I would’ve never imagined Tom Holland interviewing Canessa! Here’s a proud Uruguayan! 🇺🇾🫶🏼
J A Bayona directed Tom Holland in his first movie
Uruguay noma 🇺🇾
Why proud??, Canessa is THOUSAND TIMES more important than Holland, it was an honour for Holland to have this chance with Dr. Canessa
Tom Holland had previously worked with the director J.A. Bayona on "The Impossible" (2012) which is probably how they got him to do this interview
Which was a great performance between him and his movie mom, Naomi Watts.
For me, "Lucas" was the best interpretation in "The Impossible" by far.
Thank you! He seemed so random 😂
@@BambiBryantFrr
@@BambiBryant Well, now you know LOL. Also, "The Impossible" is a very good movie
It was so hard to watch sometimes but it was the best film of the year in my opinion.
Absolutely incredible.
Compared to ‘Alive’, ‘La Sociedad de la Nieve’ really captured the raw and depressing situation they were in. The avalanche scene, Numa’s fight for survival eventually leading to his final scene, what a movie fr
I have to agree
@@lisan_al_gaibbthat’s why the survivors didn’t like “Alive”. They were really involved in this new movie, meeting the actors portraying them. This movie is just amazing
Bayona said in an interview that while they were filming The impossible he used to read to Tom Holland fragments of the book The Society of the Snow and this is probably the reason that capture the interest of Tom Holland..
I like Tom Holland doing this. Usually he's on the other side.
no me digas
@@goininside q buena onda q sos
Well, society of the snow actually places importance in the dead for once, since they provided the energy for the survivors. The meaning is much deeper in this one.
the film broke me so much, i can't even imagine it, it must be so tough for the survivors to even talk about it
This movie was emotional, showing there's hope in despair. One of the best movies of the year
the fact that he died 10 days before is rlly shows he gave it his all but he just couldn’t take it anymore ☹️. but he just couldn’t eat them man.
he died of an infection. not from starvation.
I'm originally from Uruguay, all of us knew this story when we were young. And I lived inthe same neighbourhood as the survivors and their teammates. The movie Alive was really good, but this one I think was a little better . Till this day I still can't believe this incredible story, it's absolutey tremendous what they did. Teaches us about the depths and strength that we humans can attain. I consider them all heroes, with Parrado and Canessa's trek being monumental!
❤ buen dato
This movie decerve a Óscar, because is so good, the way how they told the story is so emotional
Portraiting the feelings was perfectly achieved by the director and actors. I felt I was there, I understood what they felt when they had to overcome their convictions to eat.
An amazing film and an incredible tribute to the remarkable survivors.
I enjoyed SOCIETY OF THE SNOW so much. I hope anyone who hasn't seen it will watch it on Netflix this weekend.
Today i went to see a doctor, and of a sudden, he asked me where r u from… and when i said Uruguay… His answer was: o! I’ve just watched the movie… so now we r known by this tragedy/miracle! 🇺🇾 I am proud of Canessa and company, including the ones who couldn’t make it!
Numa was right there, all along, and he always will be. (Oh, my God, I'm so corny but I can't help it.)
If the film is Canessa approved you must watch
It was an amazing film you felt like you were with them there . RIP to the souls that lost their precious lives 🕊️
Canessa is IN the film, and so is Nando, Páez and Coche. Páez portrays his own father reading the names of the survivors. The others made a cameo in the movie.
Thank that I know 😅
This needed to be way longer, this was a great interview Tom. Saludos Doctor Canessa
This director should work on a Korea Tragedy story to make a another incredible movie❣
Please teach our Indian cinema how to create a masterpiece on such realistic events..
Robert sir my lifetime salute to you...u r so great
A beautiful film. I watched it tonight & I have also seen Alive. Incredible story. I find it fascinating watching the documentaries of the survivors too.
The best film I've seen in many years. It was an emotional, beautiful film.
I seen "Alive" in threatening in 93'. It's doesn't compare.
Bless them all.
I was obsessed with Alive and their stories. Watched the interviews and all the additional info included in the dvd. Can't wait to watch this version.
just watched this - excellent film I particularly liked it had no big Hollywood stars. great direction and performances.
It’s so funny that Tom Holland is doing this cause one of the actors from the movie looks exactly like him!!
Which one?
@@elsafilippa3232no one
Which one?
@@elsafilippa3232 one of the 2 guys who made the journey at the end of the movie to find help. The one with no beard
@@ellobo4290 the one who made the journey over the mountains to find some help at the end of the movie. The one with no beard
I find this very funny because there is a documentary maker/writer/historian named Tom Holland who does these kind of interviews so its weird to see the OTHER Tom doing it haha.
Firstly, the moderator for this FYC guided a high quality Q & A. Secondly, I’m headed to Netflix to watch the movie right now.
Saw the movie yesterday. Was really good. There's another one from the 90s. I like that one also. I'm going to read this book. I was born in October 1972. I remember this story as a child. I'm in the states. Just being born when it happened thinking of life drifting out and drifting in. What they went through is just fascinating, heroic, mind boggling. The odds of surviving everything that happened is zero. You wouldn't believe it if the movie or books were fictional. Can't wrap your head around.
Amazing film. I loved it.
Can we just talk about how pretty he look in here. Normally he's the one getting asked the questions its fun to see him differently
He went to heaven, he found the meaning at the end, the Bible verse said it all that he wrote and left for them to read, it was said by Jesus himself, about nobody loving more than the one that gives his life for his fellow men. But in the English translation of the movie, its lost. The impact of reading those profound biblical words on the note he left before he died in peace.
Boooooo

Dije yo
❤❤❤❤❤
is there a book about this incident written from the any survivors?
yes. the book called Society of the Snow
The book was made with a survivors interview summaries.
I didn’t know canessa knew English
1) He's a pediatric cardiologist, a very important one in South America. Most of the medical literature is, in fact, in English, so, it's practically mandatory that physicians all over handle medical English at least.
2) Dr. Canessa and all the other rugbiers attended the Stella Maris Catholic School in Montevideo (which was the house of the Old Christian's Rugby Team), it was a school founded by Irish Catholic priests, and some of the classes would be in English.
@@missdeejay The only real answer is 2. 1 is not like that, even less in his time. I have know a lot of medics (in different fields, and good ones) of 60-80 yo that don't know a word of english. Even going to congress in the UK or USA don't knowing anything more than "bathroom", LOL. I even know some 35 yos in the same situation (they got better on that tho :P)
@@usotutuCanessa has given lectures and conferences as a cardiologist in US universities so he probably had to take extra English classes to be really fluent even if he already went to a school where the alumni have more than the average English classes. Just an opinion. English classes in Latin American schools are pretty basic to say the least. Special schools are probably just a little better.
@@Gisechan I absolutly agree. I just dispute the fact that the content of his knowledge was generalize to others physicians. In reality it wasn't that way. Maybe in uruguay, but certainly not in the rest of LA.
@@usotutu maybe it depends on the medical school. Some do care that their students speak English, others don't, I guess 🤷🏻♀️
omg!! even tom holland lol💀😭.!.
Why is he making this interview?
He is a friend of J.A Bayona, movie director, since they worked together in the impossible.
🇺🇾❤️
Souka.
why Tom Holland is there ?
In my opinion, Tom Holland and Bayona are friends since The Impossible.
He and Bayona are good friends...
Bayona also read lines from the society of the snow book to the actors when they were filming the impossible (which Tom Holland is in)
Why is Tom Holland acting as the interviewer? 😅
He’s the “moderator”. I’m guessing the director asked him to do it because they’ve known each other since Tom was in “The Impossible”. He probably wanted someone to do this Oscars “FYC” who is his friend, recalls his directing style, and therefore could ask relevant questions.
🇺🇾🇺🇾🇺🇾🇺🇾🇺🇾🇺🇾🇺🇾🇺🇾🇺🇾
He’s so wack bro watch this lmfaoo let’s see this one
Roberto is an excellent doctor, he's a pediatric cardiologist, raised in one of the richest neighbourhoods in the city, with great academic education: I'm astounded at his very poor English.
He effectively gets his message across. Are you referring to his accent?
By no means is it poor English. He can get through effectively .
@@marcelguberman The fact that he can make himself understood doesn't mean it's not poor English, especially for someone who's travelled the world for medical conferences and seminars, not to mention his motivational and humanitarian work, which make decades of using the language.
@@TheMoonlight2887 have you heard about fossilization? Renowned (non-English speakers) scientists have (speak) broken English and are very much respected, regardless of their English.
