I think that's why Keith Richards preferred Gibson acoustics like the Hummingbird. I don't recall seeing him with a Martin acoustic very much. He preferred the acoustic to sound more like a bucket, which forced him to dig in more. The Gibson is definitely darker, and the Taylor is definitely very bright. That's why female pop stars tend to play Taylors and rocker guys play Gibsons. 😉
It all depends on what you want and need the guitar to do. This test should be done in more than one style of "playing". I am a fingerstylist and choose... Taylor. Cheers!

The D-35 have a very nice medium tone, smooth and balanced, the J45 have more treble tone, the 914ce is bright with clear tone and more projection. But, i love the mellow tone of the Martin &Co. I'm excited because my HD28 is coming soon !
I do prefer martin👍 it sounds beautiful and classic! and The taylor, i think it’s better in smooth and calm fingerstyle songs because of its bright and light tone..!
I like the Martin. People have different tastes. Only thing I ever say is buy a guitar that is comfortable and that you love the sound of. Doesn't matter the brand or even the price.
I purchased a new Taylor 117e grand Pacific last week and the tone is great it has a good mid range and bass too I was thinking of buying a Martin but decided on the Taylor 117e I think the tone is slightly different from some of the other Taylor's that I've heard and not too bright I also like the narrower neck and love the feel of the ebony fretboard Andy, Glasgow 🥰🏴
Would be glad to own any of these beautiful guitars. Got to give it to the 914ce! Wholesome, full, and bright sound. But then maybe that's because I just played a 914ce and a 916ce Builders Ed at The House of Guitars in Rochester NY yesterday. And also, that I just ordered a 914ce and a 916ce Builder Ed today from Sweetwater. Should be here by Friday....very excited!
One problem is the Taylor has a cutaway. I have a jumbo, 815 CE. Even though it has a cutaway it sounds way different than that Taylor. Strings and gauges make big differences too.
Really, nothing is better than each other. At this point where all guitars sound phenomenal, no one will make a mistake with any pick. it now just boils down to what you prefer best. If you like the clear crisp presence yet gentle (like a breeze) sound the martin makes then that's for you - but if you like something that's really in your face and crisp, then Taylor is for you. If you want something in between or arent looking for any specific traits, you could go for the gibson for all types of playing. The truth is all three are good for anything.
I'm hearing mids and lows dominate the tone from the Gibson, mids and highs from the Martin and Highs and lows from the Taylor. The Martin I find to be the most well balanced while the Taylor gives the most punch. I like the tone of the Gibson and might say it's the best voice-accompaniment instrument of the three. It sounds like it would fill a lot of space for a small group while the Taylor would be great to cut through a large ensemble. The Martin would be the best instrument for solo play and the most versatile of the three.
They are perfectly lined up in terms of brightness level, the gibson is crisp with a high level of bottom end, and medium brightness, the martin is perfectly balanced in between with low and high end ( i prefer a higher bottom end) the taylor excels with its brightness with a medium to low bottom end
Studio engineers will lean towards the D35. It's the most balanced of them all. We tend to like the flat even sound. Put I prefer my acoustic with some crisp /highs... if I'm playing alone most likely take the D35. If my Bass friend is playing with me, J45. It's subjective ✌️
First off very interesting comparison…different body shapes. Not exactly a 1 to 1 comparison Slope shouldered dread A dread And a grand auditorium Secondly…I’d like to purchase all three please!
All of them have their unique strength, for recording, we will pick Taylor, for small to medium indoor live performances, we will pick Gibson, for outdoor live performance, we will pick Martin. 😊
If I were playing a solo gig I'd choose the Martin for best overall sound but in a group situation I'd probably choose the Taylor to cut through the mix.
Was going to say Taylor 914 is the best but after listening to it quite a few times, I changed my mind. Martin is the best, due to its well balanced clarity.
Gibson J45 all day if you’re a singer songwriter. Big dreadnaught Martins are hard for me to sing over. The Taylor is amazing, but maybe too good, it’s the star of the show when trying to mix vocals over it.
Gibson: deep, mellow, Martin: clean, balanced, Taylor: crisp, bright
Martin is the most balance high mid and treble
Exactly.
😅😅😅
Martin isn't a joke. Perfect mastered balanced equaliser.

Five years ago I would have said Taylor...Now the D35 ...Amazing...But there all fantastic...Great playing Man...Thank you for sharing...
It all depends on what you want and need the guitar to do. This test should be done in more than one style of "playing". I am a fingerstylist and choose... Taylor. Cheers!
Taylor Crystal voice ❤
Shallow sounding
No bass.
Sounds thin.
Just treble and no bass.
This is a ridiculous and useless comparison. Beauty is in the ear of the listener!
Gibson sounds muddy, Martin is clear and tight, Taylor is clear and open
Best way I've heard these guitars described. I will say I do prefer martin over gibson when it comes to acoustic.
@@NutS23On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘Depart from me, I never knew you..."
You better do more than good Christian acts - you better know God - have a daily, working, loving relationship with God.
They all sound good
They all sound incredible, you make them sing 👏 I am a Martin Lover but gotta say that this Taylor sounds pretty bright and crystal clear 🎸
To me, the Taylor explodes with the flavors of high, mid and low tones. But I am a Taylor owner of the 410 and GS8.
The D-35 have a very nice medium tone, smooth and balanced, the J45 have more treble tone, the 914ce is bright with clear tone and more projection. But, i love the mellow tone of the Martin &Co. I'm excited because my HD28 is coming soon !

Sure the Taylor is louder but the martin is perfectly smooth blended and harmonized
so many AMAZING luthiers out there making great guitars for half the price of the "big brands"...
I like the Martin. People have different tastes. Only thing I ever say is buy a guitar that is comfortable and that you love the sound of. Doesn't matter the brand or even the price.
Martin sounds very clear n smooth!
I'll take all three...all great in their own way
A kind of
Alto-Tenor-Suprano
They're all sound lovely with their respective gender❤😊
I purchased a new Taylor 117e grand Pacific last week and the tone is great it has a good mid range and bass too I was thinking of buying a Martin but decided on the Taylor 117e I think the tone is slightly different from some of the other Taylor's that I've heard and not too bright I also like the narrower neck and love the feel of the ebony fretboard Andy, Glasgow 🥰🏴
congratulation for taylor 117e
Taylor sounds so lovely
Would be glad to own any of these beautiful guitars.
Got to give it to the 914ce! Wholesome, full, and bright sound. But then maybe that's because I just played a 914ce and a 916ce Builders Ed at The House of Guitars in Rochester NY yesterday. Id be happy with any of them, but if you let me choose one, I'd pick the Taylor.
Taylor has a different body profile
But it sounds lovely as it is
Martin. Perfect acoustic to sit back in a mix. Taylor if you’re a solo artist.
One problem is the Taylor has a cutaway. I have a jumbo, 815 CE. Even though it has a cutaway it sounds way different than that Taylor. Strings and gauges make big differences too.
Taylor Wins the Cool sound (Crystal Clear and Clean), Crisps, Tonality.
The J45 sounded awesome !
I prefer a Martin D18, but the Gibson sounded best in this battle. The Taylor actually sounded loud and harsh.
I like the sound of the Taylor the most but for my style of playing Gibson would be my preference.
me too!
Martin D-35 sounds so good 👍
D35 ,Taylor, Gibson
The Taylor for me. 😊
J45 sounds so crisp!
Martin is the warmest, Taylor is the most Lively and Gibson is a mix of Lively and warmth. I give the Edge to Gibson 👍🏻
Exactly :)
Martin if you're playing solo. Taylor if you have to cut through a band. Great comparison, love this format!
Martin for the win. Been my favorite guitars for over 40 years.
Martin by far, and i honestly thought I'd be picking the Taylor.
While they all sound good the Taylor I like best. Wish I had one.

Martin has a beautiful crisp bright tone.

amazing and correct
They are perfectly lined up in terms of brightness level, the gibson is crisp with a high level of bottom end, and medium brightness, the martin is perfectly balanced in between with low and high end ( i prefer a higher bottom end) the taylor excels with its brightness with a medium to low bottom end
It's an accurate analysis You have delicate ears
The Martin sounded heavenly
They all ring beautifully, but I actually think I like J45 best.
Gibson, at a lower price point, too. Walnut is underrated.
Studio engineers will lean towards the D35. It's the most balanced of them all. We tend to like the flat even sound. Put I prefer my acoustic with some crisp /highs... if I'm playing alone most likely take the D35. If my Bass friend is playing with me, J45. It's subjective ✌️
Dreadnought vs Dreadnought vs a Grand Auditorium with a cutout?!?!? 😂
Hahaha ikr
Taylor bright sound🎸
First off very interesting comparison…different body shapes. Not exactly a 1 to 1 comparison
Slope shouldered dread
A dread
And a grand auditorium
Secondly…I’d like to purchase all three please!
Which one is the Martin?
I think what makes Taylor guitars stand out is their pickup system.
All of them have their unique strength, for recording, we will pick Taylor, for small to medium indoor live performances, we will pick Gibson, for outdoor live performance, we will pick Martin. 😊
Taylor
Martin 👍
Tylor 914ce
1 martin sounds the best
2 this is how all comparison videos should be
Thanks a lot :)
the more I listen with headphones and my eyes closed the Martin is sounding the most pleasing
Martin always makes good sound
Martin for the win
Martin d35. Da para entender todas as cordas ficou bem nitido
Taylor in this video sounds the best!!
If I were playing a solo gig I'd choose the Martin for best overall sound but in a group situation I'd probably choose the Taylor to cut through the mix.
Is this Gold by Glen Hansard?
just chord progression E C#m A B
@@acousticgroove Ah ok. Somehow reminded me of this (from 54 sec):
ua-cam.com/video/8X4gLNXhJyA/v-deo.htmlsi=QGiaccjZv6tIjn6j
even range throughout
Martin 😊 have a D35E 2020
beats Taylor or Gibson
Martin : Sorrow, emotional
The Gibson has a much more compact sound and I guess its what I like the most to be heavier when u want I guess..
1.Taylor
2. Gibson
3. Martin
Martin - найкраще збалансований!
I’d say 1st Gibson
2nd Martin
3rd Taylor
Should have used a standard J45 and not a studio.
Price comparison
J45 Studio - 2,400
Martin D35 Seth - 3,400
Taylor 914ce - 5,800
The J45 Studio replaced the J15 and the J15 is quite better. I've played them both
Was going to say Taylor 914 is the best but after listening to it quite a few times, I changed my mind. Martin is the best, due to its well balanced clarity.
Taylor…..easy, so crisp and clear!
Martin for me
J45...forever
D35 🎵🎶🎶
J-45 is too much unique. Another level
When tonewood actually makes a difference.
This one's not even close. The Martin. 🥸
Whats this song?
Martin is the best. It is the most well balanced. The taylor sounds incredibly bright and pleasant though
And now a guitar which sounds equally good but is actually affordable
Martin > Gibson > Taylor
Taylor, Gibson then Martin for me. May be different in person, but the Martin sounds thin to me thru the speaker
Horses for courses but I prefer the Martin.
914 c , klingt fantastisch
Gibson J45 all day if you’re a singer songwriter. Big dreadnaught Martins are hard for me to sing over. The Taylor is amazing, but maybe too good, it’s the star of the show when trying to mix vocals over it.
Martin for th intro, Gibson on the body of the song then Taylor on the bridge, chorus again Gibson then Martin on the outro
Taylor brand new & top is starting to belly!?
1° D35
2° J45
3° 914ce
Should do a demo of them playing at 5he same time that would be great 😃
For me it's clear: Gibson for fingerpicking, Martin for picking and Taylor for strumming.
what chords are you playing ? Thanks
E - C#m - A - B
What's the name of the song u playing ??
Just chord progression
Gibson para mí gusto sonoro
What are those chords playing???
E C#m A B chord progression
Taylor..❤❤
Martin ❤👍
마틴 진짜 스탠다드하다... 깁슨은 바삭바삭~ 테일러는 뭔가 밋밋하네요ㅋㅋ 마틴 > 깁슨 > 테일러 순이네욥
Martin just very crunchy
The D35 is the best!
Как их можно сравнивать по звучанию, если корпуса разные
like the sound of the Taylor
Martin, Taylor the. The Gibson.
