Cards Against Humanity was fun the first time...but after you've heard all the cards it loses its luster. Looking forward to trying out some of these alternatives.
You probably dont care at all but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot my password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Jayceon Julien Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
If you want a chance to win one of the three games - like this video, subscribe to this channel and post a comment below (no hashtags). I'm also running a competition at the moment on my Twitter to win a Back to the Future Delorean for Colt Express. Enter here: twitter.com/actualol/status/734740754166370304
Great video. I enjoy CAH, but I do find it repetitive after playing a few times. Therefore it rarely gets brought out anymore. I will have to look into these other games as well.
When you mentioned Snake Oil’s publisher going out of business, I immediately paused the video and ordered a copy. Thanks so much for the review! Very creative as usual!
I just found your channel (actually what brought me here was your boardgame song, which I found at the boardgamegeek). Your videos are truly good stuff :D
Been looking for a board game/irl game channel for ages, so glad I found this. I often make my own versions of games like these bc my family includes a range of ages/maturities/sense of humour/religion etc so I often have to remove cards from games like funemployed so my grandma doesn't get offended or reword cards so children can understand. This has given me some new ideas as well as introducing me to Stinker and Stipulations which sound like they could be idea already! Would also love to win!:)
My board game group suffered the same problems you identified in Cards Against Humanity so we remixed it with Say Anything to create: Cards Against Say Anything. by using the CAH deck instead of the SA deck you get the best of both worlds, interesting funny set ups and open ended answers.
I can't believe I didn't see your videos before. So hilarious! Stinker and Stipulations sound great. I have BYOB already, and it's a great family game.
I'm not sure that any of these games elicit laughter the way a new Actualol video does, but I'd be willing to give them a try. Thanks for another hilarious video.
The winners of the competition are Sam A, Dan Markoff and Matthew Chhay! For everyone who didn't win, do not fear! There's another competition in my latest video - 5 Alternatives to Pictionary: ua-cam.com/video/PkejNDp8624/v-deo.html
I honestly did not know about most of these games before I watched your video. Thank you for the explanations on how to play each one and I will definitely be looking to buy one in the near future!
I absolutely love the humour that you add and the wonderful characters you create for your videos. So far I've enjoyed each one and am always excited to see a new one go up. Keep up the great work and looking forward to more
Your videos give us a chance to hear about some games we otherwise might not have heard of in a very funny enjoyable way. I find I'm often checking to see if you've released a new video. Thank you for the laughs!
I run a board game club at my school and the students always ask 'Can we play Cards Against Humanity'. Because it's a school sanctioned event, the answer is obviously no, but I also tell them that CAH is quite restrictive; you have to play to the card makers sense of humor and the offensiveness and shock value can depreciate quickly. We've only ever played one CAH-esque game (Funemployed) and it was a massive hit, mostly due to them being able to make their own tone to the game and being able to be more creative. I must admit I hadn't heard of most of these but they all look absolutely terrific!
Another great video. I bought telestrations on your recommendation and the family loved it. BYOB and Stipulations seem like great games. Stinker looks hilarious too.
Bring your own book looks pretty fun! Great video, this is much more engaging than the hour long top tens (with thirty games) that the numbered polyherdon turret.
I really like Snake Oil, and it can definitely be family friendly or not depending on who you're playing with. Played at Christmas with my family and even my 7-year-old niece could join in. But when playing with friends, there were innuendos everywhere.
I love the game Story War as a CAH alternative. It's hard to get used to for non-creative players, but with the right group it's a lot of fun. I imagine kids would love this game.
This is my favourite video from you yet! Along with the christmas games vid. And not just because you're giving away goodies ;) Stipulations looks great!
Great video! I've been looking to get my friends away from playing CAH lately. Stinker, say anything, or stipulations all look like they could work with my group. Another alternative that worked great with my friends is game of things but we've pretty much gone through all the best questions for it.
Thank you, I was looking for something to replace CAH. The only one I've recognized was 'Say Anything', so there are many new names for me in this list. I was laughing so hard on 'my diary from last year' part - you're hilarious.
Great video! I've been meaning to buy Funemployed to play when someone else suggests we play Cards Against Humanity. Now I have a larger list of games to buy to fulfill this goal. Thanks!
Thank you again for another great list of games! Your videos have for sure help out a few times when my husband and I go pick-up a new game to a growing collection. Hopefully soon we will have a great alternative to Cards Against Humanity in our collection! Totally agree that after a certain point, Cards Against Humanity does get very repetitive.
As somebody who dreads people asking 'can we play cards against humanity again' this video was exactly what I needed, Stipulations, Snake Oil and Bring your Own Book sound right up my street.
Congrats to another great video! I hope you'll have a ton of views and subscribers because this format is really original, funny and fresh. Looking forward to another topic :)
Best line ever in snake oil… the customer was a beggar and our friend made a point of choosing her cards randomly! Then she said, dryly, ‘beggars can’t be choosers!’ - instant win!!!
You have so many contests going on. I have hoped to find something people would play instead of Cards against Humanity hopefully one of these would work. Keep up the good content.
These all look great! Stipulations looks particularly great. Shame to hear that the company making Snake Oil has gone out of business though, I was trying to find that game for my board games club, but Funemployed could be a good shout. But anyway, yay competitions!
I appreciate how you mapped your suggestions to the different aspects of CAH. Nicely done video with some good suggestions. Though I'm obviously partial to BYOBook, I've played Snake Oil with the extended family and it was a riot.
I watched this video earlier today - and immediately went and subscribed and watched more! Your reviews are great, and you have such a good format. Keep up the great work!
Nice list. I've been slowly moving CAH to harder and harder places to find on our shelf every time I reorganize. A few of these definitely look like something I could pull out to offer to play instead if someone does happen to pull out CAH on game night.
I probably missed the give but you sir you are a riot I laughed so hard milk shot out my nose and I am lactose intolerant and haven't had a glass in ten years. Haha
Great video, Jon. Informative and funny, as always. Nice that you point out what type of groups the games are best for. I like in BYOB how the books occasionally get passed around the group, so an "overpowered" book gets shared with everyone. One of the funniest books we had was HTML for Dummies - it was great seeing people struggle and succeed to find good lines :)
Cards Against Humanity was fun the first time...but after you've heard all the cards it loses its luster. Looking forward to trying out some of these alternatives.
"I think we're beginning to learn why you're single"
Dead.
Geoff Goldplum LMAO IM LITERALLY DYING 😂😂😂
You probably dont care at all but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account?
I was dumb forgot my password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Ezra Joe instablaster ;)
@Jayceon Julien Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process atm.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Jayceon Julien It worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my ass!
"But the card said amazing. I'm beginning to understand why you're single."
That "Bring Your own Book" looks like a great way to break the ice for a book club.
If you want a chance to win one of the three games - like this video, subscribe to this channel and post a comment below (no hashtags).

Posting!! :-)
Greetings nice video I just bought bring your own book, looks fun.
Video definitlly gives something to think about
Three more games to get.
I really enjoy what you're making keep it up!
Great video. I enjoy CAH, but I do find it repetitive after playing a few times. Therefore it rarely gets brought out anymore. I will have to look into these other games as well.
I always appreciate suggestions of "if you like [blank] you should try [blank]." I'm definitely going to look into getting some of these!
When you mentioned Snake Oil’s publisher going out of business, I immediately paused the video and ordered a copy. Thanks so much for the review! Very creative as usual!
"what book is that, 50 shades of Gray?"
"No, this is my diary from the past year"
hahaha, thanks for your funny videos!
+MONO LÚDICO Thanks for going back and watching old ones! :)
I just found your channel (actually what brought me here was your boardgame song, which I found at the boardgamegeek). Your videos are truly good stuff :D
Just watched this one for the first time, too! Freaking hilarious man!
Your videos are the best board game videos on youtube. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Jason, that's very kind of you to say!
My wife and I love your channel. We always add games to our wish list after one of these videos. Thank you very much.
+Tyler Weeks Thank you! :)
I think each of these games will really open up in new ways depending on the people you play with. Another awesome video Jon, love it!
+Dougflip81 Thanks Doug! You're right, these games can be very different with different groups, another reason why I enjoy them.
Your videos are delightfully entertaining. They intrigue people to go out, buy, and play these games. Keep up the amazing humor.
Very humerous and great joke recommending variant games! Love your humor and wit and grasp of small box games 😀
I love your commentary. Really appreciate knowing not only what games are out there, but what they are best for.
I can't believe how simple but genius Bring Your Own Book is. Can't wait to give it a try!
I'm not sure that any of these games elicit laughter the way a new Actualol video does, but I'd be willing to give them a try. Thanks for another hilarious video.

Stipulations sounds perfect for my varied group of friends. Dark & light humor will fly all over the room.
Great find.
I love your videos, especially when you perform the mother or the child roles. Hilarious! XD
Just found this channel. It's hard to find good board game reviews with this high of quality. very good job.
Keep up the great work and looking forward to more
Bring your own book looks like fun. We already love Snake Oil.
Your videos give us a chance to hear about some games we otherwise might not have heard of in a very funny enjoyable way. I find I'm often checking to see if you've released a new video. Thank you for the laughs!
I played Snake Oil a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised! Great review on all these, they look like a lot of fun.
I run a board game club at my school and the students always ask 'Can we play Cards Against Humanity'. Awesome channel. Content gets better and better. Great list and great humour!
I bought Stinker for my best friend for Christmas last year, and we absolutely love playing it! Can't recommend it enough.
Bring your own book and stipulations both seem amazing! Thank you for this!
I love the way you cover obscure games that dont really get talked about, I learn a lot of new games from watching you vids. Keep it up =)
Another great video. I bought telestrations on your recommendation and the family loved it. BYOB and Stipulations seem like great games. Stinker looks hilarious too.
I wish you brought out more videos. You're one of the few UA-camrs who can hold my attention for over 15 minutes. Also, ftw!
+Ronnie Lunn Me too! Sadly they take a long time to make. Glad you enjoy them though :)
I'll give your videos a shot. This one was quite entertaining. I like that you put the links in the description too. Nice touch.
Bring your own book looks pretty fun!
Great video, this is much more engaging than the hour long top tens (with thirty games) that the numbered polyherdon turret.
Very nice video. I like the humor in all your clips. Keep up the good job!
I really like Snake Oil, and it can definitely be family friendly or not depending on who you're playing with. Played at Christmas with my family and even my 7-year-old niece could join in. But when playing with friends, there were innuendos everywhere.
Another great rundown. Entertaining and informative. I love what you're doing here. Thank you for the effort!
Love seeing fun summaries of games I don't own! Always something I look for. This is very well done!
Snake Oil is my go to party game. Always have a blast!
love your videos cap'n.
Great video. Thanks for putting the time in effort in producing a humorous video informing us of these alternatives.
Your videos are genuinely funny, making your channel's name especially appropriate.
Stipulations sounds like a great game!
My favorite game videos. Love learning about new games from you!
I like the direction you are going with on your videos. It helps you become different from many others.
+Robyn Zwicker Thanks Robyn, glad you're enjoying the new stuff. More alternatives videos in the future, I hope!
I love the game Story War as a CAH alternative. It's hard to get used to for non-creative players, but with the right group it's a lot of fun. I imagine kids would love this game.
I've never heard of any of these alternatives. Bring Your Own Book sounds awesome! Also, the mom reading from her diary...hilarious!
I've been binge watching board game reviews and yours are definitely the best!
Thanks Malcolm! That's really cool. I do a lot of binge watching of board game reviews too :)
This is my favourite video from you yet! Along with the christmas games vid. And not just because you're giving away goodies ;) Stipulations looks great!
Thanks! :)
Great video as usual. I love it when you do these lists. A lot of them look great to get next!
I love games, and the first three especially sound right up my alley! Thanks for this video.
"Oliver Twist is over-powered" CLASSIC! Really funny video I have games to add to my wishlist now :D
This looks like a great list of party games. I'm interested in trying all of them!
Great video! I've been looking to get my friends away from playing CAH lately. Stinker, say anything, or stipulations all look like they could work with my group. Another alternative that worked great with my friends is game of things but we've pretty much gone through all the best questions for it.

'Aaaahhh!!!' moment when mum says 'No, that was my diary from last year.' Brilliant!
If you uploaded more consistently you'd easily be one of the most subscribed board game channels! I'd love to see more vlogs!
+Allison Hetter You're welcome Allison!
As somebody who dreads people asking 'can we play cards against humanity again' this video was exactly what I needed, Stipulations, Snake Oil and Bring your Own Book sound right up my street.
Great video, I appreciate running through the ups and downs of each of them!
Congrats to another great video! I hope you'll have a ton of views and subscribers because this format is really original, funny and fresh. Looking forward to another topic :)
+17shade17 Thank you! I'm glad you like the format, I have more planned for the future.
Fantastic. A very entertaining review that brings out the essence of the games. Thanks again.
Informative, hilarious and brilliant as always. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to the next video.
Best line ever in snake oil… the customer was a beggar and our friend made a point of choosing her cards randomly!
Then she said, dryly, ‘beggars can’t be choosers!’ - instant win!!!
Another great video. I'd love to add some more great party games to my collection for when family and non games come round.
Love your videos. The goofy characters keep me coming back. :-)
You have so many contests going on. I have hoped to find something people would play instead of Cards against Humanity hopefully one of these would work. Keep up the good content.
Thanks for these alternatives! My group of friends had that punchline-problem with CAH that you mentioned, so I'll show this video to them!
"This is my diary from last year." 😂 Actually LOL'd.
Thanks for the great review! Informational, funny, and insightful game mechanic analysis.
Stipulations looks SO FUN!
Great vid as always, the characters are hilarious! :)
Funniest video yet! Thanks for the amazing content and for the contest.
Wow! Thanks for the contest - really enjoying the channel!
John, you're the only board game UA-camr that my wife gets excited to watch! Keep it up!
Great list, I had heard of all these games in passing but I think I'll be picking up a few now.
so nice to see some good alternatives to CAH when it inevitably goes stale or truly offends someone. good luck to folks in the giveaway!
Thanks for the exposure to these sweet games!
Great suggestions, thank you! This is the first one of your videos I've seen. Good work.
Also, anyone who wants to try out BYOBook, we have a free print-and-play demo on our website: www.bringyourownbook.com

+Andrew Doucet Thanks Andrew!
Got a chance to play Bring Your Own Book at "Now Play This" Somerset House- and it was really excellent
Say Anything and Stinker are both great! So fun to see them on this list.
I always learn about awesome new games from your videos!
between this and the dexterity videos, I'm a new fan. subscribed!
Love watching your videos, thanks for helping guide me to so many new and wonderful games!🎉
Definitely interested in Stipulations! My go-to party games are Time's Up - Title Recall and Telestrations.
+Aggrocragg Great choices!
Nice list. I've been slowly moving CAH to harder and harder places to find on our shelf every time I reorganize. A few of these definitely look like something I could pull out to offer to play instead if someone does happen to pull out CAH on game night.
A friend recommended Stinker, and told me to watch this video to learn more. Definitely going to watch the rest of your videos!
+mainlinewasp They sound like a great friend!

+Jarrod Farquhar-Nicol That sounds fun, I can't wait to play again with some weirder books!
Really like the idea of Bring your own Book.
Sounds like a genius idea
Laughed out loud more than once during this one. I cant wait for the next video.
