I really love the setting of Sevastopol. It is a main battleship, that was supposed to be supported by a proper screen fleet and supplied by a proper logistics system. But now you have carry it in a guerrilla war that she wasn't designed for. I always try to keep her around as long as I could, really immersive.
yea I'm kind of divided on this. I mean, she's a burden. It's easy to make a lighter fleet with a custom capital ship. But then I grant that she's part of the story so we have to live with her - part of the story is paying for her to get to Khiva. When I play with a custom capital ship it doesn't feel the same - there's not the same 'center' to the game; just a collection of little strike groups. Though there are some small modifications to Sevastopol that improve it I think that are worth doing.
@@38-simulated17 This could do with a mothball ability that lets you keep ships in docks. Or better yet, you could go full Yamato and hide larger ships like Sevastopol in the middle of nowhere and comeback later when you have the supplies to finance it.
Agreed. I love the concept of how Sevastopol, even though powerful, was designed more with a cultural and aesthetic pride, and rushed into service incomplete. The idea being that you were supposed to “complete” her through the campaign, by upgrading and modifying her.
I usually tactically weight reduce the Sevastopol, by that I mean I use it to steam roll two strike groups then never repair it and use it as a fuel mule, One run I got too pissed at how long I have to refuel every time so I just left it in the desert somewhere and it worked, fleet functioned nicely even without it.
@@gnas1897 honestly it is better to deposit that massive waste of fuel out in the southern desert, I only bring it to the front when I want to nab that special someone [censored for spoiler purposes]. It is far more effective to bring a secondary heavy cruiser to replace the savi or just dump into a bunch of mediums and spread as much as you can.
I learned that even the strike groups have issues fighting her. Her cannons are quick to reload, USUALLY really accurate, and she's fairly well armored if you keep moving and properly prioritize your targets.
i mainly use it to smash strike groups in the early game, myself. pop off all the sensitive and expensive electronics, put armor plates over the missile silos, and she can absorb quite a bit of punishment as long as you don't let anything get at her belly.
yea the sevastopol is kind of brutal - it can't move so it has to absorb everything. I actually find that it's a bit of an albatross around your neck through the campaign - having to drag this hulk to Khiva. Still, when it has to get into it, it can put out a lot of lead.
Kinda skipping over part of the challenge of using a bulky heavy weight in a marathon sprint. It's also an incredibly fun ship in the late game, keeping ships at your sides
Yeah. This thing is a work of absolute art man! There's so many nuances and depth to this game. It all comes together so cohesively to be a super immersive experience. It is a complete nail-biter. Fights and tactics will definitely get your heart pumping. And you really feel the weight of the ships and the ambiance. Definitely a hidden gem!

It's like someone took a sci-fi battlecruiser, strapped some booster rockets on it, and let it loose over the Balkans.

yep, default sevastopol feels like a burden on the fleet, better to have more smaller specialized ships

Oh...
The sound design tho
I personally like to put it as "It's a battleship in a frigate war."
it is an amazing ship, but i rarely get to use it except when fighting strike groups
Yea bit of a fuel hog. I sometimes resent having to pay to move it across Gerat..
Agree....normally the moment i have to use it is when i lost every single escort i have
In Russian localization “target destroyed” sound more authentic and brutal, “vrag unichtozhen” with radio curves sound uff
sevas AA fire seems like it always misses
Because it has no CIWS so obviously larger and slower shells would have a harder time connecting

All fun and games until a strike team with missle carriers spams missles and screws up your hull.

Ick, strip the guns off it and give it some planes. Those three ships probably did their value in damage and then some.

Yeah I've never played a campaign were I've kept her. I've always used the shilp builder to make a better one. And used that instead.
