The Band for making this awesome music
Every one of you guys watching this now
I love yall! :)
First listen, major "meh"
Second listen, "Ok, this is pretty good."
Third listen "Damn, this is really good!"
I am now to "Call me Mephistopheles!!"
Happened with me too
Rose the Hat!
Just like Dance Macabre!
First listen - "too poppy"
Second listen - "A little head bob"
Third listen - "Crank that up!"
Now - "Just wanna be, wanna bewitch in the moonlight!"
hahahaha
I really love the new Ghost song. Not gonna lie, I love every single Ghost song in their own way. Tobias Forge Is an really creative musician and know how to make music that grows on me.
Light of the world is lucifer
Totally agree, he takes elements of pop song writing to create catchy songs but very much has his own characteristic song writing.
Tobias is not songwriter :)
Tobias writes the catchiest fucking songs. And those riffs ... oh, man. Never gets old. And yes, Lucifer actually means the Light Bringer. From Latin lux, lucis = light, ferre = to bring.
Tobias rules!
“ferre” though derives from Greek “fero (φέρω)" which indeed means to bring
Lucifer Morningstar
@@marybrant9586 Cheesy but that show grows on you.
My favorite thing about Ghost is that they play music that for years people called "the Devil's music" and looked for hidden satanic meanings or messages. Ghost is like nah thats actually what we're saying. Now what?
Ha ha true. The track HE IS, can't even hide what tobias is talking about lol. Love that track, it actually gets me emotional because I've read the satanic Bible and it was one of the most uplifting books I've read so far.
@@digitaldogs233 He Is actually has a few layered meanings IIRC. I believe portions of it are dedicated to his brother (who influenced him musically), and a friend of his.
It's kind of neat because outwardly it absolutely sounds like the devil, but once you hear the other meaning you read a lyric and go "Ohh, I see now!"
They have an older song called Satan Prayer, not much hidden about that...
So some People can still read Aramaic ???
@@kunchong5640
Maybe you are right, that's the magic of lyrics and music.
the more i hear this track, the more im diggin it. seeing them live at the end of the month!
You will absolutely love seeing them.
They put on a great show. Great stage presence. Saw them maybe 4 years ago or so
Same here man so excited hope they play it live man
Ghost and Berserk, good taste mate
They are an awesome show!
Someone on the Ghost reddit hat a really interesting interpretation of the song. In this case, the "devil" would represent your inner demons, like addiction, that someone is trying to overcome. With the line "Light up in the middle of the day, for how else could you see me" the woman in the video lights up a pipe. In the end, the boat docking could represent crossing the path to the after life, symbolizing death, so she couldn't fight her inner demons in the end. It's very eerie looking at it like this. Also, "Call me little sunshine" is a quote by Alastair Crowley, and the cover of the single replicates one of his famous poses. Ghost's lyrics are always full of surprises where you think 'ah it's just some meme about devil worship' but often there's a lot more to it. Just the genius of Tobias Forge at play again! :) As always, loved your reactions!
that's what makes this song So great, there's So many ways to look at it.....it makes you keep listening and finding meanings. But yeah looks like it's about drug addiction.
Also to me with "Little Sunshine" I can't stop thinking about Harpocrates (Ancient Egyptian Deity) which represents the newborn sun rising each day at dawn and the embodiment of hope. Alastair Crowley mentions him in 'Magick' and represents him as the embodiment of your higher self and your higher self being your own holy guardian angel. Alastair Crowley calls him Heru-ra-ha which means Horus sun-flesh
I'm pretty sure this is the idea of the song as the name Mephistophalis comes from a story of a man fighting his inner demons, and he calls that part of him Mephistophalis
I mean it’s pretty straight forward
Responding to this to say that the light up in the middle of the day is a reference to witches supposedly getting high to communicate with demons. Cool stuff!!
Ghost grows on you, it takes a bit sometimes, but after hearing this song like 3 times I couldn't get enough. As for their shows, I've heard from a close friend, they are god tier badass. Can't wait to see them next month!
I’ve done a few Ghost shows and can completely agree with whoever told you this. The last time around, they did a 3hr set with a 10-15min intermission. No opening band.
I just saw them last night. I honestly didn't really like them aside from Cirice and this song, and actually disliked a few of their songs (thanks to the radio). Long story short, after seeing them live I'm addicted to them and kinda love the songs I disliked before lol
I saw them yesterday (Feb 10th), I can confirm they are god tier badass performers and I suggest anyone to go see them live. I can't wait till next year to see if they come back just headlining in US,
Yeah, it's strange, usually I like a song or not, but with Ghost it's different. I find the songs interesting, listen to them, kinda meh, and after a few more times I can't stop singing it in my head. So weird. Like Satan uses hypnosis or something idk 😀
Well, reporting in late, Ghost in St Louis was more amazing than any other band I've seen!
Really getting Meliora vibes from this. Nice clean opening riff, awesome groove, great melodic vocals.... Sounds a lot like Cirice. The Producer/Co-writer of Meloria also produced/co-wrote this album, so it makes a lot of sense. Even the lyrics "You will never walk alone/You can always reach me" remind me of "Can't you see that you're lost without me". This song immediately went in my Ghost top 10 on first listen. Love everything about it.
Definitely got “Cirice” vibes from this. If Primera sounds anything reminiscent to Meliora then we got a winner on deck!
@@madstaticmke414 Impera is the title. Means to divide and rule. Like empire (imperium on swedish)
@@DaP84 thank you
Also has the majesty and spirit vibes
Well Alex first of all, you just introduced us to some honestly good listener! I liked the fact he didn't hide what he didn't like about the song and that's perfectly fine but he also gave us some actual justification about why he didn't like it which for me is the most satisfying part when I am watching a reaction video. Hopefully we are gonna get to see him again in your channel, keep up the good work!
Can we have this guy more than once again? I really like how he talked, pretty chilled, but pretty "in depth" and really considering the song and having an opinion on it.
Well, you sold a record - this was my first time hearing the song and I pre-ordered the new album before getting to the end of this video.
Yay!
So much Black Sabbath in this riff writing, which is a huge compliment, because it still has it's own twist and character, some H.I.M in the production too
It kind of reminds me a bit of HIM too, Greatest Lovesongs vol.666/Venus Doom which is great because they're one of my favourites too
This song is definitely a grower. I've seen this same thing with almost every fan I know too. It takes a few listens to really click, but once is does, swoo boy.
Def don't grow for me. It's boring and monotone, heard it all before and too damn simple structure. I really miss Tobias Forge's genius when it comes to strong, unique melodies. It's gone. He's even 100% safing on the vocals. So unlike Ghost. Hunters Moon feels a bit stronger, but not a good sign to have that song and this "filler material" released as singles
Yeah it was the same thing for Hunter's Moon. First time hearing I was like humm okay, two days later in the car: "IT'S A HUNTER MOOONN" hahaha
@@DaP84 well good thing this is only one song. I don’t believe this song represents the entire album. Hunter’s Moon I think is a bit stronger as well but Call Me Little Sunshine grew on me a lot. We’ll see what happens tho
Yea same. I knew it was good the first time but it took a few listens and now I'm hooked.
not really, I liked them instantly while listening to Opus Eponymous. The last few years, not so much. This song is uninspiring.
This song is so goddamn catchy dude! The chorus is so good. I’ve actually already started learning how to play it on guitar. I’m so hyped for the new album
I'd love to have Alex back as a partner-in-reactions! He's fun to have someone to bounce off and says things in different ways
Always addictive. Man I love Ghost. This one is definitely an earworm after a few listens especially.
Ghost really have a good ear for melody. That's what I've always liked about them, their melodies are always super catchy and memorable. Even the solos are slower and more melodic, rather than just straight shredding like most metal/hard rock would probably do.
Great band 🤘🏻
Hear griftwood solo AND twenties
First hearing I was like “eh, it’s okay.” I was expecting something heavier and faster because I hope that’s how the new album is. The more I played it, though, the more I liked it. I listen to it a few times a day now. Love it!
As someone who has been a fan of them since 2013 and has been one of my favorite bands since I saw them in concert while touring with avenged sevenfold I love the song it reminds me of their older music from the first two albums
Sevenfold rocks!
It sounds more like Meliora + Prequelle to me
It sounds absolutely NOTHING like the first two albums. I wish it did because recent years of Ghost music has been a disappointment.
@@DieHumanless I enjoy all the albums especially the two songs they released in 2019 with their 60’s sound like Mary on a cross is one of my favorite songs. But hey everyone can have their own opinions so hopefully you will end up enjoying the new album when it’s released in March
@@DieHumanless can't agree more. I miss Opus Eponymous Ghost so much. This new sound is bland.
That is the kind of riff that will get lots of kids into guitar, catchy, sounds more complicated than it technically is, so very cool song!
Look at papa's new outfit. And the ghouls and ghoulets. And remember. If you have ghost you have everything ...
Reminds me a lot of an earlier Ghost song with similar theming: He Is
Glad someone else thought so, HE IS is my fave track of theirs.
I agree totally, definitely got the same vibe!
Extremely excited for the new album and tour!
This track is phenomenal. Different yet familiar. 🤘🏻
This darker vibe is really selling me. I love ghost, but this is new and I like it
Alex, you need to react to more of 'The Dark Side of The Moon'. This album definitely deserves to be heard in one sitting, all the songs blend into one another. We've been waiting months for this!
I can't listen to anything on that album without screamimg. Something happened when I was 3, no idea what, (my mum always played it really loud) one day I just started screaming during a certain song and since then no way in hell can I listen to that album at all. I think the vibrations through the floor got me, but I really don't know and just can't explain it.
I'm so happy to see you reacting to ghost again :)
Ghost does actually have very actually poetic and ingenious lyricism. TF is fantastic at writing.
You two should team up more often, this was fun to watch! Good reaction and thoughs on the video. Keep it up!
Great song, your friend looks genuinely nice, smart and honest. Keep him close
As a Ghost´s fan I really enjoyed Alex´s reactions! He’s amazing, very thoughtful!
Dude, you need to go listen to their first album Opus Eponymous. Ghost didn't always have that pop-rock with hints of metal sound that they have had over their last couple of releases.
It’s always been there!! And it’s awesome.
@@QuestNation3221 not in the first album it wasn't. On Opus Eponymous they had more doom metal/Occult rock sound. You saw glimpses of pop-rock on infestissumam and Meliora. Obviously on the prequelle album it's quite evident.
Great Co-reaction!!! Keen to see you both again.
I always think that if Blue Oyster Cult were a metal band then they would sound just like Ghost. They must have influenced Ghost
Great with the sidekick! The intro was awesome! And good reaction to a good song!
This song has potential. I enjoyed it, but I kept wishing for some ad-libs towards the end of the song. I really enjoyed both of your reviews and your analysis! Always a pleasure to watch your channel!
Yess yesss yess!!!! I was hoping for this reaction sooner 😋😋 ... loooove this new song ... i'm listening like a Maniac🤩
That one riff that Alex H heard actually reminds me of Metallica, sanitarium. Or one of them songs of theirs. It's very nice and undertoned.
I do like your both reactions, prety pertinent analisis that is from your friend, great job dude!
Actually i like your reaction more than the song itself... that was not bad at all, but it wasn't enough for neither of us.
The way he looks at 4:45 perfectly captures the way i feel when listening to Ghost. The music touches you in a way only few bands do.
I love Ghost but this song took me about 3 play throughs to really start to appreciate it. I love everything about it now and I can’t stop listening to it ♥️
I’ve never heard this band before. Thank you for doing this reaction. Now I have new music to explore 😁
Damn it! Another Ghost song glued to my brain. I still wish that Ghost and Avatar would tour together. Two Swedish bands that kicks ass on the same stage. Kick ass reaction bro!!! 🤘🤘🤘
Yesss I was waiting for this reaction! :D
I agree with your friend and was thinking the same thing before he said it. The guitar riff and build up, I was expecting better and more catchy vocals. Good reaction video.
I’m loving this so much! They played last week but I was in the hospital!! I love them!
Ah listening to this makes me even more excited to see Ghost & Volbeat this Saturday!!!!!
I don’t remember you reacting to “hunters moon” by ghost,or did I miss that one
Great video and song! I saw them live before and they were great! I would love to see this song live.
I get massive chills when I hear that first guitar chorus, it sounds at the end of it EXACTLY like the kind of shit Mötley Crüe would do in the early days. Tobias is a goddamn musical genius.
0:33 HA HA HA!!! When the techno kicked in! Ha Ha!!
I watched the premiere and loved it. Probably listened to it 20 times since and still love it.
Cool Video. P.S., please react to Saxon - The Thin Red Line!
Love the new song and band, upcoming album is going too be awsome🤟🇳🇴
Saw them in Reno! AMAZING! Been my favorite band for a long time now!
Also, Alex you absolutely have to listen to their first album, Opus Eponymous, and their second album Infestissumam. They're both super different, and it'd be interesting seeing your reaction to some of those songs
Listening to the intro music I went "Is that Flying Whales?!" and yes, yes it was. I love it.
Since this song is probably going to be on the new album:
Forge explains, "The album that I have been working on, I came up with that concept years ago. We played in Seattle in 2013, 2014 - something like that - we played at Showbox At The Market. I remember that day I came up with the idea for this record, this upcoming record. Because I got a book called 'The Rule of Empires.' So, basically, I wanted to make a record about the rise and ultimately the unescapable fails and falls of empires."
Do you have a link to this interview? Keep Rock Alive!! 🤘🏽🖤🔥🙌🏼 ℁
Ghost is an acquired taste and is not for everyone, but they are magnificent in every way, brilliant.
Their shows are amazing and production is dazzling. You definitely get your moneys worth with this band 🤘🏽
It's about Allister Crowley. That's what he told a judge to call him
That's a line from Crowley, but isn't the song about Faust's deal with Mephistopheles?
Its not so difficult.....who is "the little sunshine " and who is " Mephistopolis " ???
I loved this so much. I was working on getting a good start on listening to Ghost and now I have. Beautiful song.
Also "It's like dark roast coffee" (drinking dark roast, black) Me: "Mmm ... yeah, tastes about right". I feel like I got the full experience now.
I've seen them in concert & they are amazing
Alex and your friend,
There was a drama series called Lucifer. It was on 1st on Fox Network, and then on Netflix (2016-2021). Main character is named Lucifer Morningstar.
I Love you Alex because you love GHOST...I have been Ghost gig and that was so great! Here in Finland. Greetings!Land of Santa Claus :D
I first listened to it and said. oh pretty decent tune.
Now I can listen to it 15x in a row.
First time I heard the song, I wasn't sure. Second time, I was 100% sold on it. Can't wait for this record!
5:50 "Thiis is Ghost" lol Not anymore! Their new suits are freaking amazing!
I love Ghost, Tobias writes ear worms, and before you know it your jamming it non stop. He's quite the genius musically.
THIS is how you make a fucking song!! The song alone is banging, and the music video is insanely brilliant and throws it over the top.
THATS MY BOY!!!! Almost a week waiting for this!!!! MARCH 21st Impera Will ve released 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 🇲🇽
I think it totally grabs you, and keeps you wanting more. I put it on my playlist as soon as I heard it.
the harmonies is what makes Ghost!
The bass really drives this song.
Tobias Forge is a genius....
I do like this song. I love that the bass is much fuller and richer in this one. I've said this since I first got into Ghost, they are like a fungus. Give them time and they will grow on you. I hated Prequel when it dropped but after I listened to it all the way through a couple of times it grew on me. If I remember right all but 3 Ghost songs were this way for me.
Ghost hits you like a freight train. You hear a few songs and before yiu know it they have you singing along ans yelling "HAIL SATAN " lol
We are loving this song!!!
The album's cover and part of the lyrics are inspired by Aleister Crowley a British occultist, the Jimmy Page's Master and Guru.
Thank you for bringing ghost back to the channel, now you can call me little sunshine because I'll be at their concert in Ohio the 7th 🖤
love the vocals and how he sang that
Awesome song, awesome reaction as always. Alex, your friend is cool but he gives me a Brandon St. Randy vibe. Lol
The name of the video is missing "Little" sunshine :D Great reaction as always! :)
Mephisto is a demon from German folklore from the story Faust
Also a villen in Marvel comics
Its greek meaning " the one that fears the light" ..Phosphorus is greek for the " morningstar.
This mans a legend secondary Alex
I give this song a slap ,a tickle, and a courtesy reach-around.
3:44 That guy (wearing his glasses) is jamming to that rock 'n' roll part of this song.
I think definitely would be for he's first ghost reaction "He Is" or "Year Zero" introduce him to their earlier stuff so he has an insight on what the band is about 🖤🤘
Love this song. Thanks.
Just saw this performed live last week, such a good tune.
You say, that chorus would be good live. Good thing I'm seeing them next month.
show your friend "Danse Macabre" - could see you two in the actors' places!!!! ha, ha! (insert evil laugh here!)
I love Ghost and I used to wait guiltily for the lightning bolt to strike me when I listened. Now I just like it and smile because it is so damn catchy. Tobias is a master troll.
I have that with most of the new songs from Ghost, certainly this and Hunter's Moon. I find them kinda meh at first but then they grow on me to a point where I just can't stop listening and they are stuck in my head for days.
this track has an absolutely awesome production...... way better than most stuff out there today....never heard of Ghost before this track....... it seems to be pulling people right in.......
I need to be here!!!! We could've had 3 Alex's!!! Lmao ☠️ 🤣
The climax moment for me in this song is the last "When you're alllllllll alone just call me..." I get goosebumps it's a freakin amazing song.
I totally love this song. It's probably my favorite song right now.
I think the meaning does go about deeper in that a street name for LSD is sunshine and Mephistopheles was a demon sent to collect the debts for Lucifer, (and actually tries to convince mortals not to sell their soul, at least in the Faust legend) so to me the song implies you call Lucifer for more high and thrill and as you start needing more and more for the same high eventually Mephistopheles comes to collect
Its about drugs. "Light up in the middle of the day, for how else would you see me?"
The video has more depth:
-The devil cuts her train car - shes falling off the wagon so to speak.
-She starts smoking (what i assume is opium, given the steampunk theme), after which the devil pulls his pitchfork 'switch' and redirects her traincar, leading her away from the path.
-she smokes again, but this time she collapses and looks lifeless(overdose).
-Her car rolls onto a ferry ship, indicating she had died. This is reinforced by the lyric "even when you're dead and gone, you can always reach me". (Referring to the ferryman Charon carrying souls into hell, across the river Acheron)
-she steps off the boat (the only time in the video she is outside the traincar, the devil freed her from her fate I suppose) to meet the devil face to face. This is the only time she truely sees him as before she only saw him after smoking.
Im not a huge ghost fan but heres my take on the song: as a philosophical study, its pretty shallow, but the video certainly picks up the slack. As music, it's a fucking BANGER. I love it.
wow pretty interesting, i think you're right. I was wondering what's up with the pipe part.
I'm seeing ghost and Volbeat on Friday. Super stoked. I dig the new song.
