a Dutch documentary film crew, which had gone to Kenya to interview various members of Hirsi Ali's family to unearth the story of her origins, misleadingly claimed to reveal that Hirsi Ali had lied about her country of origin and the arranged marriage from which she was fleeing when she arrived in Holland in 1992. It claimed she had not been forced into the marriage and that she therefore had nothing to flee from. When the film was shown on 11 May, it prompted the Immigration Minister to write a letter to Hirsi Ali stripping her of her Dutch citizenship.
Hirsi Ali had long ago alerted her party to the 'lie' in her 1992 asylum application. She had claimed to come from Somalia (where she lived as a child) because, being a wartorn country, it would qualify her for asylum. She has publicly stated several times she was ashamed of doing so. The truth was that she had lived for 10 years as a refugee in Kenya.

It's true there really is no "islamaphobia" because Islam itself is dangerous and insane. You dont get to call someone a biggot and a coward for having a fear of being eaten by sharks in the water. The CBC is the greatest apologist for Islam there is and it showed with the weak questions regarding Islam. I like how the interviewer tries to deflect criticism away from Islam and on to Harper or by doing the moral equivalency routine of playing up other religions relatively small violent acts.
The liberal bias is strong with this one. Nonetheless, kudos to the CBC for interviewing someone they obviously disagree with.
I love how Ms. Ali is so calm and logical when responding. What a courageous woman. We need more powerful and rational voices like her.

With due and respect to all Muslims around the world. My comments are not to be taken as insulting the Muslim faithful but, it is merely by giving them my personal views of the Muslim world. First of all, Originally, I'm from Iraq, which means that I speak and read and write the Arabic language. I know of the culture, history, and of the Islamic faith too. Honestly, It hurts me to see the people of Iraq suffering at the hand of their Muslim leaders. Ok, Let us put every Muslim country under the microscope then we will find that none of their citizens are living in peace, and none of these countries are technologically advanced. The majority of the Muslim countries rely on countries that are not of the Muslim faith and that may be of Technology, Mechinaries, Architectural, Engineering, medicine, Education, Hospitalization, Banking system, transportation like Travel on the ground or by air. Also, most of their food consumption comes from outsiders. Why that the countries that are of the Christian, Budas, or the nonbeliever are all living in this 21st century, with its full enjoyments of its technological benefits and the majority of the world other than the Muslim world, are living in peace and prosperity and that is for all of their citizens too. Why when it comes to the Muslim countries and the countries that are under the rule of Islam are the most chaotic and their citizens are not living peacefully and not enjoying the technology of the 21st century. The question that I'm raising is, why----------------------? Does any Muslim ask the same question which I'm asking----? It is my belief that the Muslim faith is very blind faith, it is not a peaceful faith. The faith demand killing in the name of God and enforces and educates its followers to force others into their beliefs. The Muslim religion does not allow Muslims to be peaceful societies. Ever since Mohammad, you will notice that one power overtakes the other, revolution after revolution. no peaceful transaction in their governing system, that happen to been generated ever since Mohammad and his Caliphaid and the rulers of Islam. Most of their leaders are self-promoting and tribal financial enhancement. Mohammad enforced his faith and his military power on others, his followers have been doing the same for the past 1511 years. Every leader of a Muslim country works for his self-interest, with one exception of the leader of Duba which he workes for the benefit of his people, and that credit goes to his American and European education. I wish there were more like him in the Muslim world. Maybe the Muslim people too would be living in peace and respecting human rights and the woman's rights too. If Ayaan Hirsi Ali was a CBC employee, do you think she'd be able to make her bold statements with approval? Even with documented facts to back up what she said, I believe the corporate policy would try to steer her towards less "controversial" expressions. That's political correctness in action for you. Avi Lewis's reaction to Ali's argument (that "Islamophobia doesn't exist; it's a myth") encapsulates what I mean. Perhaps he can't imagine her saying what she did because neither he nor his CBC superiors allow that particular narrative to be spoken aloud. Ali is doing journalists a favour by asking the HARD questions that many are too scared/restricted to ask. When reporters are more invested in popularity and social acceptance than they are in probing for truth to inform their audience, the quality of news suffers. Bravo Ali for your courage in critically reviewing Islam (and for keeping the focus on the ideology itself and not falling for the trap of demonizing all Muslims).

I cannot adequately express my admiration for Ayaan Hirsi Ali. There are people in this world who brag about their bravery for standing up to oppression. Thank a look at this woman! a Dutch documentary film crew, which had gone to Kenya to interview various members of Hirsi Ali's family to unearth the story of her origins, misleadingly claimed to reveal that Hirsi Ali had lied about her country of origin and the arranged marriage from which she was fleeing when she arrived in Holland in 1992. It claimed she had not been forced into the marriage and that she therefore had nothing to flee from. When the film was shown on 11 May, it prompted the Immigration Minister to write a letter to Hirsi Ali stripping her of her Dutch citizenship.
Hirsi Ali had long ago alerted her party to the 'lie' in her 1992 asylum application. She had claimed to come from Somalia (where she lived as a child) because, being a wartorn country, it would qualify her for asylum. She has publicly stated several times she was ashamed of doing so. The truth was that she had lived for 10 years as a refugee in Kenya.

Islam can't be reformed. That is a fallacy. To reform Islam the Qur'an, Hadith etc has to be changed and that isn't possible.
