Thank you! This is so helpful. I always feel I have to basically “set the table” when I feel like creating. Pulling everything out and have an assortment of materials available, but because I have only small windows of time I never get to it.
Glad it was helpful! I totally agree that I love a table full of materials, but I always think doing it any which way, is better than wanting to do it perfectly and not doing it all! Love Helen xx

I have lots of sketch books and do lots of different style stuff. Some workout while others look like I have lost the plot!,, but need to try something everyday. Yours are big and bold, great stuff.
Oh thank you Lynda, I would say some of my sketchbooks look like there is no plot too, which is just how it goes...sometimes we have t make a whole bunch of weird stuff to find what we love....x

Thank you. I used to do this all the time and looking back, I’m not sure why I decided to complicate things and not do art at the couch anymore. I want to be in this flow again. I don’t always need to make a formal piece or only work with messy supplies. Simplify = Flow

I suppose that creating in your sketchbook daily is like people who write in a diary everyday - I do that too! Just to let you know that I did your Bold and Fold course over the weekend and really got into it! Once I had finished I realised that I could use all the blank pages on the back of the paper too so I had double the joy! Have a lovely week Helen. x

I am certain when I watch this I will find it interesting and helpful. This note is to say the font used for the title screen was almost unreadable. I thought it said something quite different. "Finding a Sketchbook Praedee"

Hi Helen. I just discovered your channel and am really enjoying your art! You have probably answered this a thousand times but could you please tell me what sketchbooks you use? Like this one and your most go-to ones? Thank you.

How joyous, I'm the first to leave a thumbs up and comment on this video. I love to sit on my sofa with either the TV on or my laptop on and playing in my sketchbook. At the moment it's black card and spiral bound and I've been trying to do some pot shapes with some leaves in the background or just shapes. You really inspire me to use my imagination, thank you so much. Love you and your work loads, lots of love, Dot x.

Another lovely video. I have limited space (and time), so am pretty much a sofa sketchbooker, and I too have adapted the 'small bits here and there' approach. During the weekend I will do longer sessions and get paints out, but during the week it's mostly pens and acrylic markers. Even if it is just five minutes, it makes me feel better and my head slightly less of a mess.

Thank you Helen for sharing all your creative advice. It was my birthday on Sunday and my husband bought me your book as it was on my wanted list. I have over the last year have learnt to make junk journals and concertina sketch books to and your book has inspired me to have a play with all sorts of mix media products, especially water color and felt tip pens. Keep sharing, I love your work.

I love your art and your videos/teaching. My question is what kind of sketchbook do you use and what type of paper should I look for? I love what you’re doing. It resonates with me.

It's a personal choice and really depends on where you're going to use it, ie does it need to be portable or does it need to be able to take lots of paint...do you like to work in a landscape or portrait format, do you want to take pages out of it.. etc etc I always think its good to go to the art shop if you are able to and have a look and see which one feels good to you x

Oh, yes, like you, if I go any length of time without creating in my little sketchbooks I feel disconnected from my creative self and it takes a bit to get re-motivated ... love the share Helen. Now on to trying the Bold and Fold with my acrylic gouaches ... (yep ... after your video speaking about them, I had to try 'em out and I love love love them! Take care my friend.
