This is the only song I remember at my brother's ( who was hit by a drunk driver while on his way to work; leaving behind his wife and 8 children; how he lived for 3 days the Drs did not know; but my God does ) funeral; which I am told was not sung; yet to this day ( 42 yrs later ) it's the only song I hear from that day's service. I knew he had walked to far with God across life's river that he did not want to return; that the God holding his hand had all here under control.
During "Outside the wire" (OTW) convoy night missions from Balad (JBB) to Mosul (modern day Nineveh) via Irbil, this song with its powerful lyrics would keep me awake and alert throughout the long, dark Iraqi nights.. Thank you Lord Jesus for The Hoppers
