Wonderful tune. I recently heard it played soulfully by the Minnesota Symphony's retiring bassoonist. I look forward to playing in on the piano for my church at offering -- it's so short and sweet. Sorry I haven't heard this beautiful song earlier. This performance with the king looks like such a pleasant ritual -- sort of white soul music, don't you think?
Den här låten gjordes på 1800 talet av (Karl Johan Karlström, 1826-1917), Benny Andersson har inspirerats av svensk folkmusik (har han sagt i flera intervjuer). Så det är säkert helt riktigt :-)
Gustav B there actually are lyrics that goes to the melody. I’m from the neighboring village so I would know. “Uti äppelbo, uti Äppelbo, där finns hä månge finä kullur må du tro” osv.
they couldn't wait or the song to finish properly before they all had to pile up out of there? kinda rude to just start walking out during the middle of the last song of the night, in my opinion. I guess once the king was like "ok, get me the hell out of here" and decided to just go , everyone else was like "no point in sticking around" and the king obviously can't stand his wife if he just starts walking away and not even checking if she;s behind him. kinda funny, their marriage was essentially an arranged marriage anyways. . i'd probably be sick of someone too.... beautiful music and performance
I am not swedish but to me it seems you misunderstood the whole thing. They play a ganglat, in this case a ganglat form appelbo, a very well known ganglat. Ganglat means "to go, to leave" its always played at the end of a feast, a stämman or other get togethers where music is played. the king hears the ganglat and he knows now he has to leave. so he gets up - the king getting up means all the rest of the audience also has to get up and to leave. Btw: did you see Bruce Springsteen?

Jag som kommer från Äppelbo känner mig riktigt stolt över detta.
För Sverige - i tiden!
wonderful haunting melody and one of the few and the best choir version of this song online!! :)
It’s supposed to be a happy tune :P
Jag kunde ha blivit ett äppelboäpple. men jag blev ett älvkarlebyäpple. Och till hälften boxholmare.
Fantastiskt musikstycke.
I'm learning this tune. I'm trying to work out what it means to Swedish people. Is it very well known? From childhood? Anthem?
Älskar den ❤️
A haunting and lovely tune, which by good fortune is easy to learn and play on the fiddle. Enjoy!
Vackert !!🥹😭Blir lite Tårögd faktiskt 🤗❤️🇸🇪
Yes, and next to the queen stands choral conductor Eric Ericson. Springsteen and Ericson were awarded the Polar Music Prize in -97.
Vi tar den som nationalsång!
AHH I understand now! I'm learning this but don't know why everyone seems so proud more than usual!
You can never conquer a country that can sing like this. Our sprirts will never break.

En folkvisa av Guds Nåde. Lysande.
Beautiful
Nice Song. I played on my Keyboard and sing at in the Cologne Philharmonie, conducted by Babrak Wassa.
Det här låter som musik som inspirerat Björn och Benny.
Lyssna på Arrival (melodin), klinga mina klockor och hela Kristina från Duvemåla

Is that Bruce Springsteen right next to the King?
Yes, one popularand one "traditional" musician is awarded the Polarprice, donated by the ABBA conected producer .
Så vacker musik så mitt hjärta blöder kram pia
Are there actually any words to this , or is it just Pam pa ,pam pa etc etc?
There are lyrics.
This song has no lyrics and anyone telling you elsewise is misinformed. What you hear is just Pam Pam etc.

Gång is walking and låt is tune, so the songs name is walkingtune.
The song goes on forever.
