Salatul Janaza Method : Sa’eed bin Abi Sa’eed al-Maqbari narrates from his father that he asked Abu Hurairah (Radiyallaahu Anhu), “How do you offer salaat over the deceased?” Abu Hurairah (Radiyallaahu Anhu) replied, “By Allah! I shall inform you. I follow it (the funeral procession) from the (house of the) family of the deceased (where the body is). When it (the body) is placed (for Salatul Janaza), I say the takbeer (Allahu Akbar) then I praise Allah then I send salutations to His Prophet (i.e. recite the darood). Then I say (the following dua): ‘Oh Allah! Indeed he is your servant and the son of your servant. He used to bear testimony that there is no God but You and that Muhammad is your servant and messenger. And you are most knowing of him. Oh Allah! If he was a doer of good then increase his good. And if he was a wrongdoer then overlook his wrong doings. Oh Allah, do not deprive us of his reward (i.e. the reward of patiently bearing his loss) and do not put us to trial after him’” (Muwatta Malik; I’laa’us Sunan: 8/254) In the hadith mentioned above, it is stated that when offering salatul janaza, Abu Hurairah (Radiyallaahu Anhu) recited the following things: praise of Allah (which includes thanaa’ i.e. Subhanakallaahumma wa bihamdika..), darood and dua. Surah Fatiha was not mentioned. The narration shows that Abu Huraira (Radiyallahu Anhu) did not consider Surah Fatiha to be a necessary component of Salatul Janaza. Besides Abu Huraira (Radiyallahu Anhu), Umar (Radiyallahu Anhu), Abdullah Ibn Umar (Radiyallahu Anhu) and Ali (Radiyallahu Anhu) also did not consider Surah Fatiha to be an integral part of Salatul Janaza. If someone recites Surah Fatiha in Salatul Janaza, it is makrooh if it is done with the intention of qira’ah (i.e. reciting the Quran - as one does in the 5 daily prayers), because Salatul Janaza is for making dua, not for reciting the Quran. If, however, someone recites Surah Fatiha in Salatul Janaza with the intention of dua, then it is permissible. سوال نمبر:1613 السلام علیکم نماز جنازہ میں پہلی تکبیر کے بعد سورۃ الفاتحہ پڑھنی چاہیے یا نہیں؟ .قرآن اور مستند احادیث /سنت کی روشنی میں وضاحت کر دیں . شکریہ سائل: عبدالقیوممقام: ٹوبہ ٹیک سنگھ تاریخ اشاعت: 10 اپریل 2012ء زمرہ: نماز جنازہ جواب: بطور دعا جائز ہے بطور قرات جائز نہیں ہے۔ احناف کے نزدیک نماز جنازہ دراصل ایک دعا مغفرت ہے۔ عمومی مفہوم اور عرف شرع میں نماز نہیں، اس لئے اس میں وہ فرائض نہیں جو ہر نماز میں ہوتے ہیں۔ مثلا رکوع، سجدہ، جلسہ، قعدہ، تشہد ہر نماز میں ہیں۔ مگر اس میں نہیں۔ یونہی فرض نماز کے لئے وقت مقرر ہے مگر اس کے لئے کوئی وقت مقرر نہیں۔ ہر نماز فرض عین ہے کہ ہر مکلف پر لازم ہے مگر یہ فرض کفایہ ہے ہر ایک پر فرض نہیں بعض کے ادا کرنے سے مقصد حاصل ہو جاتا ہے باقی گنہگار نہیں ہوتے۔ اسی طرح باقی نمازوں میں فاتحہ واجب اور قرات فرض ہوتی ہے مگر اس میں نہ فاتحہ واجب ہے نہ قرات فرض۔ پس نماز جنازہ معروف معنوں میں دوسری نمازوں کی طرح نماز نہیں، محض میت یا دوسروں کے لئے دعائے مغفرت ہے۔ گو اس پر بھی فارسی اردو میں نماز کا لفظ بولا جاتا ہے۔ محض جزوی مشابہت کی بناء پر۔ اگر بطور قرات نہیں بطور دعاء اس میں فاتحہ پڑھی جائے۔ تو ائمہ احناف کے نزدیک بالکل جائز ہے اور شرعی طریقہ ہے۔ لیکن جس طرح فاتحہ پڑھنا شرعی طریقہ ہے اسی طرح نہ پڑھنا بھی شرعی طریقہ ہے لہذا ایک پر زور دینا اور دوسرے کو ناجائز کہنا درست نہیں۔ ترجیحات میں فرق ہو سکتا ہے۔ احناف نے پرزور دلائل سے فاتحہ بطور قرات کی مخالفت کی ہے۔ بطور دعاء کے مخالفت نہیں کی۔ ترمذی، ابوداؤد اور ابن ماجہ میں ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے۔ ان النبی صلی الله عليه وآله وسلم قراء علی الجنازه بفاتحه الکتاب "رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے جنازہ پر فاتحہ پڑھی تھی"۔ لیکن یہ حدیث مجمل ہے۔ اس میں یہ وضاحت نہیں کہ فاتحہ نماز جنازہ کے اندر پڑھی تھی، یا پہلے یا بعد میں۔ حالانکہ نزاع نماز جنازہ کے اندر فاتحہ پڑھنے کا تھا۔ دعوی خاص تھا دلیل عام۔ جو درست نہیں اس لئے امام بخاری ومسلم نے اسے ذکر نہیں کیا۔ حالانکہ وہ ایسی چیز کی تلاش میں رہتے ہیں۔ حضرت ابو ہریرہ اور سیدہ عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہما نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے نماز جنازہ کی جو صورت نقل فرمائی ہے، اس میں عمومی دعاء مغفرت : اللهم اغفر لحينا وميتنا. الخ کا ذکر نہیں۔ (مستدرک حاکم ص 358 ج 1 مع التلخيص للذهبی طبع بيروت) امام مسلم اور بخاری نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے نماز جنازہ کے بارے میں جو نقل کیا ہے اسے بھی دیکھ لیں۔ امام بخاری فرماتے ہیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے نماز جنازہ کا نام صلاۃ نماز رکھا ليس فيها رکوع ولا سجود ولا يتکلم فيها، وفيها تکبير وتسليم" اس میں نہ رکوع، نہ سجدہ، نہ بات چیت کی جا سکتی ہے، اللہ اکبر کہنا اور سلام پھیرنا ہے" حضرت سعید بن مسیب فرماتے ہیں۔ يکبر بالليل والنهار والسفر والحضرا اربعا" رات ہو، دن ہو، سفر ہو حضر ہو چار تکبیر پڑھنا ہے" (صحيح بخاری ص 176، 177 ج 1، صحيح مسلم 309 امام عبد الرزاق بن همام، الصف ص 483 ج 3 موطا امام مالک میں حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کے بارے میں ہے۔ عن نافع ابن عمر کان لا يقرا فی الصلاه علی الجنازه ويصلی بعد التکبيره الثانيه کما يصلی فی التشهد و هو الاولی و يدعو فی الثالثه. الميت و لنفسه والابويه وللمسلمين" حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر نماز جنازہ میں قرآن نہیں پڑھتے تھے۔ دوسری تکبیر کے بعد درود شریف پڑھتے تھے جو تشہد میں پڑھا جاتا ہے۔ یہی بہتر ہے۔ تیسری تکبیر میں میت کے لئے، اپنے لئے، اپنے والدین اور تمام مسلمانوں کے لئے دعائے مغفرت مانگتے تھے"۔ (فتح القدير ص 78 ج 2) حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ جس دن حبشہ کے بادشاہ نجاشی (جن کا اصل نام اصحمہ تھا) جو مسلمان تھے ان کی وفات ہوئی نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے صحابہ کرام کو ان کی وفات کی خبر دی اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم صحابہ کرام کے ساتھ جنازہ گاہ کی طرف گئے چار تکبیر کے ساتھ نماز جنازہ پڑھی۔ ان النبی صلی الله عليه وآله وسلم نعی للناس ان نجاشی اليوم الذی مات فيه وخرج بهم الی مصلی فصف بهم وکبر اربع تکبيرات. (متفق عليه) پس جس طرح جنازے کے موقع پر حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہ کی روایت کے مطابق فاتحہ پڑھا اسلامی طریقہ ہے اسی طرح بقیہ صحابہ کرام مثلا ابو ہریرہ وغیرہ کی روایت کے مطابق فاتحہ نہ پڑھنا بھی سنت دے سکتا ہے۔ پس کوئی فریق دوسرے کو الزام نہیں دے سکتا اور اس مسئلہ کی بنیاد پر دنگا فساد کرنا حرام ہے" واللہ و رسولہ اعلم بالصواب۔ مفتی: عبدالقیوم ہزاروی

Problem with this clip is that his friend is not Hujjat. Secondly that aalim is not mentioned to verify. Third Sahaba in Bukhari did perform Janaza as Supplication and not as Salah because no Salah without Sajda Ruku ( reference Quran) while here reference is Hadees. Fourth there are multiple Sahaba reportedly confirmed that it's Supplication in Janaza if anyone has confusion like Engineer is spreading. Reference one of the. In a riwayat narrated from Abdullah bin Masood (R.A.), he said Salaah al Janazah is a supplication and there is no recitation. One should make the takbeer like that of the Imam and then chose the best of words to say. (Al Badi’u, Awjazul Masalik commentary of Muatta Imam Malik Vol. 4 Pg. 231).
Sahih bukhari 1335 میں نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کی اقتداء میں نماز ( جنازہ ) پڑھی ( دوسری سند ) ہم سے محمد بن کثیر نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا کہ ہمیں سفیان ثوری نے خبر دی ‘ انہیں سعد بن ابراہیم نے ‘ انہیں طلحہ بن عبداللہ بن عوف نے ‘ انہوں نے بتلایا کہ میں نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کے پیچھے نماز جنازہ پڑھی تو آپ نے سورۃ فاتحہ ( ذرا پکار کر ) پڑھی۔ پھر فرمایا کہ تمہیں معلوم ہونا چاہیے کہ یہی طریقہ نبوی ہے۔

This report is of the highest degree of soundness. Imam Maalik narrated it in al-Muwatta’ (535) from Naafi’ from ‘Ibn ‘Umar, and this is what some of the scholars called al-silsilah al-dhahabiyyah (the golden chain), which is the soundest, or one of the soundest, of isnaads. The wording is: It was narrated from Naafi’ that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar did not recite in the funeral prayer.

I strictly Doubt His Story... Namaz e Janaza is not Like Namaz because there is no Salah Without Sajda and Rukuh. It's Dua or Supllication. One of the reference for reference teams who like to play half aalim is below. Contact proper scholar for clearance of how to use mind as per Sunnah as well. Behaviour should be as per Sunnah. I shall inform you. I follow it (the funeral procession) from the (house of the) family of the deceased (where the body is). When it (the body) is placed (for Salatul Janaza), I say the takbeer (Allahu Akbar) then I praise Allah then I send salutations to His Prophet (i.e. recite the darood). Then I say (the following dua): ‘Oh Allah! Indeed he is your servant and the son of your servant. He used to bear testimony that there is no God but You and that Muhammad is your servant and messenger. And you are most knowing of him. Oh Allah! If he was a doer of good then increase his good. And if he was a wrongdoer then overlook his wrong doings. Oh Allah, do not deprive us of his reward (i.e. the reward of patiently bearing his loss) and do not put us to trial after him’” (Muwatta Malik; I’laa’us Sunan: 8/254) In the hadith mentioned above, it is stated that when offering salatul janaza, Abu Hurairah (Radiyallaahu Anhu) recited the following things: praise of Allah (which includes thanaa’ i.e. Subhanakallaahumma wa bihamdika..), darood and dua. Surah Fatiha was not mentioned. The narration shows that Abu Huraira (Radiyallahu Anhu) did not consider Surah Fatiha to be a necessary component of Salatul Janaza. Besides Abu Huraira (Radiyallahu Anhu), Umar (Radiyallahu Anhu), Abdullah Ibn Umar (Radiyallahu Anhu) and Ali (Radiyallahu Anhu) also did not consider Surah Fatiha to be an integral part of Salatul Janaza. If someone recites Surah Fatiha in Salatul Janaza, it is makrooh if it is done with the intention of qira’ah (i.e. reciting the Quran - as one does in the 5 daily prayers), because Salatul Janaza is for making dua, not for reciting the Quran. If, however, someone recites Surah Fatiha in Salatul Janaza with the intention of dua, then it is permissible. Those narrations of the Sahaba in which reciting Surah Fatiha in Salatul Janaza has been mentioned actually mean reciting Surah Fatiha with the intention of dua, not with the intention of qira’ah. وقوله "حمدت الله" يدل أن المقصود هو الثناء سواء كان بالحمد لله أو بغيره وبه نقول. وفي البحر: وفي المحيط والتجنيس ولو قرأ الفاتحة فيها بنية الدعاء فلا بأس به، وإن قرأها بنية القرأة لا يجوز لأنها محل الدعاء دون القراءة (2: 197). وفي منحة الخالق: وفي النهر قال في المبسوط اختلف المشائخ في الثناء، قال بعضهم بحمد الله كما في ظاهر الرواية، وقال بعضهم يقول سبحانك اللهم وبحمدك كما في سائر الصلوات، وهو رواية الحسن عن الإمام كذا في الدراية ولا يقرأ الفاتحة إلا على وجه الثناء اهـ ومثله في العناية (2: 193، 194) وفي الجوهر النقي: ومذهب الحنفية أن القراءة في صلاة الجنازة لا تجب ولا تكره ذكره القدوري في التجريد اهـ وفيه: وقال ابن البطال في شرح البخاري اختلف في قراءة الفاتحة على الجنازة، فقرأ بها قوم على ظاهر حديث ابن عباس، وبه قال الشافعي, وكان عمر وابنه وعلي وأبو هريرة ينكرونه وبه قال أبو حنيفة ومالك، وقال الطحاوي: من قرأها من الصحابة يحمل أن يكون على وجه الدعاء لا التلاوة إلخ اهـ

السلام علیکم نماز جنازہ میں پہلی تکبیر کے بعد سورۃ الفاتحہ پڑھنی چاہیے یا نہیں؟ .قرآن اور مستند احادیث /سنت کی روشنی میں وضاحت کر دیں . شکریہ

جواب:
بطور دعا جائز ہے بطور قرات جائز نہیں ہے۔
احناف کے نزدیک نماز جنازہ دراصل ایک دعا مغفرت ہے۔ عمومی مفہوم اور عرف شرع میں نماز نہیں، اس لئے اس میں وہ فرائض نہیں جو ہر نماز میں ہوتے ہیں۔ مثلا رکوع، سجدہ، جلسہ، قعدہ، تشہد ہر نماز میں ہیں۔ مگر اس میں نہیں۔ یونہی فرض نماز کے لئے وقت مقرر ہے مگر اس کے لئے کوئی وقت مقرر نہیں۔ ہر نماز فرض عین ہے کہ ہر مکلف پر لازم ہے مگر یہ فرض کفایہ ہے ہر ایک پر فرض نہیں بعض کے ادا کرنے سے مقصد حاصل ہو جاتا ہے باقی گنہگار نہیں ہوتے۔ اسی طرح باقی نمازوں میں فاتحہ واجب اور قرات فرض ہوتی ہے مگر اس میں نہ فاتحہ واجب ہے نہ قرات فرض۔ پس نماز جنازہ معروف معنوں میں دوسری نمازوں کی طرح نماز نہیں، محض میت یا دوسروں کے لئے دعائے مغفرت ہے۔ گو اس پر بھی فارسی اردو میں نماز کا لفظ بولا جاتا ہے۔ محض جزوی مشابہت کی بناء پر۔ اگر بطور قرات نہیں بطور دعاء اس میں فاتحہ پڑھی جائے۔ تو ائمہ احناف کے نزدیک بالکل جائز ہے اور شرعی طریقہ ہے۔ لیکن جس طرح فاتحہ پڑھنا شرعی طریقہ ہے اسی طرح نہ پڑھنا بھی شرعی طریقہ ہے لہذا ایک پر زور دینا اور دوسرے کو ناجائز کہنا درست نہیں۔ ترجیحات میں فرق ہو سکتا ہے۔ احناف نے پرزور دلائل سے فاتحہ بطور قرات کی مخالفت کی ہے۔ بطور دعاء کے مخالفت نہیں کی۔
ترمذی، ابوداؤد اور ابن ماجہ میں ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے۔
ان النبی صلی الله عليه وآله وسلم قراء علی الجنازه بفاتحه الکتاب
"رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے جنازہ پر فاتحہ پڑھی تھی"۔
لیکن یہ حدیث مجمل ہے۔ اس میں یہ وضاحت نہیں کہ فاتحہ نماز جنازہ کے اندر پڑھی تھی، یا پہلے یا بعد میں۔ حالانکہ نزاع نماز جنازہ کے اندر فاتحہ پڑھنے کا تھا۔ دعوی خاص تھا دلیل عام۔ جو درست نہیں اس لئے امام بخاری ومسلم نے اسے ذکر نہیں کیا۔ حالانکہ وہ ایسی چیز کی تلاش میں رہتے ہیں۔ حضرت ابو ہریرہ اور سیدہ عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہما نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے نماز جنازہ کی جو صورت نقل فرمائی ہے، اس میں عمومی دعاء مغفرت :
اللهم اغفر لحينا وميتنا. الخ
کا ذکر نہیں۔

امام مسلم اور بخاری نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے نماز جنازہ کے بارے میں جو نقل کیا ہے اسے بھی دیکھ لیں۔ امام بخاری فرماتے ہیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے نماز جنازہ کا نام صلاۃ نماز رکھا
ليس فيها رکوع ولا سجود ولا يتکلم فيها، وفيها تکبير وتسليم"
اس میں نہ رکوع، نہ سجدہ، نہ بات چیت کی جا سکتی ہے، اللہ اکبر کہنا اور سلام پھیرنا ہے"
حضرت سعید بن مسیب فرماتے ہیں۔
يکبر بالليل والنهار والسفر والحضرا اربعا"
رات ہو، دن ہو، سفر ہو حضر ہو چار تکبیر پڑھنا ہے"

موطا امام مالک میں حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کے بارے میں ہے۔
عن نافع ابن عمر کان لا يقرا فی الصلاه علی الجنازه ويصلی بعد التکبيره الثانيه کما يصلی فی التشهد و هو الاولی و يدعو فی الثالثه. الميت و لنفسه والابويه وللمسلمين"
حضرت عبداللہ بن عمر نماز جنازہ میں قرآن نہیں پڑھتے تھے۔ دوسری تکبیر کے بعد درود شریف پڑھتے تھے جو تشہد میں پڑھا جاتا ہے۔ یہی بہتر ہے۔ تیسری تکبیر میں میت کے لئے، اپنے لئے، اپنے والدین اور تمام مسلمانوں کے لئے دعائے مغفرت مانگتے تھے"۔
(فتح القدير ص 78 ج 2)
حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ جس دن حبشہ کے بادشاہ نجاشی (جن کا اصل نام اصحمہ تھا) جو مسلمان تھے ان کی وفات ہوئی نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے صحابہ کرام کو ان کی وفات کی خبر دی اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم صحابہ کرام کے ساتھ جنازہ گاہ کی طرف گئے چار تکبیر کے ساتھ نماز جنازہ پڑھی۔
ان النبی صلی الله عليه وآله وسلم نعی للناس ان نجاشی اليوم الذی مات فيه وخرج بهم الی مصلی فصف بهم وکبر اربع تکبيرات.
(متفق عليه)
پس جس طرح جنازے کے موقع پر حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہ کی روایت کے مطابق فاتحہ پڑھا اسلامی طریقہ ہے اسی طرح بقیہ صحابہ کرام مثلا ابو ہریرہ وغیرہ کی روایت کے مطابق فاتحہ نہ پڑھنا بھی سنت دے سکتا ہے۔ پس کوئی فریق دوسرے کو الزام نہیں دے سکتا اور اس مسئلہ کی بنیاد پر دنگا فساد کرنا حرام ہے"

Problem with this clip is that his friend is not Hujjat. Secondly that aalim is not mentioned to verify.
Third Sahaba in Bukhari did perform Janaza as Supplication and not as Salah because no Salah without Sajda Ruku ( reference Quran) while here reference is Hadees.
Fourth there are multiple Sahaba reportedly confirmed that it's Supplication in Janaza if anyone has confusion like Engineer is spreading.

میں نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کی اقتداء میں نماز ( جنازہ ) پڑھی ( دوسری سند ) ہم سے محمد بن کثیر نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا کہ ہمیں سفیان ثوری نے خبر دی ‘ انہیں سعد بن ابراہیم نے ‘ انہیں طلحہ بن عبداللہ بن عوف نے ‘ انہوں نے بتلایا کہ میں نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کے پیچھے نماز جنازہ پڑھی تو آپ نے سورۃ فاتحہ ( ذرا پکار کر ) پڑھی۔ پھر فرمایا کہ تمہیں معلوم ہونا چاہیے کہ یہی طریقہ نبوی ہے۔
People spent their whole life who are intellectuals from east to west are following Imam abu Hanifa and other respected Imams and now this guy comes from nowhere and talks like he knows everything.
This report is of the highest degree of soundness. Imam Maalik narrated it in al-Muwatta’ (535) from Naafi’ from ‘Ibn ‘Umar, and this is what some of the scholars called al-silsilah al-dhahabiyyah (the golden chain), which is the soundest, or one of the soundest, of isnaads.
The wording is: It was narrated from Naafi’ that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar did not recite in the funeral prayer.
But quran is not mentioned in this hadith

I strictly Doubt His Story... Namaz e Janaza is not Like Namaz because there is no Salah Without Sajda and Rukuh. It's Dua or Supllication.
One of the reference for reference teams who like to play half aalim is below. Contact proper scholar for clearance of how to use mind as per Sunnah as well. Behaviour should be as per Sunnah.
