      @Suncho, there is the option of ordering from the manufacturer directly and then shipping it where you are. In my experience, it allows better customisation, you get access to direct substantive discounts that can shave up to a quarter of the price depending on occurrence of routine vs special offers, there is better variety of after-sales service and you completely bypass unscrupulous middle men. I have gone down that path and I have no regrets.

      @GoldenBeholden 4 роки тому +4

      @@umar24579 It's not that clear-cut if it's only for studying, especially if it doesn't come with some additional RAM to offset the 2 GB reserved for the Vega graphics, and 45 dollars might be a significant amount depending on your region and financial situation, so it's a worthwhile question to ask.

    • @GoldenBeholden
      @GoldenBeholden 4 роки тому +11

      @@tobiibot2049 The nice thing about getting a Ryzen CPU with Vega graphics is that you won't be limited to just studying, which might be nice if you ever get into light gaming/CAD/modelling, etc. However, if you just need an Office suite and browser, even a Chromebook would do the job just fine - so if you're already set on buying something better than the minimum, you might as well spend a bit more for a much more future-proof system.

      While I agree, AMD has a significant design limitation holding these chips back. They dedicate 8 lanes to the IGP, so there are only 8 left for a discrete GPU, and they are 3.0 so next gen cards will not even fix it. They really should have included a chipset option to direct all 16 lanes to the GPU instead of forced bifurcation.

      @ageofbogyo Agreed that intel has typically been able to crush amd, but I think this is going to be a repeat of the ryzen launch, these are still amd's low power laptop cpus. Amd once again is leapfrogging their tech. That on top of the fact that when you own basically all the market you can really only loose epesically in the face of tough competition which if we can be honest is something intel has not had to contend with in years.

      Not on the MacBook Air. Pretty much every reviewer who spoke about the MacBook error said it was only good for browsing the web. They specifically said you don't want to edit videos on it, you don't wanna edit photos on it you pretty much don't wanna do anything that most people buy a Mac for on it.

    Just got released here in Japan. It's marketed as the Lenovo Ideapad Slim 550. Has the same specs as yours in the video except with Ryzen 4700u.. For anyone in Japan wondering, I love this laptop, it's really great especially since Japan seems to be behind in releasing Ryzen 4000 based laptops.
    PROS:
    - Ryzen 4700u
    - Display is decent and definitely bright enough for indoor use
    - Cooling is great as Josh mentioned
    - Keyboard is great (although the only option here in Japan was the JIS array, which could be better if it were just a standard English style)
    - Speakers are totally acceptable for me, and I'm an audiophile
    - Charges pretty quickly
    CONS:
    - No option for 16GB RAM when I bought it
    - Heavy price tag of 120,000 JPY, which is about $1000
    - Color inaccurate display, but I don't notice as I use it for casual entertainment and work

    I was expecting one of these laptops with the new AMD processors! Also, a guy from AMD has said that more laptops with these processors are coming out in the next few months. You’ll be busy, Josh! 😅

    Awesome review you really went into great detail but if you are looking for a 15in laptop why wouldn’t you just go for the Avery swift 3 15in it’s the same price but has a dedicated gpu and a better cpu like the screen really is not the best but I think the good out weighs the bad but that’s a matter of opinion

    This was the 3rd or 4th overwhelmingly positive review I’ve seen for this model. Just ordered one! Thanks!

      Does this laptop have slot for additional ram? Can you explain to me about the RAM? I want to buy 8GB RAM version in my country, but it said soldered and the seller don't know about upgradeable/dual-channel.
      I got no idea after see the inside of laptop, thanks

       @Munandarif this laptop has soldered ram with no slots for additional ram, which means that it's not user or manufacturer upgradeable, you are stuck with the ram that you bought the laptop with forever. as for dual channel, the ram is configured in 4+4 or 8+8 in the 8gb and 16 gb respectively. have in mind that vega integrated graphics use part of the ram to improve performance so you will have less than 7gb of user available ram. hope that helps you
