As a musician, you can appreciate Asami's (the vocalist) powerful mid-to-high vocal range that can soar above Lovebites' very fast-paced and heavy riffs/licks with ease to provide the melodic contrast, and you're right, there aren't too many vocalists who are able to do that. By the way, "Holy War" was the 17th track (last song before 2 encores) in this 2-hour concert and Asami still held those 2 lengthy high notes like they've just started the show. I will add thrash and neoclassical metal to the metal sub-genres you have mentioned, and they blend all of these into their tracks seamlessly. If you want to truly witness how talented these ladies are, I recommend "Swan Song" with Chopin intro LIVE : ua-cam.com/video/WBhtqgiXEA4/v-deo.html and "A Frozen Serenade" LIVE : ua-cam.com/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/v-deo.html
in my opinion, every performance in this concert is amazing, except for this one & Glory Tothe World.. for Holy War, I prefer the 2020 version, because I'm in love with Asami's deep and powerfull vibrato on that version.. and for Glory to the World, I prefer the studio version.. because I think it's impossible to perform it on live.. the epicness and the mysterious vibes in the song is like just gone forever.. it's my opinion for these two song from my top 5 Lovebites tracks..
I love watching and listening to someone who is musically knowledgeable wax lyrical about my favourite band. I’m 63, and this is the best band I’ve ever heard. I’ve been lucky enough to see their “comeback” gig in Tokyo in March and even luckier to have tickets for two dates on their Japanese tour in September. Believe me, they are as good as they sound here, though obviously they have the benefit of post production polish. But you can only polish stuff that shines.
I appreciate you calling me knowledgeable, you might change your mind after a few videos, though :p They really seem incredible, you can fix some issues after the fact, but the tightness of the band playing together and the consistency really sells it for me. I'm sure they could play in my garage and sound just as good.
I just looked up the set list for the Tokyo concert in 2021 and it showed this song, Holy Wars, as the 16th song and last of their main set with two more songs as their encore. Asami IS that good. I love your assessment of her singing stamina.
@@Memento_Mori - The 2020 live version is much better mixed. Midori (the blond guitar player) had a very low volume and the base player almost none here.
@@rolandkarlsson7072 I've been listening to a few versions to make sure I get all of it and just as I suspected, the bass being more pronounced just makes it even better.

I found Lovebites 15 months ago and they became my favorite band, taking over Iron Maiden which held the spot since 1982. Glad you did this version. There is a 2020 version out there that everyone does but this one I think is better. Keep your Lovebites journey going. I've listened to about 35 of their 60 songs Miyako (dark hair guitarist with the Dean guitar) is coming out with an EP in June that she does covers of metal songs all on piano. That will be interesting.
Asami, the vocalist, puts everything into every song. She said in an interview that she always sings as if it’s the last time she ever will. Before joining Lovebites in 2016, becoming a metal-singer, she was previously an RnB and Jazz singer (she has had vocal coaching), and she is also a trained (for a decade or so) ballet dancer, hence her fluid arm movements etc. Her nickname is: The One & Only Voice Asami is just 5'0" tall, but her presence on stage is absolutely noticeable: during the live shows she commands the crowd, even without saying a word (during the singing breaks). She is a power-house, with a lot of vocal stamina and one of the best lead-singer & front-women in the Metal scene these days!!

In the fall of 2022 they found a young fantastic bass player and in 2023 they released a new LP. The new LP reached the 5th place in the Japanese charts. That's great info! I'll have to check out their Wacken performances, a lot of my favorite bands have played there and I must have just missed them somehow.
All these women are truly amazing. Asami/vocals at 4' 10" thunders like this for an entire 2 hour set. Haruna/drums at 4' 9" is lost behind that kit but plays like a beast possessed, she is exhausting just to watch. Midori/blond and Miyako/black (she is 3/4 months pregnant during this show) just blister along song to song at a pace that should ignite those guitars. Then we have Miho/bass, founder who put this band together and it is her driving force that brought it to this level. Left but forever loved by the Wolfpack and seeing her is always bittersweet. She headbangs from start to finish and her head stays on despite the stressing. LIVE these women are the very definition of Flawless Perfection.
They're powered by passion and it shows. It's amazing that they are so loved by their fanbase and I can't wait to hear more performances from them. Thanks for stopping by!
Great reaction. Hope to see you do more LOVEBITES. You had a phrase that stuck a cord - ....they are "so good that you don't want for anything". - Except more of the same maybe 😄.
Excellent reaction. Thank you for following LOVEBITES. From now on, please LOVEBITES. I have always felt that Asami is both a vocalist and an actress. Asami can sing in a variety of ways depending on the song. She has a wide range of belts from low to high(e5), and is able to perform them with certainty.
"I have always felt that Asami is both a vocalist and an actress." That's a great way to put it, and absolutely right. E5 is crazy and her stability is really impressive. Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks for your reaction and spreading the music of Lovebites to the masses. For your next reaction i suggest... Break the Wall , Hammer of Wrath, Set the World on Fire...all heavy and thrashy songs. If you love the piano....Swan Song ( with Chopin beginning) or maybe a metal ballad like Epilogue. Glory to Lovebites 🤘 🐺 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Vocalist Asami has an R&B and Soul background. She was a lounge singer and sang as backup for a few Japanese artists/bands. She didn't know metal music at all and didn't know that she could sing higher notes and hold it until after she joined the band.
That doesn't surprise me, there are so many metal vocalists that start in different areas and just blow people out of the water. David Draiman from Disturbed was classically trained in Opera for like 4 years as well.
Interesting - I've watched this concert many times, but watching Holy War in isolation was an eye opener, since the more common version is the 2020 one. Seeing this, I prefer this one - I know you don't get the same Miho 5 second bass feature here, but overall I think this is better version and loved the Midori and Miyako moment at the very end of the solo. 🤘
How can someone not like or love Lovebites, its beyond me Welcome to the wolfpack! Miyako the relaxed guitarist is awesome at piano as well, she lets her guitar express everything and Midori is energetic AF and interacting with everyone :p Miho on bass has unfortunately left the band but Fami is madness (judgement day, stand and deliver from their latest album) And Im just gonna say I love Haruna on drums, she's unstoppable
Asami's vocal range is really incredible! "The Range Planet" project estimates it as D3 (ua-cam.com/video/d1V_s0fjGoo/v-deo.html at 0m43 sec) - B♭5 (ua-cam.com/video/Ogc4varqmVY/v-deo.html at 25m01s).
I am not sure if it's this concert or not but the dark haired guitarists is preggers in one of the videos. it looks like she might have a baby bump in this one so maybe. And I know on one of the other vids, someone told me the singer was pregnant. You would never know it. I recently saw a video by them from a few years back where they did a bunch of backstage stuff. I don't think it was this tour but they said they were so nervous for this particular show they just did. But the thing that really struck me was how they just seemed nice and even shy young women. The bassist, who has since left the band, was the most composed to me. I know she and the drummer were the founders and from another group. So maybe thats why. Oh and the drummer is REALLY short. LOL. I think the other women are between 5'2 and 5'4 and they all seemed like they were towering over her. But I was most surprised by the singer. You would have no idea she had such a voice and confidence on stage. It was really like a light switch turned on when they went onto the stage and then turned right off once they left it. For that concert anyway it was like that.
A lot of performers are generally introverted and the performances come from a part of them they don't normally let out. I'm similar when I perform, but the stage presence is undeniable and you'd never know from watching them play.
@@Memento_Mori I know what you mean. I played sports a lot when I was younger. Normally, I don't take things too seriously and love being a clown. But in a game, I had a switch that I would be very intense and focused. But I would only switch it on each play. I imagine it's similar to that.
Great reaction! Please, please, please do some more Lovebites reactions! I really enjoyed your commentary and insight, as well as how invested you were. You've only scratched the surface. Not sure you have any idea what awaits if you dig any deeper (it sounds like you do, but at the same time - omg - the songs you have not heard yet!! The variety!! The sitting there stunned at what you're hearing - it is unmatched!). I don't even know what to recommend at this point. You've heard Holy War live. I love seeing this version reacted to - it is far less commonly reacted to. On your own time I recommend checking out the Zepp 2020 version to compare. I'll suggest a few, tailored towards a direction you might want to go: Break the Wall live from Zepp 2020, Set the World on Fire live from 2021, Thunder Vengeance live from Zepp 2020 (the show opener, written by Miho, the bassist) if you want to go hard into the paint. Swan Song (with the Chopin intro) or Frozen Serenade if you want to be stunned by another facet they offer (I'm sure you noticed the grand piano on stage). One of the "E" songs if you want yet another facet of Asami's voice - either Empty Daydream (a sort of 80s rock song with amazing backing vocals) or Edge of the World (a sort of progressive, epic ballad). I can't say enough about this band. One of the most amazing bands I have ever come across. I subscribed by the way!
I have more Lovebites on the list so no worries! I have Break the Wall and Swan Song coming eventually, and I'll at the very least enjoy the others on my own time for sure. I really appreciate the subscription and I hope you enjoy everything coming up!
The upload is actually not as good as theirs from a couple years ago, it is not as clean of a mix, this is a little muddy in comparison. Still great though.
@@Memento_Mori I mean, it's Lovebites, so you can't go wrong. I'd say the 2020 version is the most recommended, and probably the more impressive/shocking performance to new reactors/listeners, but this version is great too. Look at those black clouds, it’s going to rain blood
People live in fear, covered in mud
Singing oh Gloria to change the prophecy
We are the metal warriors
Fighting the darkness for sisters
There is a thousand, a thousand of evils
Hush, do not wake up Satan’s devils
Singing Hallelujah to save our majesty
We are the metal warriors
Fighting the darkness for brothers
Shining blade and burning heart
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Immortal soul, let there be light
Into the Eye of Heaven
Eagles at a holy war
Fly higher than the sun
We are one for all and all for one forevermore
SOLO: midori
Kingdom of Heaven, never shall we fall
Reincarnation, wait for your call
Singing oh, Gloria to change the prophecy
We are the metal warriors
Fighting the darkness for sisters
Morning star and dying moon
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Mighty soul, let there be hope
Into the Eye of Heaven
Eagles at a holy war
Fly higher than the sun
Stand up in the name of the God of heavy metal
What do we live for? What do we fight for, tonight?
But the world is beautiful, worth fighting for
Only have one thing on our mind
Facing the fate, holy war
SOLO: miyako / midori / both
Singing Hallelujah to save our majesty
We are the metal warriors
Fighting the darkness for brothers
Shining blade and burning heart
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Immortal soul, let there be light
Into the Eye of Heaven

Fly higher than the sun

I've been a big LOVEbites fan for 3 years and fans never get enough of it so : S u g g e s t i o n s for next reaction V i d e o 's:

INFO : Miyako + Midori are the best guitar duo in 3 decades ! All Lovebites women are masters. These Ladies write, compose and arrange their own songs. Over 60 premium songs in 6 years and not a single weak song. Masters in live playing and geniuses in composing. LOVEBITES: Their gimmick is their ability! - This women play different styles, but always hard and fast. Thrash Metal + Power Metal + Speed Metal + Metal Ballads. 🤘LOVEbites🤘
You're spot on, I have 3 more LOVEBITES songs coming eventually with reactions and I definitely only want more.
I have both Swan Song and Break the Wall on the list! Thanks for stopping by and I'm happy to have you here!
You should also listen to Lovebites “When Destiny’s Align”. This will show you Asami’s range!
Thank you for the excellent reaction and analysis. 🤘
Asami-san is from another world, her voice is majestic, it's an addiction🐺🤘
Thank you for the excellent compliment! Asami could pivot from Metal to Broadway and nobody would bat an eye, she's sensational.
Ok, now you have to check the other side of LOVEBITES. Pls react to Epilogue live, you'll explore more for Asami's voice.
I'll add it to the list! Thanks for stopping by!
I really liked that too, thanks for stopping by!
How can someone not like or love Lovebites, its beyond me
Welcome to the wolfpack!
Miyako the relaxed guitarist is awesome at piano as well, she lets her guitar express everything and Midori is energetic AF and interacting with everyone :p
Miho on bass has unfortunately left the band but Fami is madness (judgement day, stand and deliver from their latest album)
And Im just gonna say I love Haruna on drums, she's unstoppable
This was last song of the main set. I don't think they even break a sweat
I doubt they do, it looked like they were at band practice with how easy it seemed.
One of the few shows they did with six people on stage, Miyako was very pregnant at the time.
Asami's vocal range is really incredible! "The Range Planet" project estimates it as D3 (ua-cam.com/video/d1V_s0fjGoo/v-deo.html at 0m43 sec) - B♭5 (ua-cam.com/video/Ogc4varqmVY/v-deo.html at 25m01s).
That's a great range, she's certainly a world class performer.
Miho Miho Miho!
I believe Haruna is 4'6", and Miyako is least smol at 5'2". Yet, they are GIANTS!!!
A lot of performers are generally introverted and the performances come from a part of them they don't normally let out. I'm similar when I perform, but the stage presence is undeniable and you'd never know from watching them play.
@Anthony Powell
SMOL GIRL LORGE SOUNDS

Wolfpaaaaack!
Next song: 🅱🆁🅴🅰🅺 🆃🅷🅴 🆆🅰🅻🅻
That's next for Lovebites!
The upload is actually not as good as theirs from a couple years ago, it is not as clean of a mix, this is a little muddy in comparison.
Still great though.
I like the mix of the 2020 version better too. But Asami‘s highnote at the end is even more impressive in this version from 2021 …
I saw a few versions but a couple of comments mentioned the 2021 version, so I still might have picked wrong. Struggles of being a new fan, I guess.
@@Memento_Mori I mean, it's Lovebites, so you can't go wrong. I'd say the 2020 version is the most recommended, and probably the more impressive/shocking performance to new reactors/listeners, but this version is great too. As long as they're being listened to and winning new fans, that's the important thing here!

I don't see how you find the intro "similar" to Kamelot's Farewell! Nothing to do between the two except the rhythm...
Amazing! Let's be friends :)
