Thanks Mark for all the updates. I think these long term testimonials are most helpful. Super nice to know what's still functional after the new car smell outgasses 😂😂
Good way to put it. Thanks
Mark,
Have followed your advice and recommendations on the Vevor drill sharpener and the CBN grinding wheel....you were spot on and both are outstanding in terms of quality, price and performance......looking forward to even more of your unbiased opinions on items.
Don
Thanks Don.
Looks like you had a good Christmas Mark! And good of you to revisit your reviews, thank you. I always enjoy atria to your workshop. Les in UK 🇬🇧
It was great, thanks
I have an even nastier Chinese table I bought for my homemade mill and it suffered the same issue with the thrust bearings, so I just ground some relief in the base with a die grinder to allow it to move in that last inch or so. 👍
Good idea.
Good video Mark, I appreciate honest reviews that lower the risk of buying on line. I love the Vevor drill sharpener, it's nearly industrial quality and if the price drops more I may get one. Happy new year!
Thanks and yeah, its a nice drill sharpener. It was over 300 and now $255. Maybe it will drop some more,
Mark, For your sheer, if you remove excess material and leave only about 1/8" of material to the line you will find it easier to control the cut. Straight and outside radios cuts only with that machine.
Good review. Jere
Thanks, that makes sense !
great idea! :)
would love to see more people do this
Thanks
Good review, review Mark. I have the Loadmaster castors under my surface grinder and love them. Like you, I find the adjustment knob to be a son of a gun to adjust, when there is substantial weight on them. Haven't done it yet, but I intend to make a hook spanner to fit those "teeth" in the adjustment ring in hopes of making adjustment easier. I don't think there's room to get much of a swing, but it will surely be easier than driving them with a punch & hammer. Have a great 2024!
Yeah not much room. Thanks!
Hi Mark, Nicely done follow up on the product reviews.. I'm adding the drill sharpener to the want list. My old eyes just don't work trying to hand sharpen the smaller bits.
Happy New Year !!
My eyes were never good enough. Ha. Thanks
Good revew,Mark and happy new year.I have some of these products in your review and I need to go through your links to see the revews you did on them.I would like to mention now that I just bought a Optimun drill sharpener GH 10T still in the box that has sharpening and web thinning capabilities but not split point I believe.Excellent info.Thank you.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. This sharpener you bought it high priced, at least on the websites I saw it on. It looks a lot like the Vevor. I think the vevor is now $255. I wonder if you could return it... although maybe you got a good price.
@@WinkysWorkshop Great machine,Mark,expensive though.My mistake.
On the drill sharpener, the smaller collets are not standard, they are made to hold at the opposite end of a normal collet. Hand tightening that amount of material would be difficult in the hand chuck so they hollow out the back end.
You are right... the opposite end! I overlooked that.
Absolutely brilliant video
Glad you think so! Thanks!
Thank you for the reviews
My pleasure!
Thanks very much and Happy New Year.
Same to you, thanks!
Happy new year !
Same to you! Thanks
I have seen all the videos on these products that you made they look very useful
Glad you like them! Thanks
Muchas gracias es el que yo había mirado
Aunque tenía alguna duda
Muchas gracias amigo .y un video muy entretenido repasando cositas
Thanks!
Awesome video, Thank You. Knowing how hard and brittle carbide is and cannot take vibration, I am wondering about thinning the web to a split point on the carbide spotting drill if it will hold or break off.
I didn't think about that however I had another carbide spotting drill that was split. I sacrificed the drill when I drilled out a broken tap. Thanks
Very interesting thanks mate. I think the ToAuto DRO may be a Sino? I have a Vevor which is exactly the same and marked SNS-3V. Very good quality so far.
Could be right. Thanks for watching!
I have a couple of Vevor items, I'd buy more, as they seem to be really good value for money, but most stuff you might want for a workshop seems to be permanantly out of stock in the UK. Certainly I'd get the drill sharpener, but it's listed as discontinued.
The sharpener is currently $255 here. This is much cheaper than it was. Odd that its discontinued. It was out of stock here for several months. Here's one that might be available to you. www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805947469516.html?src=google&src=google&albch=shopping&acnt=708-803-3821&slnk=&plac=&mtctp=&albbt=Google_7_shopping&albagn=888888&isSmbAutoCall=false&needSmbHouyi=false&albcp=19623912707&albag=&trgt=&crea=en3256805947469516&netw=x&device=c&albpg=&albpd=en3256805947469516&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAkeSsBhDUARIsAK3tieev0dVERrKb2o-2xIwlqsB_-8a5U7JWfFEuQyUearoUcOHz_gBTeaYaAtlIEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&aff_fcid=79622ca93e1d4b8a83633c683d9fa8ae-1704558121920-03456-UneMJZVf&aff_fsk=UneMJZVf&aff_platform=aaf&sk=UneMJZVf&aff_trace_key=79622ca93e1d4b8a83633c683d9fa8ae-1704558121920-03456-UneMJZVf&terminal_id=a5727bcbf58c492ea22021e594349cd0&afSmartRedirect=y&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa
Mark, I have the milling table, castors and the drill sharpener from Vevor. All great products. I also watch your friend Mr Pete's channel and I couldn't help but notice that on the drill sharpener he says to turn the adjusting knob completely clockwise and then counterclockwise to the number corresponding to the collet you are using, and then add another complete 360 degree turn. I wonder if this is to correct the rolling over you mention?
Looking forward to more great videos....thanks
Yes, I saw his video and yes it was to make a more aggressive cutting edge (more relief). The same effect although I wonder if a full turn is too much.
I'm thinking that I could experiment to find the optimum amount, remove the knob/spring assembly and then put a washer or shim of that dimension under it. The dial graduations might then be accurate.
Did I see what could be flammable bottles on what looked like a hot water heater? Maybe it was not.
Yep you absolutely did. It's electric and I'm not worried in the slightest. if it was gas maybe a little. Flammable oil but you'd have hard time getting it to catch fire.
Possible fix for castor adjustment problem. Drill 1/8 or 1/4 inch holes in perimeter of adj wheel and insert the appropriate drill shank in hole and use as lever t turn adjustment wheel.
That is a great idea. Its like a plastic star wheel. I don't think there is enough material to drill BUT, this might be an easy upgrade. Just make a steel thumb wheel. Thanks... you might see this idea in a future video :o)
I have the toauto also. exact same. On my lathe. all scales are acurate after a year in service. y is on the tail stock. tailstock DRO is a game changer.
will install VFD/3phase 3 hp on spindle before spring. I am leaning towards westinghouse l510 like I have on the mill but now I will look into the vevor.
Does it make any noise? like at all?
The VFD was actually bought on Amazon and it's $126 right now. Vevor has some VFDs but none that go from 110v to 220v. If I remember right mine is rated for 2hp. It has a fan that makes some noise but not much. 3HP is a large mill, mine came with a 1/2HP and I replaced it with a 1 HP. I'll be installing a 3ph 3/4HP just because I have it but I'm sure it will e adequate.
I wonder 🤔, does any one supply something like the magnetic floor sweep for boots? Like a magnetic mat, to clean the swarf from your soles in order to prevent domestic striff? 😁
Ha... sounds like a plan to me! Never seen one.
HI MARK, DOES THE DC TIG HIGH FREQ USE A PEDAL OR SWITCH ON THE TORCH?
I use a button on the torch which starts the gas first (pre flow) and then the arc (high frequency). I have a peddle that controls amps on my YESWelder but I never liked using it. The reason is, the peddle has to be wherever you are welding. Estimating the amperage is fairly easy and not all that critical. If you're a little low you move slower or stop and turn up the amps.
Hi Mark and Happy New Year! I've been watching your videos for some time now and I have a question about the VFD you show. I have the same VFD mounted to a Drill Press. Motor HP is 1/2 and the VFD is made for that HP. The directions are typical poorly translated Chinese and are difficult to understand. My problem is lack of torque. For example, running a 1/4" Drill into steel using light quill pressure the Drill will come to a complete stop. Running either fast or slow has no effect. I've checked belt/pulley pressure and alignment and they are OK. The directions list a whole bunch of programmable inputs but none seem to deal with Torque. How can I increase the Torque capabilities on this Drive? Thanks!
That's very strange but there are a bunch of setting for sure. You will lose some power at lower speeds but it sounds like this is not the problem you are having. I'm not an expert but first I'd make sure you are running full RPM at full speed. Second make sure you're set at 60 hz. Has it always been like this? Do you think settings you changed may have caused this. Mine was set at 50hz but worked fine with factory settings. Maybe it has a factory reset?
Hi Mark, there does not appear to be a single "factory reset", so I returned all the presets to the default settings that are shown in the manual. Still bogs down while drilling. It appears I will either have to live with it or replace it with another brand. Thanks for your input.@@WinkysWorkshop
@@johnvalentine4909 Are you sure that the motor is good?
The Motor seems to work as it should. Runs in forward & reverse, stays cool and I can run it through the entire speed range with no problems. If one of the windings was bad would it appear to run normally when driven by a VFD? Should I do a continuity check?@@WinkysWorkshop
@@johnvalentine4909 I'm not very good with motors but I 120V single ph on my mill that was very much under powered. I took it to a motor shop and they said a winding was shorted. You might measure with an amp probe and see if the full rpm is drawing the right amount of amps. I guess you measure any of the three legs? No idea.

Do you get any feedback from Vevor or other manufacturers about your reviews and possible product changes?
Feedback? You mean payment? Honestly, most the Vevor products are given to me in exchange for doing a video although I bought a couple. Several times I've rated the products poorly but they don't seem to care. On one occasion I refused to do the review because the product was terrible. That was a mill vise. Again they didn't care. Their products are mostly good value but some are not.
@@WinkysWorkshop I am interested to find out if the companies use your mods to improve their products or just use your reviews to sell products.
@@plnmech They seem interested when I give them feedback but I think it stops there, although I have no way of knowing for sure. I think Vevor is just a middle man.
