So you were loosening bolts.....then the shock was on the table.... did you pull it out of the top or bottom? Did you have to remove anything else? Like the air cleaner box?
It was part of my big maintenance so I have removed the rear wheel and the swingarm too (JC009). Obviously it is enough to remove the wheel and the screws at the bottom of the shock. If you watch carefully you can see that it falls when I remove the screw (around 1:14 - 1:15). Maybe there is another way but I don't aware since my goal was to remove both the shock and the swingarm too.

As you can see I have checked the length of the spring to see if it is ok. Then I took the damper to a company where they did a refurbishment.
