@@jlfc7455 the point in having 100billion supply is to account for longevity and There is a burn rate which is currently around 2million a year (I think) and that will increase as XRP is utilised to transact. So if XRPL is to be utilised as a conduit for value glabally, then the value needs to be high enough to ensure that it takes into account various factors such as burn rate, longevity, optimal transaction per asset and so on.

I don't understand any of this any better now than I did before I watched this video. There are people who think there is money to be made by buying xrp, but I don't see what gives it value. I sure hope I find someone who can explain this in layman's terms. I don't want to miss an opportunity, but I want to ubderstand why the value of xrp will go up as high as some people think it will.

Consensus is the true definition of value. Some people value time. Some people value relationships. Monetary value in itself is a consensus about an object being valued by the majority. When SHTF food, water, medicine, ammunition becomes more valuable than gold
I think people just want to understand how tokenization is going to affect my ownership of my property my car my house my land. What if I am making payments to the bank for said assets this appears not to be as simple as one may think. I think all the value of a single XRP is going to come from scarcity. 100 billion tokens isn't that much when you're talking about large corporations, wealthy individuals and even whole countries holding any asset to use, as well as store their wealth. ODL and tokenization even aren't going to compare, in my opinion.
When the U.S. Dollar was taken off the Gold Standard, and it became fiat money, it became virtual assets and didn't have any value until it was used to buy and sell. The value of that dollar depended on the value of what was bought and sold, not on gold

The AMM (auto-market maker) aspect of what he's saying balances the volatility though. Market makers make profit by balancing trades, right?
So in reality no one really knows where the value of XRP will come from, because no body can really explain where value lives.
