Bungie, the sinister gift that keeps on taking...
Upper Echelon, this rabbit hole is a lot deeper than you think. Bungie has had a worse impact of gaming/the gaming work industry than anyone realises.
Look at the 400 million Concord debacle for example.
Consultants at Sony (who stopped all projects except Concord) - ex Bungie developers
Lead Firewalk development team - ex Bungie developers
CEO of the company, who sold Firewalk to Sony - ex Bungie creator and investor in Sweet Baby Inc among other consultant companies. A person who has multiple HR SA misconducts buried and bought off victims.
      ex Bungie Developers who:
-Killed games like: Infamous and Protoype reboots, Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter and the biggest crime of all was killing the The Legend of Dragoon remake, among countless others.
These ex Bungie employees with their HQ in California, actually only paid their taxes in another State entirely (that was some accountancy wizardry). They have made off like robber barons in the night.
So UE, these guys are the mafia of gaming and hopefully the jig is up as Sony Japan has caught on to the continued failures and mismanagement of money.

Seems like corporations (and celebrities) love chucking stones from their glass mansions and complaining about the specks in our eyes when they have planks in theirs.
I play destiny religiously and keep up with bungie a lot so I’m not really surprised by this. Every week, they put out a post about future updates coming out and a lot of times they’re obnoxiously virtue signaling and even talking about politics even though that’s against their rules. They’ll also do things like add emblems for certain groups. I’m a part of two of those groups with emblems and I can honestly say, they’re not sincere about it and just want the pr boost. I think it’s obvious they only want to pander to minorities when it helps them cuz last year they put up a twitter post about Latino heritage month but Latinos crucified them for it since bungie referred to them as Latinx. Bungie just hid their replies and refused to acknowledge the situation.
I also remember when they were using the activision blizzard SA coverup to make themselves look better then got exposed for creating an extremely toxic work environment, causing people to quit, and even harassing employees that wanted the company to embrace diversity.
It’s extremely pathetic but not surprising, that some destiny UA-camrs were involved and never apologized. Mtashed has a video that has like 300k views on the situation that has false information and he still hasn’t taken it down. Datto made some tweets but I don’t know if he apologized. Tbh I doubt he would ever criticize bungie and make them look bad after he went full apologist mode last year and defended bungie from criticism over the extreme monetization of destiny. Some comments are saying king gothalion was also involved which I’m not really surprised by since back in 2018, he was acting like everyone who criticized bf5 for being historically inaccurate was evil. Also not surprising that only a few Destiny UA-camrs acknowledge and covered the story of Chris Barrett getting fired a few weeks ago.

At least half of the 50% that stayed at Bungie to work on Destiny left over the course of Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 up to Forsaken. There's only maybe 5 or so people from the old Halo era Bungie still at Bungie now after Michael Salvatori got laid off.
At this point, the only people from Halo era Bungie I know that still are somewhat in the spotlight are Marcus Lehto (who was working on a game with a team of people last I knew. Don't know what came of that project though), Marty O'Donnell (who's the only one who I view as still particularly holding strong), and Joe Staten popped up for a while during Halo Infinite but Microsoft used him as a scapegoat for why the game was bad (the ultimate irony is Staten got exonerated and proven "innocent" when Halo Infinite still kept going on a decline).

Your coverage of this story and Lono's shouting it out in gratitude is what exposed me to your channel way back then. I had just found Lono and begun to really like his content and coverage of my favorite game when these accusations came out, and it was quickly obvious who was lying and who wasn't. Lono never tried to cover up anything he actually did and was literally already in therapy with his wife to address issues he/they had already identified and seen that he needed help with. Meanwhile his accusers were and have continued doing stuff like this...
It's still sad to see how much was taken away from Lono (he had recently begun to take the top streaming slot on Twitch iirc, hence the canceling effort) but I'm glad to see the garbage getting taken out while he's still doing what he loves even if it's to a smaller audience.
Props to Lono for how he handled the situation. It clearly affected him tremendously in many ways, but he was always open with his community about how he was managing and coping with things, and never lost faith in the fact that the truth would be revealed.

Only for this entire thing to cause people to blow up at him as if he never changed and was hiding this in the closet to never be dealt with, the kind of shit Barrett was probably doing to stay safe.
Something about your efforts to better yourself being disregarded by everyone around you broke my heart to watch.
If people have to be infallibly perfect their entire lives or face public ostracisation, that's kinda screwed up imo. We're all flawed. He had his flaws, recognized it, learned from it, tried to remedy it, and probably would have tried to make proper amends with these people had they not shut him out and later stooped even lower to try and ruin his life.
I was never even a big fan of his. I think I disagreed with multiple Destiny takes, but those are just opinions. I draw the line at life ruining conspiracies however that could easily be settled privately and not the trashy court of public opinion known as Twitter.

As a (former) Halo fanatic, I'm quite proud of myself for how hard I dropped any and all support for Bungie. I can't remember the name of it, but in Destiny 1 the first DLC had more content for Playstation players (for the same price). That pissed me off immensely, telling the Xbox users who turned their company into a massive success that they deserve less than Playstation users. I dropped Destiny and all things Bungie cold turkey that day, and never looked back.
Finding out later what they did to Marty made it even easier.
And this saga is the cherry on top. What an awful company.

As someone who was threatened by multiple people due to severe false accusations I can probably tell you there’s a very good chance this person struggled with severe mental health and anxiety issues for years after the fact that kind of a mental scar doesn’t ever truly go away

You know what man, you are the only person on YT (that I follow) that is grounded in reality. If you decide to leave this shajt I would understand and respect that. I am still sad that we lost TB because he was grounded and spoke out almost every time. My point is that people like you are rare and I wish you all the best.

What really sucks is at the time this just empowered so many shitty streamers within the directory to isolate a bunch of what was otherwise a wonderful community. If you were a little out there, if you didn't have the same politics or ideology, they'd instantly focus in on you and use those allegations to justify alienating you - and it all grew out of this one moment when a couple of the top table of streamers who attended GCX decided they *didn't like someone* turned into a literal witch hunt.
Ah well. the community is all but dead. 20k concurrent players and diminishing all the time despite Bungie's best attempts. I wish I could say I have sympathy for them, but I really don't.
