Good experience, i have had the pleasure of growing up with a professional fisherman father and more or less born on boats. driving them on own since 10 years old. Mates and i would put out our own nets and fish since 12. When covid struck and Grocery stores ran low on food, we never panicked as got in our boats and caught our own. So many scared would run out of food. learn to fish and never go hungry.

Maura! Super dat je als enige Nederlander en Europeaan aan boord zit. Leer van hen maar laat ze ook leren van jou! Ik volg Zatara al jaren maar en dit maakt het alleen maar leuker. 🎉
Wow, Renee, your editing just keeps getting better and better. Amazing job. Congrats to the deckhands joining the crew... can't wait to see what happens next!
Mom an Dad you have got to be the coolest to have all those teenagers on your beautiful sailing yacht,I'm wishing you and your guests all the best ,hope you have a great voyage!!!!!!!
I am honored to understood what the Dutch lady said. I speak afrikaans, so I understood what she said. Enjoy the journey!! Fyi, the kids will never never forget this opportunity. Keith and Renee is investing in every kids life that's on the boat. God bless!!

It’s sad that one young lady was so worried about being without wi fi for three days!! I hope she discovers the beauty of just enjoying life and her surroundings.can’t wait for next week Fair winds ⛵️
When I was her age wifi didn't exist & long distance phonecalls were too expensive. The soonest you could hear back from family the other side of the world was a minimum of two weeks.
Its "pollywogs" for before you cross the line, and shellbacks for after. Theres more! Arctic circle: Blue Nose Golden shellback: crossing the equator at the IDL Emerald shellback: crossing at the prime meridian Imperial order of the golden dragon: crossing anywhere on the IDL
Zatara Crrew, I really enjoyed this video that you produced. I can't tell you how many times I watched this video alone. More than 10 times. Maybe about 20 by now. I don't know why so many times but I helped you to earn a little more. A miniscule amount, but none-the-less a little more. I do want to tell you that in the video you mentioned that someone is a "Scallywag" before they cross the equator and are considered a Shellback. I was in the US Navy for 20 years and we always referred to someone who has not yet crossed the equator as a "Pollywog" or just "Wog" and never a Scallywag. Then the sailor goes through the whole Wog ceremony after crossing the equator and pays their homage to King Neptune and is considered an honorable "Shellback." At least that's in the Navy. In the civilian world I don't know if it's any different. Is it?
All my Navy friends are sure to laugh at 'Skallywags' but hey.. it is all good. When I was in the Army, back in the day, we would often get a bunch of new guys and we would all have to cram into a small APC for deployments. It is only in those situations that you learn the true side of people. No place to hide, not place to pretend to be someone you are not. I often told my Soldiers that we have little if any privacy, just give a little grace. I hope all of you have a grand time, perhaps make some life long friends, and learn a little about each other that adds to your lives. Adventure, it is just that. And this is a grand adventure.
Good luck with your social experiment, should be a once in a lifetime experience for the young adults. Don't forget the sunscreen, some are a little pale!
Funny about a fear of being without Wifi! When I learned to sail back in the 1980's, the best thing about being on the water was not being bothered by the phone, or television or knocks on the door. Just calm, relaxing and quiet.
Such a great thing you are doing for/with these kids. A once in a lifetime experience for all! Anxiously awaiting the next video so my 66 year old self that identifies as a 19 year old can join in on the adventure in spirit!
Hi Mara, leuk dat je aan boord bent van de Zatara. En ik denk idd dat je als Europeaan heel wat te verduren krijgt 🙃maar dat je er ook heel veel van gaat opsteken. Big shout out to Renee, she now has to cook for nine, which seven off are teens 🙂
Great bunch of people. Good luck Rene with 7 teenagers! Wow! It’s quite a bit different on land but on a boat with limited space for you to escape the calamity. I recommend ear plugs, lol 🙏🇨🇦
Hey Zatara. I’m a 45 year old man from Austin. I found your channel 2 days ago. That was about 8 PM CST. After watching one video I then watched another then it suddenly was 4 in the morning. Lol. I showed my 8 year old son a couple and he especially liked when the crew catches a fish. Moreover, I just want to tell you when I was 13 years old my parents sent me off for a summer to live with my uncle who lived on a 47 foot boat in Gulfport, MS. Let me tell you those were some of the best times of my life certainly we didn’t sail the world like you all are doing. However, I learned so much that summer and my confidence increased so much a young teenager. I just want to tell you as adult man that has experienced this on a micro level that 100% you are doing your kids a huge favor that will serve them later in life. Much more than an inheritance of money. Love that you are helping other kids experience the maritime life and the life lessons that they will learn. Keep sharing that gift if possible. Nevertheless, keep up the great work and you just got a new sub. PS tell Keith that if he needs a running buddy I would gladly quit my corporate job and clean the hull for free
Wow!! Holy cow Neil! Thank you so much! It’s been an adventure for sure! Thank you for such kind words and so much encouragement! Welcome to our crazy world!!
Girl! Nederlandse geabonneerde hier!
I think it's so cool that you bring "crew" aboard to sail for a mo like that. I'm not a teen but I got excited as if I was new crew going aboard knowing I'd be on a boat for a mo. It's a dream of mine to buy a sailing Cat & travel the world.
It's so cool that you guys can do stuff like this and give young adults the chance to experience things that they most likely wouldn't have a chance to do otherwise. A month on a boat in one of the most beautiful areas on the planet is enough to make anyone jealous.
This is a great experience for these folks. I am almost 50 lived on the island most of my life but I forget most never get to experience this. You guys giving these young folks a great chance at learning and memories for a lifetime. Maybe making some friends.
This is exciting Z family...those kids are going to have the trip of their young lives.. Couldn't be a better family to introduce these kids to sailing the Z Family Style!! Have a great time guy's.... See Ya next week... ✌🏼💗😊❣️

I just love you guys SO much! What an incredible experience you are gifting not only to your children but to your young guests who are so fortunate to have this adventure on board ZATARA. The world will now be a smaller and hopefully, more loving planet - if only in increments. And who knows what the future holds for all of you...a bigger CAT ? Sailing school, charter guests from all different ages from all around the world? I don't know if continuing watching you on YOU TUBE will sate me much longer. Any room for seniors on board? Wishing all of you, glorious sunrises and sunsets and plenty of belly laughs until you cry! I'm with you in spirit, my " Mateys " . With love, blessings and respect ...bye for now. So excited to see what unfolds....
This is really going to make it fun. Great idea guys and so happy you picked the kids I voted for. I can tell you will all have good chemistry together.
Two places not to miss while in Jeddah ( lived there for 3.5 years) is Mada’in Salih and the Lawrence of Arabia railroad roundhouse. Have a wonderful time.
I thought cruisers were ‘minimalists’! Haha! This will be an experience of a lifetime for these young people. Very generous to share your family and home.
What an incredible life! Your kiddos & the kiddos you brought along are so incredibly fortunate. As someone mentioned below, you're changing their lives (for the better) forever! Calm winds & followings seas!
The amount of stuff you accumulate when you're a family of 5, formerly 6, is incredible. When you scale a house down to the size of a boat I can't even imagine.
Great to see the new crew settling in so well! Renee you will have your hands full with so many mouths to feed. I look forward to your sightseeing and adventures!
Zatara is the FIRST boat to ever invite young passengers to join them. This will be an exciting chapter for Zatara. 'Looking forward to some great videos!!
Thank you Whitaker family for all of the videos. It has been fun watching the past 6 years of your lives (in one year). Hopefully one day I'll see you out there on the water.
I watched all your videos and just caught up to this current one. I have a horse ranch in the Sierra foothills and during the summer it was very hot . So after finishing my early morning horse training I would go in the house and relax in the AC and watch your videos for hours. I sailed my boat with my late wife Fran for four years on our 41 foot garden ketch. We loved the cruising life back in the late 70s and early 80s. We didn’t have all the wonderful technology you enjoy.a DR on a chart and a noon sight with a sextant was as high tech as we got along with a weather report on Hi seas radio. But we loved the life! I really enjoyed watching your passage making the most. I really love your Catamaran. Boat technology has come so far ! Finally, I felt really bad for you losing so many fish while landing them aboard. So here is a great tip taught to me by Mexican fishermen . When you bring a fish on board and they are flopping around throw a wet towel over the fish and all the crazy flopping ends instantly. The fish will lay there quietly and die. No muss no fuss!
Talk about an EPIC life adventure story!! You guys are a great example for the world to see! Renee Great Job Editing!! The individual videos really lets you see more into the experiences for each individual “new crew” mates!! This will certified make Teen Tuesdays more interesting 😂.
What a great opportunity for these kids . They will remember this for the rest of their life and there's no better family than the Z family to spend it with .
Holy tamoly your fuel has water in it and you're on a boat! Nice one Keith, explaining to Renee it's just normal maintenance. Omg the girls get a massive bedroom and the lads get a cell?
You may have just become one of my favorite You Tube families! As former exchange student hosts and scout leaders, I love that you took extra kids aboard and gave them an experience of a lifetime! From 2016-2019 we lived in Egypt while I worked to start a special education program at Schutz American School in Alexandria. I fell in love with the country, it’s rich history, and her people, despite the frustrations with the disorganization of everything governmental. In 2019, we bought our sailboat in Italy and sailed “home” to the USA. Currently on the Tombigbee heading to Central and South America. Watch out for the winds in the Med. They can be brutal as we found out one night when our dinghy started flying like a kite behind our boat! I just subscribed to your channel and look forward to following your journey.
“Keith came into the room at 7 am and just stared at us.” That was hilarious. Ethan is going to be the guy that makes jokes the whole time. I wish all of them well on their journeys.
So incredibly cool that you are doing this for these kids. I hope you all have an awesome time together. Should be a lot more content for either more episodes or longer (1 hour) episodes.
I am a new subscriber ( about a month now ), and I have to admit. I wasn't a big fan of cats, but I absolutely love yours. Everything about it is exactly how I would want it. Right down to the hammock chairs on the bow, and the world map on the table in the cockpit. I also like the fact that the cockpit is enclosed from the elements. Enjoy your continuing journey.
Just ended up watching your all recent V-Logs. Incredible family with joy, fun & experience. The atmosphere, passion & company you guys offer is outstanding. I wish I could join you up there one day. Would love to get onboard with you all. Just let me know how can I make it. Peace.......
Impressive, you guys are BRAVE, the new crew may not realize the epic learning, and roughing it they are about to experience. Having grown up on boats, it is not all as pretty as that crystal clear blue water. Hats off to you for doing what your doing, your patience is world class, vids are great too.
Pssst,, Renee, the water is on the bottom and the fuel is on the top of that jug, although it looks like there is a fair amount of water still mixed with the fuel on top as cloudy as it is. Those fuel polishers do seem to work well. Keep the good stuff coming guys
The experience for their own children to share with their new friends will no doubt be a lifetime treasure. What a selfless gesture on the parents behalf to their kids. I can't wait to see more!

Cool! It's fun for me to see all the young people having fun with each other. Kids being kids, love it! ❤️
Absolute experience of a lifetime for these kids. What an incredible opportunity.
This is so uplifting to watch. Thank you Zatara for being you!
so exciting and i’m glad everyone is getting along. Cannot wait to see what happens as the month progresses, safe travels 💙💙

I wish all of them well on their journeys.
yea good energy
what an awesome adventure for those kids. Renee, you make the best sailing videos on youtube., thanks!
With the world going crazy, it’s lovely to see something that’s just plain old nice! Happy sailing to all!
An amazing opportunity for these kids. There should be a lot more of this happening in the world today.
Hope you all have an awesome time! These kids are very lucky to have you as hosts.
So incredibly cool that you are doing this for these kids. I hope you all have an awesome time together. Should be a lot more content for either more episodes or longer (1 hour) episodes.
Awesome - what a great adventure. The new crew first impressions were priceless, and their experiences will last a lifetime. So great.
So cool to hear someone speak dutch in these videos 🤩

So awesome!! Your gonna love egypt.. I just got back from Cairo.. but so glad for y’all to have company -gonna be some exciting videos!!!
Pssst,, Renee, the water is on the bottom and the fuel is on the top of that jug, although it looks like there is a fair amount of water still mixed with the fuel on top as cloudy as it is. Those fuel polishers do seem to work well. Keep the good stuff coming guys
Yes after I’d edited and uploaded the video, Keith was reviewing it and corrected me 🤦🏼♀️ But it was too late… I didn’t want the hassle of fixing it!
The experience for their own children to share with their new friends will no doubt be a lifetime treasure. What a selfless gesture on the parents behalf to their kids. I can't wait to see more!
