    The step dad is such a good person. He resorts my faith in humanity, then his wife makes me loose faith.

    Aside from paying the bills, one of the FIRST things I would've done was get that boy some damn shoes!

    I really love this idea! Giving to local families rather than people in other countries. Especially because the children can learn from the experience as well as the adults. So much can be learned about paying it forward.

    at 6:45 the mother said they needed school uniforms. I cant believe any parent could be so selfish to ignore their childs needs. Also I noticed she didnt express any gratitude to the other family. She'll never change.

    I would have went to thrift shops for some shoes, as prices more affordable, might get him two pair for when one gets wet. We had enough money growing up, but always bought used when we could, and saved money for the future. Being thrifty makes survival a lot more doable.

    To everyone that thinks the rich family is racist: that is just his accent. He is saying 'right' not 'white'.

    My kid needs new shoes, clothes and a bed, but I'm gonna buy a computer cause it's way more important than my child's needs.
    Talk about priorities.

    Instead of buying coats for her children she's buying a computer? Really?

      I think the coats and shoes were prolly factored into the heading of 'clothes.'

    Why don't the 'parents' sleep on the sofa and the son in a bed in the room??? Makes no sense at all. Their priorities aren't in order.

      Ally Oop: I noticed that. I also got a good look at the letter and his writing is not on the lines. He is struggling. Very sad.

      @@blackaristo I live in the States and he would be in occupational therapy through the school well before that age given how he struggled. Is that not so easy to get into in England? Not criticizing just asking. It pains me to watch him. It's just so sad.

    Buy shoes ! The kids need clothes. It's winter and the heat can go anytime !
    I frustrated with the mom's decisions.

    A lot of the stuff the poor family wants could be got free or second hand. Dressers are often free or very cheap. Stereos, too, if they're used. Same with washer/ dryers. All my clothes are second hand.

    The rich family doesn't seem to be very rich at all. They seem to be upper middle class. Perhaps I am missing something.
    The poor family needs to get their heads on straight. They need to cut all of their frivolous spending. They need to quit smoking and drinking. The wife needs to start working as well. Also why does the kid not have a room. The parents should give him theirs. Its selfish.
    I feel for the husband because he seems like a hard working guy. At least they aren't on benefit.

    • @never_give_up90

      Upper middle class falls under rich category. Lower middle class is the struggling class that cant qualify for gov help, but they have enough money to live in comfort while still worrying about bills in many cases. Middle middle class, those who live comfortable enough to afford many things. If you want to be rich, you would have to shoot for upper middle class, higher class, or crazy wealth.

      I watched this show when it came out, in the 2000s. There weren’t smart phones then, altho the iPhone became more widespread 2009-2010ish. We did have mobile phones with internet access, but it used a lot of credit so was expensive. People used desktops, laptops if they had them, and if they didn’t have a pc at home would go to an internet cafe or somewhere. No one really had ‘computers in their pockets’ the way we do today :)

    Its not bad to pay for your own countries children, so british people should also donate to home charities. A child helped is a child saved.

      Makes for a more intimate and sappy interaction as far as the show goes, though. Also, they didn't know one another. Writing dismisses any awkwardness that would arise.

    Can someone tell what a Council Tax is?

  • @lesyastepanchuk8922
    @lesyastepanchuk8922 5 років тому

    Such people will always be poor because they spend money very foolishly. I’d rather help someone overseas that have no opportunities. Living in Britain and staying poor has a lot to do with the person. That lady should be working

  • @LADYNONONSENSE
    @LADYNONONSENSE 7 років тому +6

    This makes me so sad! The stepdad works hard and only brings home 280! That awful, and what the hell is council tax? How and why would there be a tax on the poor? I'm in the U.S. I'm just try to understand. The mom need a butt kicking why would you buy a computer and no clothes or shoes for your kids? Oh yeah why do they come and remove thing from your house if you get in debt?

    • @keiran1293
      @keiran1293 7 років тому +1

      Council tax is money that you pay to the local council which is contribution money to go towards paying for roads to be fixed, public school funding and those sort of things. And when somebody is in debt depending on which type of debt they are in, the company you owe debt to hire somebody to come around to your address and take objects such as mobile phones, laptops and anything of value to make up for the money that is owed. You have this in the U.S. which is something like repossession :)

    • @LADYNONONSENSE
      @LADYNONONSENSE 7 років тому +1

      Yes repossession only pertains to cars and homes. Personal items will never be seized. And we have the option to go bankrupt if we have fallen on hard times . But that wont save a house or car but it gives a fresh start. No one comes and take things thank god! And also I guess we do have taxes also but they come from our paycheck before we get paid and most people get that refund at the start of every year. thanks for explain this to me.

    • @TickleMeElmo55

      So basically council tax is the UK form of income tax.

    • @blackaristo
      @blackaristo 5 років тому

      The Artist: Here in NYC, it is part of the taxes taken out of our paychecks as city tax. We pay the state and federal government. We are represented by city council people, State senators and Assembly people.
