Freestyle Tricktip 69: The Scarewalk

- Our first ever ollie trick, and it's one of the most obscure things yet: the scarewalk. No, this isn't an airwalk with the legs kicked the other way - we're going to pop the board up vertical and grab it between our legs with our back hand; no prize for guessing where the name came from with this one.

Did you see the run time on this one? I'm not sure it fits into the "micro" category!
Grabbing the technique to help out on the extension of consistency and control the momentum of a good special tricks to timing the right angle of a different spot to changing the rotations of a training and more versatile ollie to make this trick very difficult to creating enough separation of a approving training and skate tutorial!
But really... has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

I saw rodney do it in some video and I thought it must be crazy hard. I'm gonna try it today, hopefuly knowledge of airwalks, impossibles and pressureflips will help me on my journey landing this trick. thank you so much for your videos, you make tricktips that made me learn 360 fingerflips and I'm not really a freestyle skateboarder, you are the best!
There's a lot of stuff ol' Rodders does which really *isn't* that hard. People put him and his stuff on a pedestal but once you give some of it a go, a lot of it's not that tough to do.
Apart from (ollie) kickflip underflips. Those are ridiculously difficult, even for people who are world-class late flip kings. I don't think I'll ever do one of those - not my trick at all.

@@Tomek666 That's always the biggest battle. Beginners always think that simply getting their feet back onto the griptape is everything, but that couldn't be further from reality.

It's such a rare trick thank you for covering it! I assumed it would be a variation of the Airwalk with a 'Ollie Nose Grab/Caveman' feel, but the under-sided grab with the back hand really makes it a different trick all-together. Aswell as it staying right under you rather than safely in front. It also makes me wonder why transition skaters don't do this trick? Also would love to see the Airwalk next!
I can't really picture this being done on ramps, whether mini or vert - that position in mid-air above a ramp would probably look a bit odd. It's a great trick, though.
Full disclosure: my airwalks are horrible. After learning this back in 2004/2005-ish, I never bothered learning airwalks. I should really go back and learn them myself, but in an ideal world, I'd just get Felix Jonsson to do a trick tip for them. He has some of the best airwalks I've ever seen.

No, sadly not. I thought maybe there'd be something left on eengoedidee.nl - that's what we used to use before UA-cam - but it looks like it's been nuked or is under a different name.
Jeff was always a very private man, so I wouldn't be that surprised if he'd removed all his old vids.

Oddly, I'd say not. I mean, it won't hurt, but really all you're doing is stomping down on the tail as hard as you can; the foot foot is just getting out of the way instead of sliding and controlling the board like it would in an ollie.

Depending on what you're looking for, these are my recommendations:
Deck only: www.moonshineskateboards.com - they don't do completes but the decks are second to none.
Completes: www.modeskateboards.com - the guy who runs Mode is one of the nicest guys in the world and he cares deeply about the quality of his product, and it shows. Not a lot of deck choice (frankly, they're all on the long side), but if the decks work for you, this is your best bet.
Choice: www.decomposedskateboards.com - the deck quality is lower than the other two but they have far more deck shapes, trucks, and wheel options in one place than anywhere else in the US.
Your absolute best bet would be to get a deck from Moonshine and all the other parts from Decomposed, but if that's too much hassle, just go straight to Mode and let Terry sort you out.
