    You always tell the difference when an older Igbo woman vlogs and when an indomine generation Igbo women vlogs. When you arrive to your ancestral hometown or your husbands ancestral homeland, go and greet your relatives! This doesn’t mean your brothers and sisters but your extended family and neighbours! That’s the Igbo way. We are a communal people afterall, community and family over individualism

    • @FloChinyere
      @FloChinyere  Рік тому +7

      Chief abeg ooo! Indomie generation. 😂😂😂 That's the Igbo way my brother, that's how we were brought up. Back then, once we dropped our bags, we would go and greet extended family members, same day ooo! Because you would not want them to see the light at your house at night and know you came back before you've greeted them with bread. lol

    This made me remember the last time I visited my husband's village in Enugu. Being from a different tribe, the welcome was quite different from what I was used to. The hugs, the dancing and singing was beautiful. They said a lot of things that I didn't understand but the smile said it all. They almost finished me with food😂😂😂😂, Abacha, Okpa, different Ofes!

      My thoughts too...the way they cut trees in the village (speaking from my own family compound experience) because of houses eh. Sometimes it's necessary (because of the danger it may be posing) but very saddening to cut down a matured tree that bears plenty fruits. I think there's a way to transplant a tree these days. Infact people have successfully imported trees from Africa to plant them in Europe, so it's possible but our people need to be educated in that aspect and understand why it is important.

      Aww! These days we hire caterers to do most of the bulk cooking while we take on the simple ones before someone will collapse. lol

    Such a wonderful feeling seeing and greeting family. Really miss it since my mom is passed. I remember those clothes lines when i was a child and my mom hanging clothes up in the back yard and we had to. Now using a dryer. We cant have a clothes line in our yard in the neighborhood we live in. But i hang them up anyway. My friend from Africa taught me to fry the tomatoe sauce best thing ever. Planning to visit this year.

    Aunty Flo, you are one of the reasons I decided to complete our family home in the village... My daughter has never been to the village since she was borne but this 2024, December must see us full ground for village and I intend to drive my entire family from Lagos to Imo state.... My wife is like, "I am not going to do that with you cos she does not believe I can drive from Lagos to Imo state.... I am still trying to convince her that we can do it... She and I will just be taking turns to drive.... Also, we will be opening our village house this Xmas as well.... I am making sure it is very comfortable the way they are in Lagos.... Solar light and all..... You are an inspiration, Iust tell you... Watching your videos has made it possible to make sure we connect even more strongly with families back home... Despite all the imperfections, nothing sweet like village, forget...

      This comment warms my heart so much. 💃💃💃 May you all have a fun filled festive season when the time comes. Congratulations on how far you and your family have come.
      But that driving to the East, checkikwaa ya ọfụma Nnaa a. For the actual driving, I believe you when you say you can do it and with wifey driving with you, both of you can do it with jara. But ndi one-checkpoint-per-kilometer ga-egbu ụnụ oge too much. Send me an email: contactus@allnigerianrecipes.com for more info.
      Yes o, nothing sweet like village!
