This video is very important, because "Bino" is most important. There are many vids about these tools, the difference with this one vid is the presenter. Many years of using all the tools brought Bino to the point where his oppnion is like gold. He didn't read about the tools, someone didn't tell him about them, he didn't watch a video about his topic. Bino lived the experiences. That means hands on, waist deep in muck, supporting his life, and yes he has made mistakes, then learned and corrected for them. Thank you Bino.
Bino, I agree with Ipunchseagulls, youre one of the best on youtube for climbing tutorials. I do have a question, what brand of tether is the short gray tether you use? That seems really compact and clean, but I cant find that thing anywhere.
Yes I have it was one of the first ones I used. it works nice but it's made of aluminum and after using if for a while it rubbed and got wider which made it creep. Thanks.
Awesome video! I am old school myself...I have no real desire to do all the fancy repealing. I simple want to get the job done. Keep it simple less to go wrong!
great breakdown. been trying to sort this out for a bit now, just getting started. Wrope Wrench makes sens for me. Control, cost, versatility, wearing parts can be replaced. Sure it may be clunky, but it takes time to learn
Thank you, I have used the Zig Zag only a hand full of times in MRS and SRS it's nice smooth. The thing I'm not so fond of is that there is only one way to install it on a line and it's not mid line attachable.
Hi bino... Thank you for your knowledge. You are very amazing tree climber.. in greece there aren't devices.. i have one question.. hitch climber is it safe???
Buying a tool that's dependable and versatile is important to me, so when I graduate out of my Blake's hitch I'll be looking for a Rope Wrench with a short tether. Thanks Bino.
Thanks Bino! Very informative video. I’ve been climbing drt with a dmm hitch climber setup but I want to start climbing srt. I’m on a budget so the rope wrench sounds like a great option for me cause I can use the same hitch!
Another great gear rundown. Thanks sir. I have both of those mechanical devices. I started on a Blake's hitch. Then the hitch climber. Then to the wrench. High five Bino.
@@BinoH depends on what the climb calls for I suppose. I can always climb with just a rope and a snaps. I like the akimbo for crane work. It's so fast on and off the rope. Limb walking goes to the RR pro. I like em both, and have experienced the points you mentioned.
If i set the RR for the ivy it runs super smooth but i got the ivy for drt and zig zag. Same setting on drenaline is a lil tight but still works good for me to switch back and forth on lines.
Great comparison. After working with the Hitch Climber setup a while, I'm looking to play with some SRT, mainly for occasional ascents, and I'm checking into mechanical devices. As I understand it, you can use a Rope Runner or Akimbo for ups and downs on SRT, but need to add the Chicane for a ZigZag? The main gripe I've heard about the Akimbo is that even a small amount of sap can seriously interfere with it.
Old skool is always the most reliable. I like the rope wrench with a prusik too. I use that on the same blue and white rope you have displayed. On drt I use the zigzag with a rope wrench cuz the zig zag is to fast sometimes on ivy. Gets jumpy now and then and the rope wrench pretty much smooths it out. What is the blue and white rope you have there, called? I would buy more of it. I got a 200’ cheap from a rock climber who wasn’t going to use it and he didn’t know what it was either.
Another great video. Each device has its perks, have you looked into the chicane/Zig Zag combo? The rope wrench was the original and is still used a lot. Shows it's still relevant
Keeping it real for all us older bigger guys... You've just put me off the mechanical's. I'm interested in the shorter tether though. Is it something you bit yourself?
The sound that goes with the text throws me off a little! Could be the volume of it, the sound itself, or may just be me - just wanted to give the feedback! Thank you for another helpful video Bino! Grateful for you (& Noah) making these 🙏
Bino - so glad I discovered you - I'm old school DRT and now thinking of shifting to SRT So this comparison is exactly what I needed as I was thinking mechanical but based on what you've said, my mind is saying go the rope wrench Question I have is whether to go with a stiff tether or the Notch Fusion Wrench Tether at 4 times the price - probably a rhetorical question as I can't see the improvement is four times better although I haven't tried I'm curious to know if you have experience with the Notch Fusion Wrench
I think the Wrench it a good way to go it is a lot less expensive. I have not used the fusion tether but it might be better to use a stiff tether first. This will give you a chance to see it you like SRT/ SRS.
@@BinoH no worries Bino - keep your genuine videos coming Just watched one by Strider called 'My Pro Climbing setup ("I don't care what it costs I'm just getting the best I can setup")' It was good to see a complete run thru of climbing gear - even if I think his choice of foot ascender is not optimal compared to yours So I'm keen to see a similar one by you if you haven't done one already - but perhaps with a care to costs :)

Cool but you don't have to make one. When I made my tether there wasn't very many options. You could buy a quick drawl and buy a Notch Quickie and have a set up almost like mine. You could use the Quckie as the part that attaches to top of the pulley. also Rope Logic makes a tether called a Shorty but I'm not sure if Quickie will fit into the eye of the Tether.
