I have an original one in storage that used to belong to my Dad. He bought it back in early 80s. Funny how you say nobody wanted to be seen in it. I remember my dad taking us out to the lake and we would feel the same way. We always had people looking at us like what is that. As kids we were so embarrassed now I want to restore it and pass that feeling to my nephew's thanks for your video.
I like how you boost the horsepower. Around here, outfitters used to do the opposite to their 15hp Johnsons. The 9.9s didn't require licensing so they would swap the 15hp with a the cover off a blown up 9.9.
Hi there, I have a 1986 20 hp Johnson, wondering what size fuel line is needed for the primer pump going to the carb? The previous owner replaced the primer pump and did a terrible job fastening it with the tie straps so I have to redo it. What would be the best fuel line to use (it has clear very small diameter), do you happen to know the diameter of fuel line needed? Thanks a lot Great video!
Really appreciate your vids Brandon. You helped me out immensely with my '88 88 HP SPL motor in adding a tach to monitor it...works like a charm! Thank you!
@@Xpyburnt_ndz yes I was referring to you. If you have factory omc side mount controls the overheat alarm is built in . Which is why I asked if it worked. Does it beep when you turn the key?
@@ct1762 yes I have the stock OMC controls and it does beep when I turn the key to the on position for a second...the boat is an '88 Bluefin and didn't come with a tach but in all my previous boats, there's been one and I've always kind of relied on the tach to make sure I was running the right pitch prop etc., and performance of the engine...my other boats had them stock and Brandon did a detailed install of adding one...it was perfect for my engine...had to get a new harness from the controls to the tach as the one on it was "chopped" and didn't have all three wires in it... got that handled and it works great!
Hey Brandon I have one of those MARS units, an '96 AML35D , I'm having problems with it bogging down and dying @ wot, I've cleaned the carb several times, the high speed jet (65D) and idle jet, replaced fuel pump, and I'm looking for a used carb. this has a CU432703 can you give me a carb number that will work?
SO I have a question about an OMC MARS 35 HP I cant find any info on the year or if its possible to remotely control the throttle from a shift box. Do you have any insight
Why did they change that motor for the military? Why not just leave it stock? It’s only 20hp. Maybe that’s just another way for the government to waste money.
Brass fuel fittings instead of plastic, coils that weren't sensitive to water, and a dewatering valve. Theory was if the boat sunk, you should quickly and easily drain the fuel system, and be back up and running in minutes. Problem was all that stuff came with weird parts you usually wouldn't want.
So now your working for the CHP as there test dummy ? Lmao. It was a toy nothing more nothing less ! You played with it and now the CHP can use it for body recovery or issuing tickets ( hope you got a get out of jail free card ) question-> was that a SPL motor ? You’ll have more fun on that sweet bass boat anyways & you have Jet skis to play with ! WIN WIN !
@@ct1762 I had 2 SPL’s and both are standard shaft no extension on them . It’s the carb and choke system that I was wondering about the blocks are all the same .
@@ct1762 you had my brain working and if I remember both my motors might have been converted to short shaft so I can’t say if they came from the factory like that or a dealership did it ? I just know the lower units are the same year as power head without pull start ( only electric ) and no manual choke !

Model # and serial # would get you busted though if you were ever in an incident.
@@brianchisnell1548 Nobody ever looked that close.
Another great job 👏 that little skip moves along pretty quickly I like it thanks again for your info
I thought for sure it was that clear fuel line that was giving you the trouble. I like the Palm choke trick☝
Wowww very good my brother👍👍❤

well good to hear, and thanks for taking the time to leave feedback.
does your overheat alarm work?
@@ct1762 not sure if you're asking me or Brandon, but I don't have that feature on my motor, if I'm who you're asking...

Of course its possible:

Great video! Have you ever rebuilt a high horsepower outboard? That'd be also cool to watch.
Let's go Brandon!
Hi. Does the timing advance 4 deg. During wot ? Compared to static wot setting? On these om c twins? 50 hp also.
it does!
Oh, and thank you.
Enjoyable.
Needed pictures of hole boat sitting in boat in water . What's speed you get to. 🤔
20 horse crank breaker, those are notorious for snap the crank off, betveen the cylinders or under flywheel
Well, I saw the other vids...cool novelty, yea..done.
None of your friends wanted to be seen on it… Ha ha. I guess it had to go then.
That river is SO shallow. Start looking for an air boat.
I know, Ive wanted one. Problem is they are usually found in swamplands, which are thousands of miles from here.
We need the story on the sale bro.
can do!
