Beats me, I was only a little baby when those films in were in theatres.

Look, I'm deeply sorry if anyone gets offended by my opinion. If you like Pippi Longstocking, that awesome! Keep on having fun with it. But for me, this is one of the worst animated movies I have EVER seen. Yes, even more than The Emoji Movie. At least that film had good enough animation to it. This film, regardless of what year it was released, will always look hideous to me. The character design are lazy and unimaginative. The colour is washed out and flat. And and the backgrounds are the complete opposite of interesting. You know, I wouldn't be too mad if this film was released direct-to-video. But NO, this film was released THEATRICAL. At the same time, we got Anastasia, Hercules, Princess Mononoke and Cats Don't Dance! Those films looked amazing! Now granted, they had bigger budgets than this film, so here is another example. Rock & Rule, which was made by Nelvana, the same company who made Pippi, came 15 years before this with an $8 million dollar budget, and looked WAY BETTER than this.
Second of all, the characters. Tommy and Annika are beyond unintresting and lack the slightest bit of personality. Kling and Klang are complete morons that furthers nothing to the plot, Thunder-Karlsson and Bloom are rip-offs of Marv and Harry from Home Alone and Mrs Pryssilius could've been a good character if the writers made her more deep and/or complex. But if there is one thing I hate more in this film than I hate in any other living thing in this, it has to be Pippi Longstocking herself. Here is the thing folks; in any other animated film, and I mean ANY animated film, like Snow White, Nausicaä, Akira, Toy Story, Shrek, Spirited Away ect, I can understand the appeal of the characters. I have an understanding of why people can like them because they have lots personality, have a heart of gold or some other cool stuff. Pippi however, *no way.* There is no way in hell I could understand anyone who likes her. She doesn't get the slightest of character development, the jokes she does is insultingly unfunny, the songs(most of them being sung by her) are cringeworthy bad and most importantly, she is about as annoying as hearing a massive buzzsaw.
