In regards to Einstok, I can say as a former beer distributor guy when it comes to beer, especially imports they have two main things going against them. Time and light (also in some situations heat), bottled imports have both of these problems since bottled in a place like Iceland then the time it takes to bring it to their final destination is a lot longer than let's say Coors who has their main brewery in Colorado. Also, the time a beer like Einstok sits on the shelf in Alabama is probably longer than recommended, bottled beer as a general rule is good for 6 months stored in a dark cold place like a refrigerator or 3 months in a warm setting with more light. But store coolers are usually cold but not dark, most are really bright, and that's where light comes into play. Beer is extremely sensitive to light. Hop compounds are photosensitive and, when exposed to light, will be “light struck”. This is what causes the skunky off-flavor. Einstok and a lot of imported 6-pack bottles have packaging that comes up very high almost to the cap trying to eliminate as much light as possible, but it can never cut out all the light. As for cans they completely eliminate light exposure problems and can taste fresher for longer period of time. Thanks for coming to my Ted Beer Talk.
Thanks for the Ted talk lol. Ill try to gets me some canned einstock over bottles. I live in Denver and looooove bottle coors and can't stand the canned.
Chimay Blue is a masterclass of brewing. A bit too carbonated in the last decade, but still unreal.
This dude, doesn't know shit about beer
You think the Blue is good try Westvleteren 12
Drink 6 of these 'blue bombs' after work on a Friday and you are in for a trip
@@taxn I had Westy 12 years ago. Very good, but I actually felt like it was slightly overrated - considering it's nearly impossible to get. My personal favorite is Rochefort 10.
@@benjbaird6851 Never had it but I’ll give it a try, thanks!
Never heard of Peroni or Boddingtons being accused of being _craft beer_ before 🤨
Defo not craft beers.
@@stephenhollinrake916 I saw Boddies and peroni in the thumbnail I had to watch it after that.
Agreed.. Love Boddies but not a craft beer. I could also argue it being called a beer but that’s a different video. 😂
Boddies isn’t a craft Beer… Craft, no. Beer, no. For a start it’s written on the side. Ale…
Well Americans don't know about beer.
Peroni and Boddington is as far as you can get from craft beer. Both brands belong nowadays to big beer companies. Also, the taste of Belgian beers are heavily influenced by the yeast, not the malt.
It was the same in his last video there was a couple of extremely non craft beers amongst the lot of them
@@HootMaRoot haha Yep. I felt that this time, someone had to say something 😅
Same with Lvivske
When Boss said the Peroni smelled like a Skunk the old beer adage, beware of beer in green bottles came to mind. Most of them have that smell lol.
Never liked a beer in a green bottle
Dos Equis is good. It's definitely not like a Heineken.
Peroni is awesome 😂
William Pothier Ever had a Moosehead beer? Also known as Moosebreath or Moosepiss. It comes in a green bottle.
@@terryboyer1342 can't say I ever did and here's why. My Uncle when he turned 21 got a bunch of bottled beers he never drank and Moosehead was one. We'd go visit and they'd be out on display, all gross with chunks floating in them. To this day I can't hear Moosehead and not think of that image growing up lol. Grolsch was another.
Boddingtons, the cream of Manchester, one of my favorite beers
this is what 40 years of bud light do to people....🤣🤣
I'm from Manchester and spent my formative years assaulting my liver on boddingtons ! - it is as described below as far from proper "craft" beer as you can get - but more importantly to me & my teenage friends was available everywhere & very cheap - you might like the boddingtons TV ads which were quite amusing in their day!
I used to live in the flats at blackfriars. Used to wake up to the stench of the brewery.
Chimay blue is one of my favorite beers of all time!
😂i love his reaction but belgium is our neighbour and we f**king love their beers. Best beers around next to german ones
😂😂😂😂🤣This was a good episode, keep em comin!!
Growing up in Manchester UK most of the pubs my Dad took me in with Boddingtons houses. There's no substitute for a bitter being drawn from the barrel but the wiggit in the can is an attempt to mimic the cask drawn pint! It doesn't quite pull it off but its about as close as you can get to walking into a Manchester pub and odering a pint! :)
as others have stated Bodingtons is definitely not a craft beer!
Preston, I was left in the car with my brother. Thanks dad.
How does a widget imitate a cask beer?
@@BP-kx2ig recipes.howstuffworks.com/question446.htm (better than i could explain it! ;) )
I think it’s safe to say your palette is not made for abbey beers like Chimay haha. Most of them are sooo good. If you’ve had one and drink a lager or Pilsner right after, they all taste like water. Still, I wouldn’t call most of these craft beers anyway. There are so many good micro breweries here in The Netherlands and Belgium that craft very good beer, but they’re just not available in the USA.
Chimay is fuckin tremendous
Two monks in a monestary that's had a brewery longer than the US has been a country: Monk1 - Hey, did you hear, some guy in Alabama doesn't like our beer? Monk 2 - What's an Alabama?
13:23 With a "Weißbier" or "Hefe-Weizen" you often get that banana like smell and flavor. There are also some where they mix banana into them.
Good to have you back Boss 🤙🤘🍻
Barleywine is good heavy winter beer. And Komes one is pretty good and affordable one, normally this style of beer is expensive AF.
There are no hops, which is why it's called barley wine, and not beer .
@@davidkomen5283 Barleywines are a style of beer. American barleywines are distinguished from English barleywines as a separate style because they use more hops.
@@teferi456 I've only tried two American barley wines, and neither one had hops.
@@davidkomen5283 Because it's a style and you had an English barleywine brewed by an American brewery. Even English barleywines use hops; they're just brewed to be less hop forward with lower perceived bitterness. An example of an American barleywine would be something like Sierra Nevada Bigfoot.
I have some recommendations for a potential third episode:
Dutch beers:
IJwit, Brand Pilsner, Grolsch Pilsner or Texels Skuumkoppe
Belgian beers:
LaChouffe Blond, Hoegaarden, Grimbergen Blond, Affligem Belgian White or Duvel
German beers:
Rothaus or Löwenbräu
Polish beers:
Zubr
Italian beers:
Birra moretti
Albanian beers:
Korça
Rothaus and Hoegaarden are amazing. Also for the summer I order crates of Kronenbourg Blanc. Such a nice, light summer beer.
Pilsner Urquell
I might add Hertog Jan, best ones I tried ever, but I get the feeling he's not gonna like them...
Rothaus is a good recommendation for a german beer but Löwenbräu?? This is made for export only, nobody in germany drinks that stuff! 😂😂😂
"Żubr" Its literally biggest shit in my country xD
it be cool to see Boss review Celebirty Beers. (Broken Skull IPA and more)
Still intresting to see this and other videos
😂😂 great stuff man! Hats off to you sir!
I’d love to know, what beer does Boss usually drink?
Natty
Do hard ciders next!
He likes Boddingtons! Yay!
Boddingtons is one of my favorite beers. It’s crazy smooth and light . Very very chuggable . Perfect summer beer.
i wish someone would send him a big package of german austrian and dutch beer. i bet he love those
100%, Some more Belgian or Czech too.
AYINGER Ur Weiss yum. Or Lindemans Framboise,
Im so glad that alabama boss is back! Yeyeyeyeyeye!!!!
Good to see a good ol Bama boy on Yt. I live in North Bama close to Huntsville, and the way you review these beers is exactly what we do when the old lady brings home "something new to try" . Lol. Have a good one brother.
Alabama Boss should do a review of meads.
There's a reason people in North America refer to Nastro Azzurro as "Nasty Ass"
“A Chinese man forcing a beer on me” 🤣🤣🤣
Peroni on draft and Dom DeMarco's pizza here in Las Vegas pairs so well. I love this beer with the basic cheese pizza with fresh basil on top. Great happy hour specials makes it taste that much better! Cheers!
seems like he doesn't like extreme tastes. First time having chimay and peroni was at one of my local pizza spots.
I enjoyed this, Boddingtons is a Manchester institution. The bee is the symbol of Manchester, I'll definitely subscribe and keep watching 👍🏻👍🏻
I've been waiting years for a new one of these!
Never had an issue getting decent beer in Europe, in the States, however, unless you get lucky in a micro brewery...good luck!
Boddingtons Ale my all time favorite!
I just LOVE Boddingtons
Spent my teens pickling my liver on Boddies bitter, we have much better beers in the same style but you're unlikely to find them outside the UK as they are traditional live yeast beers. Oddly Alex Lifeson (guitarist in Rush) was a fan of draught Boddingtons stuff and even bemoaned the closure of the brewery on stage in Manchester.
“They’re not gonna search for alcohol, they’re gonna search for DOPE” 😂😂
Smoothe beers like Boddys, I call Two Swigs because thats how many I have before the pint is finished. Its like milk the way it goes down. I'm glad you like it. If you can try Caffries or Killkenny, they're both wonderful beers 🍻
German beers I have enjoyed are from Ayinger, Franziskaner, Weihenstephaner, and hofbrau. You should definitely give those a try, and i think you may like those style a lot more. banana bread in a can/bottle if you get a unfiltered hefeweizen!
Love Einstock. Hard to find a expensive. I really recommend Hinano Beer from Tahiti. Best hot weather beer available. Also expensive and rare. Tahiti is a French Overseas Territory so they know how to do alcohol.
I could watch this guy drink beer all day long
Could we have Alabama boss try some more mexican beers? Such as Modelo especial since he tried modelo negra in the last video, Barrilito, carta blanca, indio, bohemia, XX, and/or Estrella Jalisco?
Stay tuned for Mexican Imports: Part 2 next Thursday!
Awesome
Great line up of beers John couldn't have said it better myself !
The widget is blowing his mind in the Boddi’s 😂
Here I am laying under a hot sun in Sweden and laughing straight out like a fool. You are a funny man and you have the same beer taste as me! Great reaction.
Try out some Nordic beer next time!
Totally agree, neighbor. Spitsbergen, Tärnö, Närke, Nøgne Ø. But I guess it would be hard to get some of the best beers we got over the pond.
Lol, dude is a light weight lager guy. I'll take the Belgium Amber, or the Barleywine all day!
There's no accounting for taste. 🤣
Beer is a broad definition. In Europe we generally have 2 types, Bitter and Lager. Bitter's taste depends on the yeast used at the time of fermentation. You don't get the same taste with every mouthful from different casks, where as Lager will give you the same taste regardless. When I was a young and inexperienced drinker I wanted to sample all of the beers to get a taste for one I liked. I was switch from Bitter to Lager and back and couldn't settle on a specific brand or type. What it did do was make me ill LOL. I found Bitter inconsistent, and eventually moved onto and stayed with Lager as my goto drink.
Years later I was diagnosed diabetic and I found a considerable difference between Bitter and Lager after that diagnosis. I found that Bitter has a lot more sugar in it than Lager and regardless of alcoholic percentage, Bitter would smash my tolerance before I had finished my first pint, whereas with Lager I could drink 6-8 pints, which had a higher alcohol percentage than Bitter, but way less sugar within the concoction.
Boddingtons brewery used to be 10 miles from my house but it closed years ago, so I don't know where you got that from
Monks brew beer for when they fast. There is a strong beer that has more calories and is like drinking a loaf of bread.
Do Japanese beers next!
Boss needs to sample Twisted Pine “Ghost Face Killah”. That’d be an epic review. 🤣
Should stick to Stella Artois if you can not stand Chimay.
“It’s gotta bitching Viking… can’t beat a Viking”
🍻
If you truly want to taste different kinds of beer you should drink them at the right temperatures. A beer like the Chimay blue should be around 53-54F or a bit above it to truly get the full flavour.
That's to warm. All beer should be just above frozen.
Beer has a shelf life. A real one. Fresh beer is best.
Chimay bleue is my favorite beer. Serve it with some cheese as an appetizer, perfect.
Man that was a hefty sip for a barleywine ya had there
Boddingtons Pub Ale is one of my favorite beers
Can we get a vid on how the boss rates the beers please
I have tried Boddingtons! I agree! I gotta try the Viking beer.
Boddingtons ....as immortalized the Macc lads song "barrel round" "you've got veins in your bodies...we've got Boddy's in out veins" How many beers can say they have songs about them? ...Damn it now I need to go out and buy a 4 pack......the blankets are going to rising off the bed like a hovercraft tonight.
Alabama is the Lancashire of America. Makes sense that he likes Boddingtons.
Just had a flight at the Einstok bar in Reykjavik two months ago, they have a sour that’s killer! Europe has so many brilliant beers, see if you can get your mitts on anything by “To Øl”.
I guess I've had a few hundred different brands. Pretty damn hard to tell a good beer , my father told me when foam stays and sticks to the glass you got good beer. Ilike Guiness & Innes bourbon
barrel beer. Lomza a Polish beer is pretty good out off about 12 different brands they have. Can't go wrong with any British Isle beer and Ale !
Love that Alabama boss is back for the brew reviews but for some reason I don't see the really funny active enthusiasm compared to years before..
you really need to try some not-craft-average-local beers from all over Europe. Especially Austria and Germany. Stuff like Lübzer Pils
"Hand Pulled", is not like a draft beer. Draft beer from the tap, has CO2 infused into it.
Hand pulled is different.
British pubs stored their kegs of beer in the cellar, below the service bar. The cellars in England were usually around 52degrees, so their beers were crafted over the years to be the best tasting at that temperature. Americans call it warm beer.
Anyways, to pull this beer up from the cellar keg, they had a literal "pump", that the bar tender would pump, with a throw of about 15 inches or so. As it was pumped, the raw beer would thus be infused with air, as opposed to CO2. Usually a glass would need a couple of pumps to fill the glass. It is really old school beer, the way it was brewed for centuries.
I have been in micro breweries in CA that had hand pulled beers, and the carbonation is much finer than the CO2.
Of course, you can't store beer with air in it, it will oxidized and turn to shit.
Chimay blue is not the cheapest beer and it is high in alcohol, but it's a delicious beer!
Devils lettuce 🥬 😂
Yes finally someone else that says Peroni smells like weed. Its so true man
The monks didn’t fail my friend, you did.
And the other video Rocheforte 10 didn't make the cut either. I think he just doesn't like good Belgian ales, and that's OK. Some people just like run of the mill lagers. Someone has to drink all the BudLight.
Chimay is the ❤
You should have tried Zewietc beer from Poland it's my favorite, Special beer is all good Polish beer. Anorbel Polish beer mentions: Leh, Tiskel, Okotchim,
Skunk weed, holy shit I haven't heard that name in 16 years, you guys are in for a surprise when you catch up with Cali weed
Ever tried Warsteiner or other German beers.
Even ever tried Heineken Oud Bruin, or a real Trappisten beer
Going to pick up some Einstock tomorrow. Hoping it lives up to the hype
That skunked smelled comes from light struck beer. Clear and green bottles don’t prevent uv light strike.
Peroni is a very nice but pricey beer out of Italy, we love it here in the UK, usually purchased when eating at a restaurant. Love a Boddys here too, very smooth drop(Boddingtons)
I buy it in a super mkt when in the USA. Then have USA beer. Costs 16.98 a six pack. When I stay at my inlaws there. Or in a bar get Canadian beer.
Tried some Polish beer that was 17% alc, was like a full meal
My recommendation for some to try would be Asahi (Japan)... Pilsner Urquell (Czech Republic)... Breda (Netherlands)... Newquay Steam Lager (UK)... El Aguila (Spain)...
British 🍺🍻 is the best the goat 🐐
Love me some Boddingtons, it's become readily available around Ohio the past few years
Man, Reading the comments you certainly brought out the beer snobs and America-haters. I'd like to say thanks for stepping outside the comfort zone and trying something new. Regarding the Monk beers I agree, as the specific gravity goes up it's really hard to brew a drinkable enjoyable beer. Anything that says barley wine should be avoided. As you said the important thing is how a beer tastes. That, and how enjoyable the drinking experience is. For example west coast IPA's ....expensive yes, craft probably, drinkable....only if your preferred beer is a pound of hops straight out of the blender.
Damn I was hoping for a Tennessee craft beer lineup for 615 Day
You should pour the whole can with the Boddies or you'll waste the gas... Pour the can in one go when you open it. It won't spit if it's not been disturbed. Same with the Guinness widget cans, or any widget can basically. You waited far far far too long from opening to pouring....Pour it so your pouring it onto the edge of the glass as if you were holding the nozzle against the edge of the glass when using a cask. Glass at 45 Degrees, can opening edge touching glass. The sooner you pour, the creamier the head and the flavour. Boddingtons is essentially what we call a bitter in the North of England. Timothy Taylors Landlord is a good option.
For the next beer review you should do California Breweries only ex. North Coast Brewing, Dust Bowl or Firestone Walker
Dude, I drink Peroni all the time and it definitely smells like weed when you open it.
Totally should buy another of those from Poland lose it in the fridge for awhile and try it again later
I think Boddingtons is brewed in Macclesfield. Yep I like boddies, that's what the locals call it. Tetley bitter is not bad either.
From his rating of the beers before it, I was pretty sure he’d like the Boddingtons. 😊
It's called a widget that holds the air. I've had that a few times it's pretty good.
Man, you're drinking the monk beers waaayy too cold. I can see it from the ice melting from the bottle. Its NOT a lager. Recommended temperature is written on all those bottles. Drink them warmer, and they are amazing!
Nice review, have you tried STELLA GREEN?
I don't think he has!
Whatever next, tennents super and hoffmiester!!!!😂😂😂
Im sorry you havent his taste in beers, however he has mine so im good! Good job sir!
Chimay is an awesome beer!!!
You need to try Newcastle brown ale! Top tier beer
❤ Boddingtons
Roma as in romans from Rome. Peroni must be an acquired taste, once tried was more than enough to try again.
The last time I had Boddingtons was up a mountain in Banff, Canada, not the original Banff in Scotland. Guinness in cans also has the same ball in England.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, simply known as the United Kingdom (UK) or Britain, is a country in Northwestern Europe, off the north-western coast of the continental mainland. It comprises England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
Boddingtons and Guinness. Good old bumblebee
Peroni a good Italian beer although it's owned by Anheuser Busch now
It was never owned by Anheuser-Busch 9I've been with Anheuser-Busch since 1989). It used to be owned by SABMiller....when InBev-Anheuser-Busch bought SABMiller a few years ago.....the Peroni brand was sold to Asahi of Japan (who own it today) in order for the US Government to allow the sale.
Should get Karmeliet next time
Nice, but not a session beer.
Have not seen a video from this dude in a few definitely best one there is Chimay
