@@theartfuldodger6500 I thought it was the Irish Derby St Jovite won by ten lengths? I know he won the King George very well, but I'm not sure it was by ten?
i had been given a tip in the 1990 Dewhurst which was Generous at 50/1...beat Piggott on Bog Trotter in Heavy ground and pouring rain. Anteposted 50% the winnings on the Giuness and Derby. Lost the Guiness due to an early season injury. But had 12/1 for the derby. Then Anteposted 50% of the winnings at 5/6 for the King Goerge....always remember it cos the KG bet was by far the biggest bet i had ever had .... Lost 50% of those winnings in the Arc.. but what a ride......the loss in the Arc is why he is not talked about....plus people dig out the form... but remember he beat Marju in his Derby and they were well clear of the rest.
I originally typed out that you are talking nonsense but changed tact as I didn't want to appear rude, so will just ask what was meant to be so shocking about it?
Lester the Greatest Flat Race Jockey ever. There was no way on Earth Generous was getting beaten that Day, incredible performance, just Sad he was over the top in the Arc, and ran a Lifeless race. But other Greats were comprehensively beaten in their last Races too, Shergar, Dancing Brave, Reference point etc.
I.m not saying he wasn't the best, I'm just saying he burst Saddlers' Hall, never even got a breather into him, he could have been second, but he had nothing left turning into the straight, an awful awful ride@@kevinmunday6263
Alex Bird made his money betting on photo finishes, if you listened to him on form, you'd go skint, plus he could get snide ew bets on at 1/4 the odds 10/3 pokes back then, try doing that now @@ThefightingCelt
For me, Generous and Harbinger stand out as the best King George winners there's been.
Agree with you, the 1991 and 2010 winners, respectively.
It was a pretty good field imo. Generous definitely over the top in arc
St Jovite a year after won by 10 lengths and was a brilliant winner. Montjeu was the easiest winner in the race.

Nijinsky was the Easiest King George winner, beat the previous years Derby winner Blakeney without breaking out of a canter

My old best mate Neill Munros brother :]
Generous dosent seem to get the recognition like other great horse s sherger, dancing brave ect
Canter Probably Easier Than Montjeu Win
30 años ya!
Shocking ride from Piggott on Saddlers Hall

I just assumed he was given instructions to ride that way, but Saddlers Hall ran out of gas in the straight.
@@amazed66 The lack of judgement of pace, pitiful, set five furlong fractions

Generous was a good winner and generally underrated , but he beat a poor field this day .
He beat them well though, sometimes it's not what they beat but how they beat them, but as you right pointed out it wasn't really a quality field.
@@nightowl7459 I remember Alex Bird ( great pro gambler ) hailing Generous's King George win as probably the best he'd seen .
