talkng over music. 🎉😊
It is so complicated that I don't want to deal with it...I don't want to spend a whole day just tweaking a reverb on my mix...Sorry...
😂😂😂 everyone in the plugin business nowadays
Mic sounds fine. If it makes it easier for you why not?
It sounds fine to me. MKH 416?
Mic: you can roll off some air.
Too much room now.
can't be bothered trying plugins that crash
im hearing more “desk” than usual on this one
New mic is picking up room resonance and is boomy at about 150Hz. It is also coarse at the top end and overall sounds weak.
Sounds fine
How is this better than Valhalla supermassive, which is free?
I think you concern yourself too much, you are more consistent then you might think.
This setup is more volume-sensitive maybe? I dunno...
BTW, Airwindows has done some deep sh-- with his plugins, especially the reverbs from this year.
Super efficient code, as far as I could understand.
Might wanna check that, I would like to hear your opinion in sound using those.
I only come here for the facial expressions
If you were good at pac man you would get this UI right away
Aside from a butthole taking up half the interface, this seems a bit convoluted. Reverb is a creative effect that I don't mind spending a little more time on but I'm not sure this trumps anything I already have.
You are too kind! All software have bugs, but if it's this easy to make it "hang", then it's a No Go. I give it a five thumbs down. 👎 👎 👎 👎 👎
....not that complicated. Manual/Tutorial
i love you man
youre one of the biggest reasons i started making music i hope you release something again one day 💜💜
So it´s a Freezevervb......😄
I hear more room in this mic
hahahahaha 😂
Sounds boxy with the new mic.
pass but thank you
Hearing a lot of room noise. Your other setup seemed to be better.
