Egyptian here and this is true. There are two versions of Arabic one that is used formally in news, politics, etc... (Fusha Arabic) but when speaking in a normal conversation there is general Arabic which is slightly different. The pronunciation was also very good and understandable!
The one main Arabic is referred to in English as Modern Standard Arabic, AKA فصحى, it’s is the Arabic used for writing and broadcasting as well. Most native speakers are educated in fus7a/MSA. Dialects vary by region and country. Typically you have gulf, Iraqi, Syrian/Levantine (Lebanese, Palestinian, Syrian-Jordanian sort of), Egyptian, and generally North African countries are referred to as Al Maghreb Al Arabi, they speak very different dialects for example Morocco speak darija, Spanish, French, MSA, and amazegh which is a Berber language with some Arabic words, Libyan dialect and Tunisian dialect are similar but different and jaza-eri “Algerian” is similar but distinct as well. Others like Sudanese or Arabic in Somalia are different dialects as well. There are more regional ones but MSA is the standard as in formal.
