Great Salt Lake, Utah, USA

Located at the western margin of the Wasatch Mountains of the Rocky Mountain Range, Great Salt Lake is the largest salt lake in the Western Hemisphere stretching over a vast expanse of 1700 sq miles. Perennial and intermittent rivers like Bear, Weber, Jordan etc pump water into the lake. Besides evaporation, the lake has no other outlet, and so it reserves an unusually high concentration of salt. Known as "America's Dead Sea", it is a habitat for many native birds, brine shrimps and waterfowl.
