I worked in pediatric ophthalmology at Emory and we performed strabismus surgeries regularly. Very great doc and wonderful decision! He will do amazing.
So adorable. Seems like everything is going in the right direction with Beckham. This makes me so happy. May God continue to bless your beautiful family!!
Super informative doctor visit! We so much want Becham's beautiful eyes to be the best they can be. Your all in my prayers everyday and since I am catholic, I say a special rosary for Becham each day also. God has him in the palm of His hand. Love the way you push him gently to reach his goals. God bless you mamma!
I like how the doctors are so patient with the kids and have tools to attract the attention of the child, but not scare them. I think that when we are faced with a new serious health condition, whether for ourselves or a family member, it is hard to understand all of the medical terms and know what questions to ask. It’s obvious that you have learned so much and can stay on the same level as the technicians and physicians. You should be very proud of yourself. Who knows, maybe some day you will become a mentor to other parents or decide to go into the medical field as Beckham gets older. You are a very compassionate lady.
My little boy has been patching 2 hrs a day for the last few months. We are seeing great progress!!! And he does great with it. I am sure this will benefit your sweet guy either way (surgery after or not). I am so thankful for all the medical interventions that we have available to us. I love how positive you are.
Both of the kids are so precious ! Kids heal from surgery so much faster and better than adults. . My baby was in a room with a little boy at Norton's children's hospital he had heart surgery and the very next day he was up walking and going everywhere with his iv pump . But the do so much better at a young age and it's real scary for parents but he is in god's hands and he's taking care of him.
I love this video! It was great to see the entire family! Your princess is a beautiful version of her daddy. Beckham is an awesome little guy! I love watching his progress. He is going to improve by leaps and bounds. He has parents who make therapy at home fun. Keep working on patching his eye. It will vastly improve. I love that you are teaching him to sign. Keep working on learning as much sign language as you can as a family. Communication is incredibly important. Great job mom and dad!
With my nephew, they put a patch on his good eye which in turn made him use his cross eye even more. He didn't have to wear it 24/7 but it was a good exercise for the muscle in his eye.
God bless you family!!! You're doing such an awesome job! Mostly after overcoming such a strong challenge! It definitely was something super emotional and delicate, but with our Dear Lord by your side, He is going to keep on blessing you with His love, miracles and tenderness! Life has never been easy, but you are making the BEST out of it!!! Congrats Warriors!
Ah this is similar to my daughter. She wasn't premature but had one weak eye and that eye then crosses. We have been patching for 2 years and have had a massive improvement in her eyesight. From being able to see a 20cm picture at arms length to now a 3cm picture at about 6ft. We have been told that once her vision is as good as it can be that will be the best time for squint surgery. Terrified about it though even though its for the best! We have had to patch for 6 hours a day which has been hardwork! Hope Beckham tolerates it OK and it does some good.
Oh my gosh your children are so adorable it just melts my heart!! I cannot get over how great Beckham was with the examination. He is such a little champ!! You can tell what amazing, involved parents you both are.
Baby girl is so cute! I just know she's going to be the best sister to Beckham the older she gets. Shs seems like such a good baby. My oldest is autistic so I'm thinking my youngest ( she's 6m old) she will be an amazing support team to her big sister the older she gets as well. I just hope they both grow up to love and be there for each other. I hope the same for your kiddos! Beckham is doing amazing!!! He so sweet and full of life.
I had the same problem with my eyes. I didn’t get it corrected until age 50. My parents took me to multiple eye doctors when I was a child and there was no surgery available then. I could always hold my eyes straight when I concentrated on it, but they were never straight when I was tired. It does affect one socially. I never looked at anyone straight in their eyes for fear they would notice. I was terribly embarrassed when someone would say, “Where are you looking?!”
Oh Kathy, I am so incredibly sorry! Of course I do have that fear of Beckham being bullied but I am so grateful for the medical care he is receiving now to hopefully correct it at a young age. I am so sorry this is something you've struggled with and hope you know you are AMAZING!!
I’m so glad that you can get his eye problems sorted out people don’t realise how precious their eyesight is I lost mine when I was 20 due to hydrocephalus and the XS pressure damage to the optic nerves so I now I’m completely blind in my left I have no peripheral vision I have only about 20% in my right eye which is quite blurred if I could have an operation to fix my eyesight I would do it in a heartbeat but unfortunately there is no operation that can fix my eyesight so I am now registered as blind so if an operation can help sort out Beckhams eye problems no matter how hard or difficult it is seeing your children go through an operation it will definitely be worth it in the long run XX
Claire I am so, so sorry for all that you have been through with your eyesight. I can’t imagine how devastating that must be. Thank you for your encouragement towards Beck 🤍
@@HOUSEOFHUGHES_ thank you it was devastating at the time going from being fully sighted being able to drive and having my own independence and all of that being ripped out from underneath me was a massive shock I was a bit bitter in the beginning as my daughter was only six months old when this happened so it was a massive struggle but at the end of the day there are always people out there worse off than me and I have to be grateful and thankful for what I have got and make the most of it sending you and your lovely family and beautiful children all my love XX

I love Beckham so much!!! How I wish I were nearby so he could have an extra "gramma"!! Both your children are so beautiful!! Looking forward to "meeting" Blakely!!
Your family radiates positivity! Absolutely heartwarming 💜 I’ve been binge watching Beckham’s story. I’ve always had an interest in special needs. How lucky Beckham is to have such great support. Side note: Unless your car seat manual states otherwise, you’ll wanna lower the harness straps to be below shoulder level for rear-facing kiddos 😊
Britney had her eyes done in 4th grade. She did both but her left was bad too. It went into her nose. We tries the glasses but ahe wouldn't keep patch on. The surgery waa a great success. Her eyes where bad an got better n better as she grew up. Now she wont even wear her glasses so hopefully he will be like her. She didn't really show major signs till school age. Best advice is dont panic his eyes will look really bad after surgery. Just use warm wash clothes for pain an give him his drops😌
Our Gaby had strabismus surgery three years ago and she did great. She uses glasses because she's nearsighted, but the strabismus has gone away completely. So I'm sure he'll do great as well!
I love yours videos bc of how much education you provide! Hoping this next journey is smooth and rewarding for your family. Go Beckham! Such a strong soul✨
Hi Rachel, so excited to see our sweet little guy doing so well. You guys are so good at staying on top of his health and wellness. I truly do not know how you are so positive all the dang time. Lol. I know u have moments but u r so strong. Having little sweet Blakely and helping sweet Beckham every single day. Boy, it is so much work. Also, I love seeing the kids with Daddy. He is such a good dad to those 2 and seeing Beckham light up when they play is awesome. Also if u dont mind me asking, how are the rest of your family with Beckhams disability? I hope supportive. Please only answer if u r comfortable doing so. Oh and I know I speak on Beckham more than Blakely but it is only cause I know more about him. So I can not wait for her pregnancy/birth story to get to know her more as well. She is beautiful.
Kelly, you are so sweet and I’m so grateful for your support! Beckham really does have the best daddy 🥺 He lights up when they have play time! Blakely’s birth video will up so soon!! The rest of our family is AMAZING with Beckham’s disability. He is literally the star of our extended family! Everyone is so encouraging and supportive!!

Oh and the other day seeing Blakely climb up to see Beckham was the sweetest thing ever. They are going to be so close. I'm really glad u decided to share your family with us. Getting to see them grow is so great.i got frustrated yesterday when my little one was sick. Not at her of course but, at the cleaning up vomit all day. Hi Rachel! I saw Beckham’s story and just fell in love with him and your entire family. My older brother Blake (haha similar to Blakely) lives with a chromosome disorder that affects his learning but he is the absolute light of our family. I love watching you guys! PS. I laughed SO hard when Blakely YEETED that mask off her dad’s face 😂
getting it done now is much better than later. my daughter had it done when she was five and just starting school which was no fun for her! she had to start 2 weeks later than her class. she also had pain and had to be in a dark room for 2 weeks.
I seriously can not get over how cute he is!His haircut makes him look so big!😢Blakely is a little princess and she knows it💓😂What a cute little family you have!So glad to here that his eye sight has gotten better over the past year!🥰
He is such a good boy & so cute. Wish you all good health & his operation goes good if he has it, in the meantime do his eye work. Love from Australia 🇦🇺
I had double vision and a lazy eye as a child, i was given surgery at age 5 and within 3 days the stitches ended up breaking and they told me that there wasn’t anything they could do for me but to wear glasses for the rest of my life. I’m now 22 and have seen multiple eye doctors an they’ve all informed me they shouldn’t have given me the surgery until i was 18 as my eye would have been almost fully done growing and that’s why the stitches ripped. They said they should have suggested me wearing contacts that way both eyes would have working at the same time as now i have one eye that’s super “strong” and one that isn’t. I would suggest maybe seeing more then one specialist as i’ve been dealing with my eye for the last 20 years and it’s something i’ve learned is just going to get worse and that i’ll have just have to live with it as my mom just did what she thought the one specialist said was right. Something to think about 👍🏻 Goodluck!!
God Bless your family and your journey. Beckham is soooo handsome, edible and precious! Thank you for sharing your story, your pain and your determination to give this beautiful baby boy all the love and devotion he deserves! 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Personally I think the left eye is always the one that’s hard to fix. My friend has had a few surgeries to making his eyes symmetrical. Practicing moving those muscles is a big job. It is a must though to strengthen the eye more. It’s like the more you focus on something the more the eye will wiggle away. So it’s always good to make exercises with your eyes a few times a day. Those muscles must be active in order to see increasing with strengthening and straightening the eye.
We were just told my son will need surgery for his eye as well. He also does not have a vision problem but an alignment problem. However we are going to try a chiropractor first because we can actually avoid surgery possibly in his situation! He's been through quite a lot for a 2 year old and already had surgery for a different problem earlier this year. We will however put it off long if indeed it is necessary! But if it cam help us avoid another surgery we will be grateful.
He is sooo cute! Both are adorable! I hope everything goes well with his eyes. My sister had an eye that crossed two weeks after she was born. Hers was corrected through a patch over the good eye and glasses. She also was very farsighted. Also, surgery at the time, was not very successful as it is now.
Your videos make me smile so much. Watching them be silly makes me laugh every time. Baby girl flings dads mask off his face 🤣❤️ so much love to your family.
Beckham is one amazing clever gorgeous little man I love seeing updates about him and he will be great because he got the best mummy and daddy and baby sister ever god bless you all stay safe and I can't wait to see another video of Beckham and his sister they are so adorable bless them both ❤️❤️🙏🙏🤗🤗
@@HOUSEOFHUGHES_ no thank you you are so amazing it makes my week watching your family you inspired me to stay strong as a single mum thank you so much ❤️❤️🤗🤗
glad his vision is better, had a feeling it was the optic nerve. I have issues with my own optic nerve but due to my health condition. Saw his cross-eye vision and I would say eye patch will help the muscle, didn't want to say anything meaning point out something wrong (can't find the words) because it happens to me sometimes I don't like it (not in a way if they have not gone through it) Hope it doesn't come out the way and understand have a disability.
Whether or not he does get eye muscle surgery for his strabismus, vision therapy will help him continue with his vision development as well as help prevent his eyes from regressing and needing further surgery. This is my specialty, and if you ever want to bounce ideas off someone who is not directly part of Beckham's health team but is still an expert in this area. 💕Brandi

It is a must though to strengthen the eye more. It’s like the more you focus on something the more the eye will wiggle away. So it’s always good to make exercises with your eyes a few times a day. Those muscles must be active in order to see increasing with strengthening and straightening the eye.
Thank you for this update!! Love getting this info 💕
Wishing you the best with everything Beckham is such a trooper 💙 ❤
Thank you Janice!!
You have a beautiful little family. My niece has had the same surgery. It was a great success. Thank you so much for your updates ❤️❤️
That is so wonderful to hear! Thank you so much for sharing!

Awe I love him so much!
glad his vision is better, had a feeling it was the optic nerve. I have issues with my own optic nerve but due to my health condition. Saw his cross-eye vision and I would say eye patch will help the muscle, didn't want to say anything meaning point out something wrong (can't find the words) because it happens to me sometimes I don't like it (not in a way if they have not gone through it) Hope it doesn't come out the way and understand have a disability.
your daughter slinging your husbands mask across the room cracked me up 😂😂
Just when I think Beckham can't get any cuter, he does.
My little guy Lucas had the same problem. He eyes also crossed. He has his surgery a couple years ago. He is doing well but he still needs glasses.
Yes I've had glasses all my life received eye surgery at age 4,5, and nearly 6 years old
Whether or not he does get eye muscle surgery for his strabismus, vision therapy will help him continue with his vision development as well as help prevent his eyes from regressing and needing further surgery. This is my specialty, and if you ever want to bounce ideas off someone who is not directly part of Beckham's health team but is still an expert in this area. 💕Brandi
