Unfortunately, those minis are probably not very tasty anymore. Due to their size and lack of proper sealing, they oxidize extremely fast compared to their bigger bottled versions. Those big boys are probably delicious though.
I was 18 (and drinking age was still 18) and a college freshman in 1977. That old Grand Dad and the WT 101 were our goto bottles. Great video, thanks guys. 🥃😎 BTW the OGD was $5.99 or $6.99 depending on the store and WT 101 was generally $7.99 . So I imagine in 1971 it was probably a $ or 2 less.
my approach on a vintage bottle has been corkscrew and then pour the whiskey through a brewers strainer to get the debris out. then pour it back in the bottle. replace the cork and glue that to the original cap adjusting for size. done.
Super generous of you both to give away a sample of the dusty and two other amazing (at least from all the reviews I have seen) Wild Turkey products! I love seeing historic dusty bottle reviews! Cheers!
1971 Wild Turkey find?! The score of a lifetime ... And well played with that cork! I was so disheartened when I saw the cork break, but your kick save was legendary lol. Thanks for sharing.
That sample pack is INCREDIBLE and can not be any better! WT12 is amazing and I have a bottle. Single rick is one of if not the best pours I have ever had (next to GTS) and come on a WT101 dusty from 71! Come on that is probably 3 of the best pours out there!!!
I was 11 in 1971. 😂 I really like today's Wild Turkey 101, but a bottle from 53 years ago ought to be something special. 12:24 That's one reason I prefer a screw top. Even an artificial cork can break, and the seal over a cork is always a pain. But it's easy to open and close a screw top, and they don't break. You know, in 1971 they did *not* say source. There were (and still are) various other perfectly good words that were in use. 🙂
Awesome show! Great pour! Be sure to share our gratitude with your friend. Always remember, "If you woke up this morning and you were unsure if anyone loved you, just know that we all !" Cheers!
What an awesome fine. Anytime I stopped at an estate sale or garage sale of an older person I always ask if there's any bottles just hanging out. So far nothing but someday I'll hit one Awesome giveaway
That musty dank grape note I often get with dusties is also most prominent with a fresh crack and becomes more integrated like a good old armagnac after a few pours are out of the bottle
When I moved out of my parents house back in the day they gave me a box of old dusty 50ml bottles and I carelessly drank them and mixed them together to make a horrible drink.. wish I would have kept those lol😢
Thanks for sharing this rare find! For old corks, there is a new tool on the market called the "Durand." It makes removing crumbly and fragile corks more easy than with an Ah-So.
@@BourbonRealTalk several years ago when I went to yard sales more often I bought a huge lot at a estate sale. There was a 70’s Jim Beam decanter that was awesome also like early 70’s Crown Royal those were best ones.
Yeah great, as if camping outside of liquor stores wasn't bad enough, next level is hitting up the remnants of the recently deceased asking if they have any booze 😆
@@BigBadJerryRogers I don't get your point. That's literally the purpose of an estate sale -- what does it matter if someone is looking for vintage porcelain geese or dusty spirits?
@@eafarrar of course you wouldn't. But to the normies who have never considered the idea of booze being a hobby, you'll have to take my word for it that they're going to think you're some nutter if you go asking about that randomly
@@BigBadJerryRogers So what if "normies" think it's weird? Vintage spirits is not any weirder than collecting decorative spoons or Snoopy memorabilia -- or Snoopy spoons, in particular -- but that's beside the point. You made it sound like it was somehow an affront to the dead to ask about things that are for sale at an *estate sale*. So, I still don't get your point.

You guys are awesome for giving us a chance to have something that we have no chance of ever seeing. Thankyou. 🥃🥃
It's our pleasure. Thanks for being here!
Ole Dusty’s
I was born in 71. Survived the croup and an early cold front in the Texas Panhandle that year. Didn’t taste WT until 1996
I was nervous during the cork pull. Great video!
Drank Wild Turkey in college in late 70's and early 80's. Funny, I can't seem to remember the taste. 😂
Dusty opportunities don’t come around that often… Hell that wild turkey is almost as old as I am lol
Thank you 👍🥃
Just read the book Dusty Booze and it has a ton of fun dusty hunting stories like this. Every bottle has a story! Great video
Great show and find
Love your channel
Glad you enjoy it!
This was a very informative video!
Very nice of Daniel to share these with you. I had no idea about some of this information. Great job on this one.
How exciting to find a score like this!

I was 61 when I started. 🙂

Epic find! Great stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Man those are great finds! Especially the OG PVW bottle
The 1980 vintage dusty WT 101 pour I enjoyed in March was far better than anything produced today including PVW and BTAC
Very cool video! Love this show.
Thank you!!

Very cool video, I got the "cork stash" idea from you guys a number of videos ago.
I was still a gleam in my dad’s eye when that stuff was made. This is really cool.
