This was released on my father's birthday over 10 years ago. He's no longer here but now I know why I find so much comfort in Gregory's voice. I miss my father so much and I can't wait to meet him again so we can listen to this together while looking out of Heaven's gate. I search for little pieces of him everywhere and I end up finding comforting things like these that make me think he really is looking out for me still.
slept high up in the Rockies set my clock for californ-i-ey-aye and i dreamed up somethin’ special to give that ocean man, she cuffs me anyway so i’m banking on virginia to keep me clear and calm and straight just like clock work seems to tell us with every passing storm there’s just a harder hail so light my way, Virginia May i can’t sit still, just pace across this hallway we spent all this time just trading crimes, while the tune-smith packed a lunch, he’s headed down the coastline there’s a loneliness that’s blowin’ well i heard it from the radio man he’s been locked up in the belfry listening close, to a string upon a can me, i’m sailin’ on to that savior, she’s a pilgrim living on the modern time and ever since i found her magic now every car or cloud that passes is a sign light my way, Virginia May i can’t sit still just pace across this hallway we spent all this time just trading crimes and i’m saving all my sleep for another life i’m saving all my sleep for another life.
Every line in this song is like a work of art in and of itself. That said, I always hate to hear "I'm savin' all my sleep for another life" cause it means the song is almost over.
I think it's time for a road trip considering things these days! .LIVE FREE, while we can! And I'm gonna dance the whole way listening to amazing artists like Gregory.
Before this video, I didn't even know that there is a marker for the center of California. Of course, because there's the San Andreas Fault, that center could be ever moving. Enjoyed 'Virginia May' by Gregory Alan Isakov and Brandi Carlile on vocals.
I was hearing The Pines and i saw a video of this guy, awesome, all musics are so good, how can a musician with such genius be so unknown. Sry my english, (Portugal)
Excellent song . . . and a damned fine video . . . very well done! Nothing leaves me colder than an idiotic video made by someone who feels they have to reference every element of the song with matching visuals . . . in other words, 98% of the videos for songs on UA-cam . . . You have done a damned good job here friend . . . congrats!
The best musicians are always underrated
R Smith that's not true
Ya it fucking is fuckhead
@@logann8243 not really "fuckhead"
yuh
Use of the word underrated says more about the commenter than the artist.

Tanya Tomasch My grandmother's name was Rose. And she was perfect in my eyes too.
slept high up in the Rockies
set my clock for californ-i-ey-aye
and i dreamed up somethin’ special to give that ocean
man, she cuffs me anyway
so i’m banking on virginia
to keep me clear and calm and straight
just like clock work seems to tell us
with every passing storm there’s just a harder hail
so light my way, Virginia May
i can’t sit still, just pace across this hallway
we spent all this time
just trading crimes,
while the tune-smith packed a lunch,
he’s headed down the coastline
there’s a loneliness that’s blowin’
well i heard it from the radio man
he’s been locked up in the belfry
listening close, to a string upon a can
me, i’m sailin’ on to that savior,
she’s a pilgrim living on the modern time
and ever since i found her magic
now every car or cloud that passes is a sign
light my way, Virginia May
i can’t sit still just pace across this hallway
we spent all this time
just trading crimes
and i’m saving all my sleep for another life
i’m saving all my sleep for another life.
