Kevin, my hats off to you, while RVing your still posting videos, that's great, I travel with a friend as well, its great to have an extra set off hands, plus the money you saved by doing it your self. Great job as usual, hope you guys have no more troubles.
Robert Hyde thank you for the kind words. Yes traveling with a buddy is great. We met about 5 years ago at fort wilderness and have traveled together every year sense. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. ..
Just purchased a 06 Winnie with the c7. When doing all maint for a starting point I have coolant on the bottom of the cross member below the balancer. After watching your video I don't think coolant leaking from the WP would get there. The winnie coach is not conducive to finding this or examining the pump. There is zero access.
I appreciate this video so much! My 05 Phaeton has a Cat C7 in it and the belt is starting to squeak every now and then. I am not sure if it is the water pump belt or the serpentine belt. Thanks again as it gives me some confidence to know what to look for. Safe travels.
Joe Crawford thanks for watching how many miles is on yours. . Give me a call or text I got some more info about this model that may help you. 606-875-0125 kevin..
Great video, thank you for sharing it. I have the same problem here in the UK on my Winnebago, could you let me know what the torque settings are for the pump etc please?
Sorry I did not have any torque setting to go by at the time .. only the torque I had to go by was in my elbow.. lol But its still working fine years later ..
Kevin Caudill , how do you like your c7. I bought a 2003 school bus with 2126 with under 84 thousand miles, cruise control, air conditioning, new tires, no rust and a automatic transmission with overdrive for 3500 dollars and my wife and I are making a rv out of it.
@@ktoutdoor your video really helped me inspire me to tackle my myself on my 2004 c7 RV. I got a couple of quotes that blew my mind. Freightliner wanted 10 hours labor for that job. I just got my water pump today and all my parts and will tackle it with a friend at Quartzsite next!
@@ktoutdoor I can't thank you enough for the inspiration,....we did it! It was tight but I got the pump, 2 tensioner pulleys, both belts, upper coolant hose, compressor coolant pipe, expansion tank and new coolant all done for about $800 in parts! (I went with the CAT remanufactured). I did it over a few afternoons while boondocking near Quartzsite, Az. You video was a huge help and I thank you!
I'd love to show you some pictures is you'd like to be reminded of the scene of your own breakdown haha. I had noticed some play in the water pump pulley but it was still working. I pulled the pump off here in the campground and wouldn't you know.... The pulley is completely seized up. No joke it drove in here with no issues and the belt was still turning.... Once I parked it and it cooled down it seized up and it was game over. I didn't even realize it until I pulled it out. Got lucky there!
@@markp6982 My friend has sense sold it and yes I find a diesel pusher cost way more money to maintain then or gas 8.1 Vortec gas and with a gas you can most likely fix it your self.
@@ktoutdoor wore out spring tensioner will result in every component failure as the belt slaps against every pulley. Maybe I can share a good video. As an off road truck driver thisbis a common point of concern even causing the motor to over heat potentially costing $20-30,000+ to replace a motor for a $60 dollar tensioner.

The tight working space is exactly why the dealerships charge a lot more for working on them as opposed to working on big trucks.

How about a list of part numbers? Thermostats, belts, water pump, bearings? Thank you
Sorry I don't have those I was helping a friend on this project and he was in charge of ordering the parts.
How did that aftermarket water pump hold up? Just pulled my water pump and thinking about the aftermarket pump
Mark Maue yes it is still working just fine.

Still working just fine , sorry for the delay , this is not my RV it belongs to a friend of mine that we travel with.
How many miles you had on it when it failed
Around 90,0000
Hope you replaced the 2 o rings on back of wa wa pump or she be leaking sometimes they don't come with new pump.
Yes we did, that was a few years ago and its still working / no leaks.
Great video! Did you have any problems with vaporlock when refilling the coolant?
No problems at all just recheck it a few times after warm and cold cycle

@@Thedreadedstone Let me know how your repair goes and think of all that money your saving. Check those idler pulley bearings see that they are quiet.

How much easier would this job have been, with a side mounted radiator?
Very....lol but we got it done anyway.
@@ktoutdoor okay thanks. My wife and I are going to purchase a diesel pusher after the holidays. I try and do all my own work if possible.
@@patrickpatrick9132 FYI Diesels can be expensive to maintain compered to gas.. I have a gas my buddy has a diesel I have seen the difference.
Would it have been easier to remove the rad first?
Maybe if we was at a repair shop but we made due with limited tools in the campground.
@@ktoutdoor Great work and vid. Has this pusher been expensive for repairs vs a gas equivalent in your experience?

Spring is usually wore out, should be hard to twist using a long bar.
Thanks for contributing
