Love this! I’ve never thought about giving them clothes/ items or narrating a story for them. My favorite method of making poppets is by growing corn in my garden and spending the summer months tending to the plant and adding intention. Then in the fall, I hardest and use the leaves to make corn husk dolls that I tie using dollar store twine. Very earthy and great for manifestation/ finances.
Poppet magic has, over the past year or so, become the magic I find to be the most useful, powerful and transformative for me so I loved all the of the tips and ideas in this video Kelly Ann! In terms of paper poppets, I just wished to add that I often like to use something representative of the aims of my working: to support my daughter through her final exams, I fashioned a simple poppet by tearing a page of her revision notes into a paper doll shape; to bring her joy and protection while travelling I cut a paper doll from a map of Europe including some of her destinations 💕💕💕
I LOVE all your ideas here! I made a doll of myself about a year ago, and she is the skinny version of me. She has worked with me and traveled to a concert out of state. She lives on my bed, but I think she needs her own cozy house and some new clothes. Such limitless possibilities I never considered until this video. Thank you!! 💜
I love this idea as someone who crochets. I’ve recently been making a stuffie for my little sister and enchanting it as I create it to protect her and bring her comfort and inspire her to have awesome dreams. I’ve also been gifted a poppet that was made by my very best friend which i have used to give me comfort and help transfer negative energy out of me. I’ve also been wanting to get my little pony dolls as I’ve recently reconnected with that show as part of my magical practice. Gonna definitely start making poppets in my practice more intentionally and frequently!
This made me realize that I already do poppet magic. With a doll that I've had since I was a baby. I got her a new onesie recently and she has a stuffed unicorn and a snail that keep her company.
I haven’t done poppets for ages - this has inspired me to maybe bring that in. I used to make dolls for people close to me, and I’d stuff with flowers and herbs. This kind of play is what my inner child is demanding hahahah
This is really interesting. I did the same thing with stuffed toys. Looking back now I see how healing it was. Interestingly enough there is a trend of knitted animal toys called Little Cotton Rabbits, and there are a lot of people that make them to represent loved ones (or pets) that have died, and they make them clothes and give them love. It’s been very healing for them. I’ve thought of making one for myself to represent me for self healing, and one for our dog who died suddenly a handful of months ago. Thank you for these brilliant ideas.
I adore poppets. I allowed a blessed thistle to grow (actually 7 of them), raised painted lady butterflies (ok, actually they crawled onto my mullein plant and she protected them), but! I have been saving the downy thistle seed heads as they age and I plan to stuff poppets with that. Honestly I feel thistle is my deity’s favored plant and this is just soooo perfect to have on hand!
I’ve been looking forward to this video, been having an incredibly hard time with being newly diagnosed with bpd so there will be comfort here in the content and in hearing your voice
Ok stop! That bread poppet idea is so creative! I would also use the wrapping in baneful workings as well like making the person stuck/ "wrapped" in a situation, "wrapped" in a negative mindset/ financial situation/ emotional like fear; doubt; anxiety; feel closterphobic etc. I think it's cool The Occultist uploaded a video about Poppets a few days ago and then you upload about poppets today.
I love this thank you for the inspiration! When I was about 10 yrs old I used to make dolls out of tissue lol and give them faces w sharpies. I used to make friends out of them or even make them for my family and felt comfort when I spent time with them.
I love this. I’ve never worked with a poppet before but I have been thinking about it for some self healing work. Thank you, the video was helpful and has given me a lot of ideas now. 🙏🏼❤️
This is fantastic. I love dolls. I mever played with them in the traditional way, but rather I would spend my time dressing them up. In my early 20s I used to repaint and refashion them before becoming a witch and even then I found the process so sacred and cathartic. I should try incorporating some of these into my practice!!
Hello, Kelly-Ann, I hope that you are doing well. I have been excited for this video ever since you announced it. I don't work with poppets but I am open to the possibility and interested in learning from you.
Thanks for a lovely video. I like using poppets and especially liked the idea of making paper poppets. In the summer when we get fresh corn I like to save some of the husks and silk to make poppets too.
Loved this video - so creative and inspiring. Made a poppet having been inspired by one of your past videos but was never too sure how to use it - so many great ideas here. Thank you!!
This was a wonderful video! Thank you for all the tips and ideas for using poppets. I have used them in spellwork to help others but I haven't made any for myself. I'll have to try this. 💗😘
Hallo!!! Azura dragon faether taught me how to crack open a stuffed animal and stitch things inside of her or him. I like your house idea. Invitation >>>>>>>> I put silent spells in my video section for other people to cast their own, along with them. I especially recommend the dream incubation spell!! Just make up your own words or use sound Magick!! Safe.
Never used a poppet before and absolutely love the idea. When harming/destroying the poppet, could the poppet represent an specific aspect of yourself (ie habits or limiting beliefs) that you want to banish/destroy?
What would you think about using a poppet for servitor magic? When you started talking about giving the poppet a home I thought of my first foray into servitor work where I gave it a jar, but I have to say I did forget to work with it each day, it kind of didn't feel real to me. I'm wondering if it would work better for me making a more physical representation, at least to set my intention on and remind me to work with the servitor's energy regularly. The play-like examples you gave are also really interesting because I'm so not playful, that maybe it will help me let go some more. My kids both have big dollhouses and can play for hours with them, I'm in awe and sometimes wonder where that part of me went.
I think many people would probably be helped by making a physical representation of a sevitor, definitely. You could instruct the servitor to inhabit the object before giving it specific orders or allowing it to direct its helpful energies where they need to go. You could also 'pause' it there in case you need it again later before 'dismissing it'. Dolls houses are literally one of the most magickal items I can possibly think of. When I move into a bigger place in the future, I am going to spend a stupid amount of money on my dream dolls house. x

@@ThestarryeyedHermit thank you sooo very much! I’m super excited to create poppets now. I read somewhere that using thistle in them is old magick.
I have learned so much from you. thank you for sharing with us. Sending you love and happiness
I love the idea of poppet you can eat.. I would use dipping olive oils and herbs to work with a poppet made with bread.
