Please bare in mind, this sketch is more than 25years old. Totally a different time. What was considered funny then, would be very offensive today. They meant no harm.
Although this is more to do with controlling annoying interfering Mother stopping her daughter having life of her own possibly along with showing signs of Dementia unless oneself has actually Physically looked after very aging relative or friends or other that person won't no wot its like its incredibly frustratingly very hard work never ending more advanced elderly and there needs are early to middle 60s isn't too bad depending how well person is but getting to 70s onwards that's when things really start getting differcult. I use to care for elderly before becoming severely Disabled it was so utterly exhausting somewhat unintentially embarrassing wen they played up especially in public even if it wasn't meant to be naughty uncontrolled behaviour also looked after children I seen it cross between toddler and teenager stroppy temper tantrum, with the ones that started showing cognitive issues. Not easy job I'm pretty certain Karen said playing her was incredibly exhausting for her and painful due to false teeth and all different unnatural positions etc she put Herself in. I seen Karen in real life she's one of most loveliest lady out there I had been with my Mum who is no longer alive we had been to see Elaine C Smith and Karen was meeting her at end of her concert she was so nice as well we had right good laugh, photos and gave me autographs it was most happy Wonderful night off my life as we always wanted to meet them before Mum died. Elaine was more hilarious than Karen who is married to Jennifer she can be quiet private like Elaine. Both are from Glasgow Elaine is in her 60s and Karen is late 50s like most Still Game Cast and Rab C Nesbitt Gregory that plays him is also in his 60s oldest one out lot them is Tony Ropey who played Jamsie in Rab C Nesbitt he's 84 years old. But my friends and I agree Comedy back then was real it was silly slapstick skits like these 2 characters TV isn't same it's so full nonsense and rubbish they knew how to act back then another great one was Rev IM Jolly with late Rikki Fulton he played very bad tempered Church Scotland Minister in various ways he was Protestant himself so knew how to act as Clergy I'm Staunch Catholic on my late Grandmother's side and still found that funny we watched it every Hogmanay as my late Grandfather side was Staunch Protestant from Ireland just depends on persons attitude and personality and if they can take joke or not Comedy from 1970s even gets trigger warning in certain scenes would upset Karens and Dericks ie one episode of Good Life had Actress wearing apron with Gollywog on it warning was this episode may cause offence I thought seriously life is far to short to moan about that people don't no how to enjoy themselves never mind sorry for that long rant Ive been in grumpy irritated mood today my ongoing health issues is giving me gyp so I'm quiet shattered and miserable
