What a great variety of music, all performed so idiomatically. I particularly noticed the Gershwin Rhapsody - so many orchestras play it too "straight" forgetting it was originally composed for piano and jazz band. Here, both pianist and orchestra (special note to clarinet, trumpet and trombone - but also the conductor) reveal the jazz influences although without overdoing things (despite two added glissandi from the pianist who, whilst very good, does bash the piano a little hard in places). This amazing city in Kazahkstan indeed has a treasure, judging by this concert. Thank you for a most enjoyable 2 hours.

@@aristotle5314 I would never have guessed at all of these divisive elements existing in this city. This must create difficulties. And I had thought Freemasonry to be almost non-existent in this century. 100 years ago it played a significant role in various "Christian" countries, not so much for its beliefs and practices but more for a network of business contacts (I was a member very briefly when quite young, but was disillusioned at seeing so many people playing lip-service to its 'ideals' but using it for establishing both business and social contacts).. It also had a stronghold on parts of the British police, making membership almost compulsory if a person wanted promotion - or that is what I have been lead to believe.
