As a young Englishmen moving to Cardiff city to study I wasn't aware of the profound effect this beautiful song would have on me. On a match day stood in the Owain Glyndŵr watching a sea of red sing their hearts out, young and old, brought a tear to my eye. Love, pride, companionship.. .that day I saw real humanity in a beautifully pure form. I love the country, I love the people and I love this song!
Lee, that was a beautiful comment. Thank you. I believe the English are about one third Celtic (Welsh) & you've shown by expressing emotion, that it surely applies to you.

Gert Venghaus I agree, I'm English but I'd much prefer to sing something inspiring and uplifting than God Save The Queen everytime England has almost any sporting event.

The most Beautiful Anthem in the World!!!
Christopher Greenland i absolutely agree with you 100% it is an amazing antham im so proud to be welsh.
@Maikind K. Well, that's your opinion. You're allowed to think that. But MY favorite anthem is the Welsh.
This song makes me proud of my Welsh origin. I can't wait to visit Wales, the land of my fathers, when I get older. 🏴🏴
I raise a glass (wee drop of Scottish holy water) to our celtic cousins from Wales 🇮🇪🏴🏴
Nothing Celtic about Scotland. It's embarrassing people even use the term for you.
No sir it is you that embarrassed yourself, sure you can tell a lot about a man by his comments..You sound like your very uneducated and very confused..I beg of you to reply and tell us why we dont have a celtic culture in Scotland...please reply,oh and stay safe Pale Pilgrim
@@stilllaughing3959 Why you don't have a Celtic culture in Scotland? Well, let's begin:
1) Almost NO Celtic language ability, instant disqualifier as it's the most important factor in Celticness (do not tell me you do, because less than 2% of your entire population has ANY ability in a Celtic language, there are literally more Slavs in Scotland than Celts)
2) Most of you don't even have Celtic names, you overwhelmingly have Germanic compound names coming from the English language (Thomson, Wilson, Smith, Robertson, Anderson etc. etc.)
3) Socially speaking you're virtually indistinguishable from England
4) You are over 50% descended genetically from Germanic peoples who settled Scotland between the 500s and the 1200s. Over 50%, that's higher than Austria's Germanic descent. That's equal levels with England.
@@stilllaughing3959 Why don't YOU tell me what IS Celtic about Scotland, friend. Folk music? You play some folk music and slap a 'Celtic' label on it? And just like that, you've magically transformed into a pure Celtic people. INCREDIBLE. TRULY.
My family came to Canada from Wales back in the 1920's. Very proud of this heritage.
Wales has about a quarter of the area of my native Ireland but always manages to punch way above its weight. I have lived here since 1960 and cherish it as my second homeland.
Speaking as a non Welsh person this must be the most beautiful and stirring anthem in the world.
Love and Blessings from Scotland. Such a powerfull ballad, it speaks of both Wale's courage and endurance. God bless the celtic nations!! :)
I don't even live in Wales but this song is so beautiful, truly a masterpiece
My Grandfather was born outside Tenby....we still have relatives there whom I'd love to meet..Though he died just before I was born, my older sisters had the pleasure of hearing him sing to them in Welsh...I'm trying to learn the old language but it's difficult unless one has someone to speak it with.My Dad was a true Welshman and loved our heritage. Welsh Dragons decorated our walls..I love this video!
I might have cried of emotion if I wouldn't control myself. How nice and glorious!
Greetings from an argentine friend.
@#CHOOSELIFENOTAKNIFE
During the 1800s and the induction of the 'welsh knot' forbidding children to speak Welsh a lot of Welsh people migrated all around the world to escape the persecution of the Welsh language.
Patagonia being one of the larger settlements of the Welsh and the language there is still spoken strongly.

I'm a Dane, and I know we Scandinavians haven't been too nice to the Welsh. But I would love to have been Welsh, simply because the history of Wales just tops (nearly) everything else I've heard about. What a lovely country.
Diolch yn fawr iawn gefnder Dane. I'm part Viking, think we pretty much all are somewhere down the line. x
My grandmother is Danish and she now lives in Wales, you should try it too :D
There is a lot more Celtic DNA in England than people would believe. Read "Celts, Saxons, Danes" (word order may be wrong and this is done intentionally) Consequently those who have it are related to the Welsh. Cymru am byth!
Wales is a cracking country, nothing better than singing this in the millenium stadium with 70,000 other people!
That's not true at all! Have you ever been to see a game in the Millenium? It's a great family-friendly atmosphere. Yes it's loud but that's down to the nature of the stadium itself. If Twickenham was an identical stadium, it'd be just as loud.
Barry Hollywood Can't agree with you more. I think this Englishman just came on to this vid to spread an anti Wales message.
Brett Godefroi Well, the average Englishman is a chav or a yob. The average Englishwoman is a witless slag, a single mummy, or a stuck-up bitch! See, your not the only one who can stereotype an entire nation.
Welsh people are not friendly okay? Okay?! I don't understand why anybody likes Wales so much.
Brett Godefroi "Welsh beasts" thank you for saying the Welsh are brilliant
It's an anthem that sums up our country, JUST READ THE WORDS! Proud to be WELSH!

Scotland USED to be Welsh, and most of the people there either still descend from the Welsh, their sister people the Picts, or later Anglo-Saxon and Norse settlers. Scotland means 'Irish-land' and 'Scottish' literally means Irish.
Come home, Caledonia... Come home.
I'm italian and off course i hope my team will eventually win but if we won't i hope you to win. I studied in wales and meet a lot of amazing and proud welsh people kind and helpful. I really had an Amazing time in your country and i want to say thank you for that.
I am Irish but I love this anthem especially when the Welsh sing it with so much pride and in Welsh
Beautiful, soulful, moving, passionate. The Welsh are so lucky. Why are we English blighted with such a turgid national anthem?
If you think the two are comparable you are a fool. The queen means nothing to me and god does not exist so our national anthem is pointless before it even starts. Musically it is unmeritorious and the words invoke at best tedium and at worst resentment. The Scottish and the Welsh anthems have evolved out of a meaningful and nationally significant context for their people. Gsq has not. As the name suggests it is about an individual, or at best the office of the crown, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the actual people of the nation. It is in stark contrast to the anthems of the other home nations.

That's because England does not have a national anthem. What you guys sing is the national anthem of the UK, not England.
Jerusalem is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard and is considered to be the unofficial anthem of England. Time to make it official.
Because over the border and far away England takes over everyone and celebrate it in their anthem
@@123paulOur anthem is Jerusalem, although I'm sure you'll have something to moan about with that. Further, your precious EU anthem, Ode To Joy, which they've stolen, also mentions God and Heaven. But I'm sure you're really cool with that...
I'm from the Netherlands, and I remember before the start of the EUROs, everyone from here were going to be cheering for Belgium because they're our neighbour. I immediately said I would cheer for Wales - they're never in the such a tournament, Aaron Ramsey is a favorite midfielder of mine (and boy did he deliver), it'll be great!
That first Wales game, hearing all the Welsh in the crowd and on the pitch sing that anthem (which is gorgeous, and I'm honestly jealous of - the Dutch national athem is a dispassionate snooze about one bloke and includes fealty to the king of Spain), I knew I made the right choice.
Hello! I know the Euros are well and truly done but in all prior tournaments which we sadly did not qualify for I always, ALWAYS cheered for the Dutch! It might be because when my mother came back from a trip to the Netherlands with work she brought home a pair of Welsh red clogs that she'd had made and I wore to death, even to nursery school! I still have them on my dressing table to this day and if I do ever make it to the Netherlands I hope I can get another pair! Weird story I know but I am a little weird!
Let us hope our nations meet in the 2018 World Cup!
Nice - You've had one more pair clogs than I've had in my life!
With the current state of the Netherlands' national team, I certainly hope we don't meet any time soon, though haha!
SharpWalkers I love your country and it’s sad that us 🏴& 🇳🇱 won’t be in the wc , but hopefully both will be in the euros
Thank you to Holland for helping us, Wales, to beat Belgium that day. Our second goal, by Keanu Reeves, was obviously learned from your greatest player ever: Johann Cruyff. I remember watching him and supporting Holland in the World Cup when I was a child in the 70s. The Dutch football was beautiful. Thanks again.

This is so beautiful, and the fact that I didn't understand the language did nothing to detract from the sheer splendour of this anthem. It deserves better than foul language, let us hope that Deep Heat will grow up.
My grandmother is 98 years old from Carmarthenshire fluent Welsh speaker living in England most of her life. I’m technically English but she taught me to sing Land of my Fathers in Welsh when I was a boy. She’s still alive and kicking. I’m so proud of my heritage.
