Appreciate the video. I upgraded from the Sony str-dn1080 to the str-az3000es because I wanted rear height channels for dolby atmos. Well worth the money. Seems to add a little extra weight in the lower mid bass area. The spacial sound mapping is like adding magic to everything you listen to.
Yup.. Sony has more detail and dynamic sounds. Ive tried expensive ones from Marantz 50, Anthem avm 50, onkyo 840, Yamaha Aventage 2080, but Sony has more dynamic.
@@elmerbais This is sounding promising. As I replied to another comment I was getting a Denon specifically for Auro3D ‘cause Dolby Atmos seems to be a joke as Dolby Vision. I’m definitely looking into getting the AZ-5000es now.
@bigdog7660 Do you use the dual HDMI outs? if so, have you tried using the A+B out on the main zone? if you see my comment above, this doesn't work well for me. I am trying to see if maybe my receiver is faulty or if this is done intentionally.
I love Sony products I've been buying them for over 30 years I just purchased the AV receiver 7000 ES it was just shipped to my house on Friday I did get it out of the box it is definitely pretty heavy it matches the rest with my ES stuff haven't plugged it in yet but I will this week I did purchase the rest of the The Sony speakers that you can hook to the ceiling retiring my older surround sound 7.1 and it's an ES after 12 years
Amazing Receiver. I have Az 5000es. Loving it. Even with my old za3100es and my dh3700es.
I’m interested in the 5000. Let me ask you a question is the bass pre-outs balanced or unbalanced or more specifically can I tweak them independently of each other? I’m setting up a 7.2.4 surround sound. If the spatial mapping is as good as I’m hearing I’ll skip getting a Denon receiver mainly because I wanted Auro3D.
Just bought the 5000 ES as well. Pick it up next week, cannot wait!
I am considering purchasing one of the new Sony ES AVR's. Price differences aside is the new Sony ES models on par with higher end AVR's Like Arcam? Mainly the AVR31?
How would you say this compares to the Onkyo RZ50?
I was considering the Emotiva MC1 or the Onkyo RZ50.
And does the 32 bit DAC make a difference in spacial audio? I have the Onkyo Rz820 and has a 24 bit DAC 🤷
I would like to know what the max power output of all channels of the 5000 and 7000 would you happen to know? I dont want to use the pre outs with external amps and try to do my best to match well suited speakers.
A couple of questions... Does the 5000 series have a full preamp mode where when activated it turns off the internal amps? How does the Sony room correction compare to Denon's Audessey XT32? Does the Sony have a web interface that can be used for setup without having to do everything on the remote?
Would I need to purchase a special cable to connect an ES 5000 receiver to my new Sony TV to make the TV act as a Center channel audio or is that cable included with the receiver?
Does it pass through 8K or does it upscale lesser resolution to 8K? If upscaling, how good does it do with SDR/DVD 480p content
Confused by Dolby Atmos vs 360SSM. I have a 5.1.4 system using the STR-AZ5000ES. All wired speakers. Most movies with Dolby Atmos sound great. Is there a need to turn on 360SSM? If I do turn on 330SSM I really can’t tell a difference.
So when do you use 360SSM? Perhaps one should turn on 360SSM when watching older 5.1 Dolby Digital DVDs? Is 360SSM intended mainly when listening to stereo music to try and create some spatially audio?
I’ve search UA-cam for a tutorial on this subject but haven’t found a good presentation on the subject.
I am starting a renovation and I want to control 3 zones: 1. Main living area with home theatre. Thinking of a simple 5.1 set up 2. Kitchen with only audio. 3. Patio with only audio. can I use the Sony STR - AZ3000ES 9.2 to power all the zones. Can I use it for example to stream Spotify to zone 3 and watch TV in zone 1? Can I use my phone to stream music to any one of the zones?
How would the STR-AZ5000ES pair with the Sony A95K and the Sony UBP-X800M2 ?
Will this receiver play a different audio source than video? Scenario would be a party with a game on the TV but music playing. I had a Yamaha that did this 20 years ago and it was a great feature. My last receiver wouldn’t do it.
Excellent Video! I just purchased the 5000 ES. I love it but i do have an issue. Dual HDMI outputs A+B doesn’t work if one of the 2 displays are turned off. I set zone b to main and for whatever reason …A+B only works if both my projector and TV are on at the same time. can you please test this to see if this is just faulty on my receiver? thanks!
imo, A+B is the wrong setting to use
@@SlotHits777 well I think it’s stupid to have dual outputs and not be able to utilize A+B unless both displays are on. For people who have a projector and a TV behind the screen this would of been perfect! This plus no HDMI auto switching makes zero sense.
Considering upgrading my home theater setup: 77" CX 4K Smart OLED (2020) with HDR/Dolby Vision, Denon AVR-X3700H in a 5.4.4 Surround Setup, and four subwoofers in a 37'2" x 27'10" room. Wondering if the Sony STR-AZ7000ES is a worthy upgrade from the Denon. I unfortunately cannot add DIRAC to my AVR because of the age. The portion of the review that discusses the way it handles spatial audio really caught my ear, but is it worth it? #HomeTheaterUpgrade #SonySTR-AZ7000ES

Very happy with my STRAZ5000ES except one quirk. There is an annoying (though not actually all that loud) thump sent to the subwoofer LFE channel whenever the receiver senses an audio signal change or 3-20 seconds after stopping playback of a signal. This is especially noticeable when moving between UI elements on an Apple TV (etc.) when UI sounds are enabled. But it's also noticeable after video playback ends (etc.). Could this be due to a defect? @Brian, do you notice anything like this?
Oh! for this to happen, it appears at least some speakers need to be set to "small". . . . with any crossover set.

These receivers seem to be moving in a new direction yet only one independent reviewer makes it very frustrating trying to gather info on its capabilities. Maybe its just too soon.
We see 8k and 4k split. Are they all 8k and able to do 4k as well.? maybe labeled like that to tell what they support?
We got the lg c1 120hz. Online world said to use 8k connection to receiver full bandwidth.
Why would they still offer 4k when 8 k connection does full bandwidth and backwards capable.
The c1 came out years ago. 8k tv's exist.

sure - complete the calibration to enable the extra features. my experience has been horrible.
Can you not get it to recognize that cal completed either? That is my issue here. No errors but the additional features refuse to unlock and the info says cal was not completed.
After the calibration, go to manual setup. Make sure you have tape measure to give you more accurate measurements. Put your speaker to small, not unless your Left and right is tower full range.. adjust your frequency to 80hz. If you’re watching movies . Choose afd movies and press 360 on your remote to give you more immersive bubble sounds.
@@elmerbais I didn’t remeasure but maybe that’s a good idea. I set all to small and crossover all at 80. I tried the 360ssm and on my 7000es it puts a strange noise into my system when nothing is playing. I also kinda like the more detailed directional sound with it off.
@@CraZnes you know what i do get some weird noise aswell with my 5000es, is it sounds like negative feedback of bass from sub and other speakers. Its like sucking the sub in reverse, i noticed that if the 360 is engaged. Which is im not getting from my other Sony za3100es.
I’ve no doubt these are superb bits of kit. But this sounds like a Sony sponsored promotional video.
Way too much info without showing each receiver. It’s too hard to follow for the receiver you’re interested in.
I love how Apple TV has the option to reduce loud sound right on screen. I hope it works with this.

I just need to know what brand works best with APPLE TV?? Also more catered towards voice and brightness, NOT BOOMY LOUD SOUND. lol. I still have PTSD from Covid, all the riots, gunfire and skyrocketing crime. I don’t need my home theater to scare me. Those days of “so called movie experience” are hopefully behind us. Even 15 years ago I went to a theater in LA where the seats vibrate during adventures. FKKING hated it. Was so awful and uncomfortable. I don’t want so much stimulation my body actually believes we are at war. It’s already on that line.
