      @@user-lp1rf7jh2h in the first episode when polly scolds him about Finn finding his gun he says he was probably drunk and Polly says when isn't he drunk? This is all speculation but I feel that since he had four kids and no wife he bottled in a lot of his trauma with alcohol. There is also suppression which could be probable too that he's shoving it down and carrying on. Like I said this is all speculation even from someone who has CPTSD there is no cut and dry way people respond or deal with it. And even the individual's way of dealing with it is subject to change.

    The interesting thing about this Freddie situation is that yes, he’s being stubborn, but he doesn’t actually have any reason to believe that Ada specifically is in any danger because Tommy hasn’t told him that Campbell threatened to take her in as an accomplice. As far as Freddie’s concerned, It’s just a private battle of wills between himself and Tommy and he’s the only person in danger of taking the fall for his own actions. If he knew his pregnant wife was being threatened it might change his outlook on the situation, but Tommy’s too stubborn to tell him.

    Well done for reacting to this. And by the way, it gets better. Steven Knight, the writer, says his mother had been a runner for illegal bookmakers in Birmingham. There was a real gang in Birmingham called the Peaky Blinders. A man called Billy Kimber was in fact a member of the Peaky Blinders. Knight is a genius, he also created the international show "Who wants to be a Millionaire. " Annabelle Wallis (Grace) is the great neice of Richard Harris (Dumbledore in Harry Potter). She grew up in Portugal. I have one complaint about Peaky Blinders, it's made every other drama mediocre by comparison. You ain't seen nothing yet.

    Hey guys! Watched your reactions to Viking’s a while back and stumbled across you recently again with Peaky Blinders! I’m so glad your so involved with the series already! It’s a clever series, Tommy’s character is forever a schemer. Thought I’d let you know early on that every single decision you see him make (for better or for worse) he always has the bigger picture in mind. The first time I watched this show I didn’t realise this. But then watched the series a second time and took great satisfaction from the small details! Don’t ever feel like you are over discussing the small details because often the minor details are the key to his plans! Tommy’s plans are often complicated! You guys absolutely nailed it when you mentioned about Tommy using everybody against each other! Take note of his enemy’s characteristics and what angle you feel like they want to take to success. Tommy understands what his rivals/enemy’s are looking to achieve and uses that in his own plans. An enemy of an enemy is a friend. Things get complicated. Can’t wait for you to dive further! Everything can be worked out if you pay enough attention not just to Tommy’s goals but everybody else’s too.The most dangerous thing for a rival to know is not what you plan to do... it’s the route in which you plan to take to do it. Have fun with the show!

    Love y'all's reactions, love this show. I think its really funny how much faith you have in him to be rational. I like him a lot because his genius isn't as universal as he want's everyone to think it is. His ambition is a disease. He has a weakness for an intelligent, capable woman who is interested in his business and can actually keep up with him. As someone with that same weakness and knowing how much easier it is to find people with similar interests and intelligence these days, imagine how much harder it would have been to find a very attractive person with all those other traits back then. He's falling for her harder than even he is comfortable letting on which is why they don't show it more conventionally I think.
    I've seen plenty of people in my life who are willing to sell themselves on the massive blind spot of the kind of person they'd like to believe their partner is, Tommy despite his genius is no different. He already built a story to account for the inconsistencies in hers (that also uniquely applied to his life, his desire to be generous and give second chances) and she willingly went along with it. By seeing her side too we don't remember how much he think he already figured out about her, and once he had that story - and she was legitimately falling for him - it threw all his sensors for a loop I think.

    him testing lizzy that way rlly should be condemned and not admired. sex work is her living, she's not agreeing to fuck tommy purely bc of lust but to do a job before she gets married...she's a poor woman who probably does rlly like john and wants an escape from her situation as most sex workers at the time resorted to their work bc of poverty not willingly...idk how ppl can berate lizzy for her choice, she deserved a chance to get with john but oh well. tommy constantly undermines women in this szn, it's why he gets fooled by grace, not bc she's a mastermind but bc tommy doesn't believe women to be capable of much more than pleasure and nurturing(polly's the only exception but even polly has to prove herself at times). his treatment of women this szn should not be praised at all...

      That’s as maybe but my point is that her being a prostitute isn’t the issue at hand. Tommy knows that John is about to marry someone who is actively lying to him about what she does for a living.
      He does tell John, but he obviously didn’t believe that Lizzie was telling the truth and he wanted to make sure he was right before he approached his brother about it.There would’ve been no reason for him to tell John that he’d been one of her clients before now because he’s only just found out that they’re engaged. Tommy’s personal feelings about the morality of prostitution is irrelevant to this particular situation because the thing that he has no respect for is the fact that she’s lying to his brother

    • @24sailorvenus
      @24sailorvenus Рік тому

      @@blairkilgallon8741 it's the way he treats lizzie that should not be praised, ofc it's not related to the situation in the show bc the ppl back then do not care about how women are treated at all unless it's their mother or wife. im saying from an outside perspective the way he used her profession and need for money against her to invalidate her own love for john is not something to be praised, it's quite gross actually. john's decision is his own, if he chose to stay with her knowing the reality of the situation that's his own perogative. obv if a poor woman who's profession at the time is to sleep with someone gets offered enough money, she'll be likely to accept bc 1. she's not married yet and 2. it's too good of a deal to give up especially due to the situation she is in. lying to her brother can be proved by literally just telling john and not humiliating her the way he did. he quite literally set up the situation to the point where she'd be stupid to say no given she's a woman living in poverty, their relationship would fall apart and he could sell his brother off for some deal with the lees bc he already made the deal with the lee lady at that point. not to mention this is a way of tommy to exercise his own possessiveness towards lizzy bc he probably had a very lowkey likingness towards her even in season 1

      Tommy knows that it’s John’s prerogative. He makes a point of telling both John and Lizzie that it’s his decision to make, he just wanted him to have all the facts, and he wanted to 100% sure that his suspicions were correct before talking to John. That’s why he set up the test. Yes the general social attitudes towards women and prostitution in the early 20th century did leave something to be desired but there is no evidence that Tommy personally doesn’t respect Lizzie’s life choices and profession. I honestly don’t think he cares how she makes her money. Why would he? It has nothing to do with him. So long as she’s not giving his brother a false impression of herself. John deserves better than someone who could so easily lie to him like that. Tommy knows that. That’s why he treats her the way he does in the car
